The main entrance is a narrow artery, too small for the throngs of people who use this station. It is also prone to flooding, which cuts off the only handicap-accessible entry. There is a secondary passage, a stairway. This, too, is small for the crowds.

For a weekend commute to the city, this is a great station. This station has a great view of the Hudson River. The $30 roundtrip is worth the savings in gas, tolls, carbon emissions, and parking hassle. The trip to the city is straight forward, rarely requiring a transfer. Parking is free on weekends and holidays. There is permit parking for regular commuters and also long term metered parking during the week.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed metro north yet. Well this is one of the stations that runs directly to grand central station in manhattan. I love to take the train from here to grand central because it is so stressful to drive and this train takes you rite to 42nd and then I can get to the upper east side in no time. The prices at the station during peak hours are $20 each way. The prices once on the train are $26 bucks each way. Round trip peak is $40 bucks which isn't that bad because of you drive down there then you have to park. I would rather pay $40 than $100 to hire a driver to take me down. I made the mistake of buying my ticket on the train coming back upstate and I will never do that again it's $26 bucks or you get kicked off the next stop haha. The parking is good here it is a pretty big lot but 9/10 times there will not be a spot in the main lot. I usually get dropped off here. I would recommend getting dropped off if you can. The views are really nice you can hear the birds and the views from the platform in the fall are amazing the water looks soo nice from here. I would recommend taking the train to manhattan from here it is great just make sure you get your tix at the station and not on the train. You can save a few bucks. PROS: -easy way to get to manhattan CONS: -parking can be difficult some days. If you can get dropped off

Beacon Train Station - Poughkeepsie-bound train arriving

Beacon Train Station

A perfectly useful commuter station that is about 90 minutes from Manhattan. I rode the train up…read moreand was picked up by my friend here. The station is organized well and there is decent signage for where to go to get from the platform to the parking areas. There is a connection to a ferry across the Hudson but it only runs to coincide with the morning and evening commutes. It does not run in the middle of the day, which is a bummer. There is parking here and a connection to the Beacon loop, a free local bus that drives around the town of Beacon. [Review 11485 overall, 1265 of 2019.]

I attended a beautiful wedding on Thursday in Washingtonville Ny and took the train back to Long…read moreIsland on Friday morning. I don't often get emotional at weddings (although my eyes did water for a split second... allergies I tell you... allergies!) but for some reason or another, found myself a bit in my feelings while "waiting" for train. I put that word in quotation marks because for the first time in a while, I wasn't quite counting down the minutes, as I was more-so enjoying the peace and quiet and simply being present in the moment. This train station is serene. It isn't surrounded by any stores or cafes but actually runs parallel to the hudson river, which is merely separated by a parking lot. After exploring down by the water (will write a separate review for the sloop club) and having a very pleasant conversation with a local, I purchased my ticket and made my way to the platform. I looked to the right and noticed that the platform extends to a cool little private section, where the elevator room and door is housed. I hung out there for about 30 minutes, only visible to the public eye from a certain angle in the parking lot, but I pretty much had my own little world. For 30 minutes, all of the stresses of life melted away and I felt like a kid again. I remembered the days when my dad would take my brother and I deep into Long Island (I have to ask where that was) and we'd walk on the train tracks together and watch as it flattened our pennies that we placed down. There's something about trains that are so fascinating as a kid. I even remember George Carlin on TV as Mr. Conductor, introducing me to Thomas and his friends. I could have spend the entire afternoon in that spot. For 30 minutes, I didn't check any email, look at any texts, broadcast myself on social medial. I simply shadow boxed, dangled my feet over the edge, examined rocks, stared into the distance, observed the construction workers about a half mile away and took a ton of pictures that I'll upload later today.

MTA Metro North Station - Botanical Garden - Taking the train from the Bronx to Union Station

MTA Metro North Station - Botanical Garden

Interesting that the trains and the MTA are not connected…read more After exploring the New York Botanic Garden in the Bronx I needed to head back to Brooklyn with my hubby and our daughter to meet my nephew for dinner. This was so much faster than a twenty minute walk to another station in the Bronx. Fortunately my daughter has the train app, so she bought three tickets for about $5 a pop and after a short wait, we were on our way. Once we got to Union Square we exited, paid for the MTA and once again, we were on our way. Thinking about fare evasion? Don't do it! The fine for not paying for your ticket could be a whopping $100!!! And if you think that you can just sneak in on the train. Think twice. There was a train conductor that was checking if each passenger had a ticket. IYKYK.

Took the Metro North train to the Botanical Garden for the 1st time and it saved sooo much time…read morethan! Highly recommend over taking the crowded MTA trains and buses or even driving and paying for parking. The train leaves you right across the street the Botanical Garden entrance (Mosholu entrance). Check the train schedule... easy 20 minute ride from Grand Central Station. So convenient that I have learned my lesson and know that I know where the station is and the train schedule, will take the Metro North going to/from Botanical Garden going forward. Station itself wasn't crowded and platform has directions to inform which way trains are headed. Kiosks machines are there to buy your tickets.... The boards inform you when the trains are coming and if delayed... Tip: Get the MTA TrainTime app and purchase tix via mobile... kiosks don't always work and more expensive paying on the train. Just remember to activate ticket before boarding as there is a time limit... Don't stand near the edge of the platform and esp turn away when express trains go by... that whosh of air! Heading back to NY, the Metro North track 4 is where you want to be. Take the overpass bridge to the other side of the tracks.
