In addition to some groceries (deli meat, cheese, corn on the cob, etc.), we also found that they had an excellent selection of items for our upcoming camping and backpacking adventure -- including lightweight but hearty freeze-dried meals such as lasagna, beef stroganoff, and chicken fried rice (that were surprisingly tasty but expensive), a water carrier for the campground picnic table, and bamboo skewers for roasting marshmallows around the fire! We found everyone that we had come in for, and more! Parking was plentiful and free. Staff were pleasant. The check-out line in the morning was short. Finally, the location was close to a gas station so we could fill up before continuing on our journey north.

It's almost perfectly nostalgic for the way some perfect little places used to operate. You have to support all the local places who treat you with dignity and that something extra you can't quite put your finger on. We go through a fair amount of produce each week, so when I heard about Wayne's I decided to give it a try - hoping for both better prices and better quality. I was totally blown away! It's incredibly well-kept and well-organized, and they have a ton of items that IGA doesn't. My favorite part is the "value bags" they have available - for just $19.95, you get a reusable tote bag filed with all types of fruits and vegetables. Check out the photo I uploaded... you won't believe how much I actually got for the price! It made us try new things we don't always eat, too. They also have a butcher attached, fresh local eggs, dairy, and more. One thing to note: if you're using a credit card, it does have to be for over $15. The customer service was top notch. The shelves were always well stocked. My local Walmart now is referred to as "the out of stock store." If you have a list you are guaranteed to leave with only 2/3 of the things on that list as my current Walmart WILL be out of stock. My local Walmart must have a beacon atop of it that calls out to all those crazy "people of Walmart" to go there. We have more than our share of these people. We may have 2-3 lanes open. All the serve yourself checkouts are open. Those checkouts are backed up because no one wants to wait in the couple other services lanes actually open. Many of the staff are rude or cranky. Who could blame them? Working in those conditions. Enjoy your good Walmart because they're not all that way. We quit going except when we feel we have no choice....maybe once every couple months.

To my susrpise, I was able to stock up on all sorts of products that were just newly expired or just about to be expired but items that the expiration date really wasn't relevant to us. Got some really great deals & I'm a sucker for good deals. Go there along with beachys while in Arthur :)
