While slightly nervous because I knew nothing about the artist, I'm here to tell you that Travis is a gifted artist with a enchanting line style and pop doll collection. Nothing about this tattoo was planned and it somehow ended up matching my first tattoo on my chest. I was blown away by the design when I first saw it, and promptly decided to have it placed on my calf. My only regret is that I can't see it; this tattoo was completed in less than two hours and the attention he put into detail on it in that short time span blew my mind. Travis is affordable, personable, and has years of experience doing this. It's a cash only business; I possibly like this better than my first, and I paid a quarter of the price for it (I'm from California.) I'll be coming back and getting another from him next year, without a doubt. Call and make an appointment because he's quite busy, and walk-ins aren't available. I did a deep dive into their website and Instagram accounts and Keepsake clearly became our top choice. For the record, their explicit support of #BlackLivesMatter sealed the deal. I knew it was a long shot trying to get on one of their artist's calendars only a few weeks prior, although I decided it was worth trying. I e-mailed both Aaron and Russ. I got an automatic reply from Aaron that he was booked out for like six months, however, Russ responded and while he was already fully booked the week we would be there, he offered to put us on a waitlist just in case someone canceled. Fast forward a week, and still a couple weeks before our trip, and Russ reached out to get more information on what we were looking for. Then he proceeded to go out of his way to bump up some local clients to make room for us. It was my honey's second and my more than second tattoo. Both were in "spicy" spots pain-wise--calf for him, inner upper arm for me. Russ is a seasoned artist and it shows through both his professionalism, as well as his ability to make a painful experience as easy as possible. Tattoo safety aside (which they obviously take very seriously), I really appreciated their attention to COVID safety as well, including masking for artists and clients. Both of our pieces have healed beautifully and we would return in a heartbeat. I am hoping that future travel plans can include more time in Astoria and specifically more time at Keepsake Tattoo. When I started having an issue with it, thinking it was an allergic reaction, I called them to ask what I needed to do to switch the jewelry. During that phone call I was meet with blame and ridicule of my cleaning regiment. Suffice to say I was uncomfortable with returning to their location. After an hour of looking on line I found Nikki. During the phone call with Nikki I instantly felt supported and sympathized with. She gave me a few tips to sooth the irritation, and also booked me an appointment in the midst of her busy schedule. During my appointment she amazed me once again with her kindness. When she looked at my irritated piercing she determined that the previous piercing shop had given me jewelry that was too long and was causing a rub burn. Even when Nikki changed my jewelry to a shorter piece she made made sure I was comfortable, talking to me and distracting me with laughter. As a result the whole process was almost painless despite the wound's irritation. If I could give Nikki 10 stars I would. And from this day forward I will only recommend Nikki if anyone ever wants to get a piercing done. She's by far worth the wait.

Those kind of places use the wrong equipment, and is very harmful, but professional piercer like brand X use the correct equipment and know exactly what can be pierced with what anatomy you have so the conclusion here is, it's worth it for your safety and worth the money to.
