I'm a comic artist and I know how important drawing the human figure is in my trade. I go to weekly figure drawing at Mud & Prints and it's been ground-breaking for my art! Linda goes above and beyond at getting a variety of different models. Some sessions are clothed and some are nude. She even goes as far as setting up backgrounds that fit with the themes of the costumes and poses. We usually start with some short poses and build up to longer poses. The lighting on the figures is great too. From drawing to painting, you can use any medium that you desire. It's not required to show up every week, incase something in life comes up, and you pay per session you attend. You get a stamp card and Linda throws a free session after you attended so many. Linda is open to comments and feedback with the sessions and makes changes based on the artists' needs in the studio. It's also a very casual environment to meet the other artists in this area too. ‍ I'm learning a lot and my art is really growing each week I attend. Drawing from life is very crucial for artistic growth and this is one of the few places in the valley that offers life drawing models at a very reasonable price. read more

History

Established in 2016.

It began with my daughters business, Peerless Design, and my business, Mud and Prints. Over time it became just Mud and Prints. To expand into many directions, it became Mud & Prints Studio // Gallery. Offering art in many ways. We are part of the Appleton Downtown Incorporation, the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce, We work closely with the Lawrence University Entrepreneur program with their interns. We are excited to have our new neighbor, The Trout Museum. We are a huge part of the Appleton Community.

Meet the Business Owner: Linda S.

My name is Linda Schrage. I am the owner of Mud & Prints Studio//Gallery I have had a love for art my entire life. As an adult, I taught art in the public school system. At 55, I retired to get away from all of the politics. Now, I have it all. Mud & Prints Studio // Gallery is an art school, art supply, and art gallery, music pop-up venue, all in one. I can say I finally have immersed myself into the arts. There is nothing better than to wake up every morning excited to go to work. I feel that I have created a warm and exciting place for everyone to be able to create their own art. I am very proud of what I have developed. Stop in and see for yourself.

There are two or three galleries in the museum depending on how they set it up, so you can see it in 30 minutes or so but I spent a little over an hour my last time here because the two different exhibits were fascinating. There isn't an entry fee but they accept donations. A couple of student workers are at the entrance, friendly and interesting though I didn't engage for long since they were doing homework (I think). Parking isn't hard but you may need to walk about a block.

The museum itself is small but beautifully planned - and the exhibits rotate rather frequently. I saw the "Made to Order" exhibit - a very fun look into what people are commissioning from local artists! Also, the gift shops have some great options as well as original artwork from some of the featured artists. I'm definitely looking forward to my next trip to this cute museum.

The minimalist sensibility was artistically designed which suited the party of artists and art patrons at my party quite well. One of the things I really…read moreenjoyed about visiting this spot was the building itself, formerly a Masonic temple built in 1923. The flooring and woodwork were beautiful. But as far as the Houdini exhibit, I wasn't blown away. Several of the interactive pieces were not working. I did enjoy that you could get inside some of the items, like the milk can and a straight jacket, but I wouldn't recommend a trip here just for the Houdini exhibit. The History Museum at the Castle does have other exhibits, which depending on what's in house could make your visit more worthwhile.
