There is beauty in simplicity. That much is reflected in the philosophy and the aesthetics of the products that are offered in Muji. I think many people people will agree with me when I file Muji under the bracket of "Things That You Don't Need But You Want To Buy So Badly", since it is filled with delightful little knick knacks and things that I want to fill my already cluttered house with. When Muji opened its doors in Greenbelt a couple years ago, I was instantly hooked to their paper products and their office supplies. Though admittedly, the goods at Muji are a bit more expensive than the ones bought at budget supply stores, I just love how everything is bare and simplistic - and I have read somewhere that this is exactly the look that most minimalist Japanese stores are going for. They shy away from labels that distract from the plain beauty and bareness of the brand.
What I live about this store is that even if I don't buy anything, I always come out of there with lots of bright ideas. I may buy an inexpensive pen, or yet another notepad to add to my mounting collection of unused notebooks but it always gets me inspired to write and scribble more. As a writer, not a lot of places gives me a boost like that. I think its that feeling of secretly wanting to fill all the blank pages that gives me a surge of creative inspiration. Aside from the notebooks, I love that i can find pretty much ANYTHING here. Housewares, personal products and even clothes! I think the clothes are rather expensive, but I just couldn't resist buying a linen shirt from here because it looked so nice on the rack. Muji is one of those places that I'll never tire of going back to. read more
