My wife and I were overwhelmed with the passion of the teachers and counselors for the children. My daughter has excelled with all of her classes. Her grades have been outstanding so far and we look forward to what she will accomplish in the future. As for safety here, it's top notch. Everyone has to be buzzed in and show I.D. this was a very important part of our decision making process. I highly recommend for parents looking for a wonderful private school for their kids to attend!

You know, I had a great time here. I spent 13 years here (not in the elementary school, but total)…read more The thing is, this school is designed to make dumb people look smart. The campus is beautiful (see: Carroll House), though the school itself could use some updating. The teachers are adequate, it's just as cliquey as every private school out there, most of the kids have an overinflated sense of entitlement, and the programs (art, music, etc) are pretty much non-existant. The benefits are the small environment--you really get to know everyone in your class, your teachers, principals (which can be good or bad, lol), etc, the close-knit community, the whole God thing (if you're into that), the uniforms (my favorite part of a private school, and I'm not even kidding. I miss those damn things!). If it's your deal, give it a try. Going to the elementary school makes getting into the high school super-easy, and the high school, while a joke, looks good on a college app.

This company is under new ownership and now doing business as Carter's Webb Learning Center…read more This is my experience with the center providing afterschool care for my kindergarten aged son. The center will not offer toileting assistance to children who ask for help other than providing them with their spare clothing and offering wipes for the child to clean themselves up. I called the state about my concerns. The state visited and found that the center was not out of compliance with this, however; during a meeting regarding the care of my child the directors were very rude. They told me that I was upset because I was not getting what I wanted. When I asked where in their handbook to find the section on the care they provided and didn't provide the director told me, "You can read, find it yourself. You signed that you read and understood the information." When I asked what age they expected children to wipe and clean themselves up "three" was the answer that was provided. My child is school aged and I certainly don't expect any staff member to accompany him to the bathroom and monitor his toileting habits. I do however expect that anyone who I am paying to provide care for my son, help him whenever he requests help. I don't feel that including this in an IEP is appropriate (the center requested this in order to provide help to my child if he asked for it). This is not a disability but a skill that has not been fully developed The center did offer to call me if my child requested assistance and I could leave work to come to the center to assist him. Needless to say, I am very disappointed and the care of my child will not be entrusted to this organization. The directors are very unprofessional and condescending to their patrons when their business/care practices are questioned. These ladies have a lot to learn if they are going to be successful in the childcare business. When I told them I would be posting my review to social media they asked to make sure I included all of the details so I hope this honors their request. Parents/guardians, do your homework and make sure to visit this center before deciding to place your child here. Go with your gut.

After two weeks at their new school any hesitation of being dropped off in a new environment was gone. For the first time ever my 4 year old got in the car and began telling me about what she learned at school, this was after one week of attendance. The classrooms are very well maintained, the school has a curriculum and they share it with parents, there are lots of unique activities for kids, including horse rides every Friday, field trips, Spanish, music and movement classes. We are so happy we switched to Premier! If you are on the fence about a daycare we definitely recommend stopping by to visit the center!

Her self esteem was already taking a hit at such a young age, I knew we needed a change. At the Tidewater school everyone was so great to meet with not only me but my daughter to ensure that she was a good fit for the school. Everyone is welcoming and it is truly a community of support. Because of Tidewater we have been able to isolate the learning problems and actually do something about them. They truly want to help and want your child to be happy, healthy and thrive. I encourage anyone who has a desire for a different learning environment for their child or who has a child who is an atypical learner to do yourselves and your child a favor and reach out to The Tidewater School.

Tidewater's model is skills-based and instruction is individualized, so children become used to being autonomous and they truly do fall in love with learning. I wish all schools could get it this right.

This is the school associated with Calvert Community Church. It is a small Bible-based Christian…read moreschool with a big heart. If you read my review of the church, you would know that it is designed to help children know God and learn to live a Christian life in this world. It prepares kids a little differently than public school: there is Bible verse memorization, first aid instruction, chapel, and self-learning packets. Math includes budgeting, check writing and what would be considered business math elsewhere. All the children interact with all grade levels. There is physical education where everyone participates and cool (frequent) field trips (the kindergarten class got to go to 7-11 to buy Slurpees--everyone learned to purchase their drink and count their change). Good behavior and academic achievement earns privileges; bad behavior is identified and corrected, and the child is allowed to earn back privileges. Missing out on a field trip is usually enough to encourage good behavior, but if not, "corporal correction" is used. This is an excellent school for kids who have difficulty in public school because the class size is small, all age groups learn to interact respectfully, and opportunities for individual instruction abound. But I don't want to portray this school as only for "troubled" or bullied kids; it is an excellent school for any child. There is true interest in each child's wellbeing, achievement and development. Graduates go on to college or to the workforce. And they are all supported and encouraged regardless.

We were unable to get him into public school because of his birth date. But, once my husband and I visited the school, met the teachers and learned more about their curriculum and teaching methods, we knew that not being able to send him straight to kindergarten was a true blessing in disguise. My son is very bright and has excellent communication skills. So, I didn't realize that he just wasn't ready for kindergarten at that time. But, within a month at Corkran, my son showed tremendous improvement in his writing and phonetics and other skills that are essential for kids to succeed. Corkran is a fantastic place for a child to learn--and the Christian emphasis is an added benefit. The only reason I shorted them a star is the fact that they close at 5:30 and trend to close for the whole week during every major holiday. This could present a problem for some working parents. Other than that, they're awesome! I highly recommend!
