Today I had to make a special stop on Monday for a make up appointment. On Mon, We'd, and Friday you can have the most incredible snuggly pug named Clark sit on your lap during your appointment and offer comfort. In fact I don't even need them to be a dentist anymore. If I could sit in the chair, listen to an playlist, sucking gas and petting this puppers it might be as close to heaven as you can find in this bleak and fading world. This dentist is a freaking revolutionary. The game is changed.

Until my most recent appointment on May 14, I had generally viewed the practice positively. During this visit, I inquired about the possibility of consolidating my appointments to the Richland location. The hygienist indicated this might be challenging due to staffing shortages. When Dr. Todd Tucker briefly joined the appointment, the hygienist relayed my request. His response--that the practice could no longer accommodate me and that I should instead rely on my periodontist located approximately 40 minutes away--was abrupt and lacked any effort at discussion or patient consideration. I then asked whether ongoing care with a periodontist was still necessary following my prior surgery. Dr. Tucker's response--"yes, unless you want all your teeth to fall out"--was unnecessarily harsh, unprofessional, and dismissive. The tone and phrasing were inappropriate and did not reflect the level of respect or patient-centered care I expect, particularly as a long-standing patient. This interaction was both disappointing and concerning. Patients deserve clear, respectful communication, especially when discussing treatment decisions and care transitions. Unfortunately, this experience fell well short of that standard. I want to be clear that this review does not reflect the professionalism and care demonstrated by other staff at Gull Lake Dental Care, who have consistently been courteous and supportive. However, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Todd Tucker.

The front desk staff asked me to spell very simple words (like "circle"), and there seemed to be a lot of confusion over basic information. It made the whole interaction feel awkward and unprofessional, and it actually heightened my anxiety to the point where I started stuttering while trying to answer questions. When I was finally seen, the experience didn't improve much. The nurse practitioner seemed genuinely confused about my medication allergies. Even after I clearly explained my reactions and history, she still appeared unsure and kind of just blanked out instead of addressing it confidently. That was honestly the most concerning part, because I didn't feel safe or reassured discussing my health. Overall, the experience felt disorganized, uncomfortable, and lacking in clear communication. He appears to have modernized the practice by the use of electronic record keeping and introducing new technology to aid in dental care (e.g., a panoramic dental X-ray machine). MAH Horrible experience…read more I would like to preface this by stating that I have previously had a very positive opinion of Dr. Cohrs personally. I firmly believe his bedside manner, attention to detail, and dental work are truly impeccable, and I appreciated his clinical care during my previous visits over the years. During my most recent visit though, things had changed. I was told by the hygienist, Lyndi, that a panoramic X-ray was "required by law" to maintain their license, with implied risk if refused. No such Michigan law exists--regulations cover equipment safety only, not mandating patient imaging (per LARA-Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and Michigan Dental Association). My low-risk profile (excellent hygiene, no cavities in years, healthy gums, recent normal bitewings) showed no clinical need. ADA 2026 guidelines require panoramic only when necessary, to minimize radiation, not routinely. When I raised the issue feeling misled about Timberview losing their license, the hygienist called in the office manager who was beyond rude, defensive, interrupted repeatedly by obscuring and pivoting to "our standard of care," then asked my opinion of their standard. I said it felt revenue-driven rather than evidence-based. She immediately told me to leave. This was gaslighting: obscuring the obvious falsehood with vague "patient care standards" and punishing honest feedback with abrupt dismissal. Deceptive communication and unprofessional handling erode trust. Patients deserve transparency, not pressure and deflection. Unfortunately the unprofessional conduct of the office manager--particularly her repeated interruptions, twisting of the initial misleading statement, dismissive attitude, and abrupt decision to ask me to leave after I shared my honest opinion--has eroded my trust in the practice as a whole. Despite my high regard for Dr. Cohrs' skills and care, this experience will unfortunately prevent me from returning. Perhaps the business/name change to Timberview Dental has caused the business to now become profit driven over patient care driven. Be VERY careful about agreeing to unnecessary procedures that are lining their pockets.
