When I was shopping around for engagement rings I felt overwhelmed, it's a daunting task. Going to large retailers and name brand shops made things feel even more overwhelming - those shops would typically just keep trying to steer me to higher priced items instead of actually answering my questions. Even when I gave them a budget those shops would consistently keep steering me towards settings and diamonds outside of my budget range (and I had a healthy budget too). What also bothered me about the large retailers was that they always carried a sense of arrogance around them; it may be a sales tactic to make you feel like you are buying luxury from them, but definitely something that turned me off from working with those shops. This is where Kim Van Jewelry comes in and differentiates themselves. I worked with Jack Tran whom was wonderful to work with. He was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. Jack gladly shared his knowledge with me. He was patient in showing me the various different ways to assess color, clarity, and cut - and helped me select the best combination based on my criterion, and on criterion that I had not considered before. What was great is that he did not push me to select the highest cost items, instead he helped me fully understand what I valued the most to make my selections. We ended up buying a diamond and ordering a custom setting from Jack. He was easy to work with, gave great communications (I especially liked that he is proficient in emailing and texting, which I know anyone reading this review would appreciate), and was very accommodating to adjust to my work schedule. Apparently diamonds are cheaper in certain areas because of competition and availability which is understandable. It is your traditional Asian owned jewelry store. They had a small selection, but we were able to find the perfect bangle. It would have been a couple thousand more if I had bought it at an American store and at least 5,000 more if I bought it at Tiffany's or Bailey, Banks & Biddle. I just loved it. So simple and elegant. They let us pick out our diamonds and it was made then and there. They will work around your budget and if you have cash, even better. I think we got a fabulous deal. So much so that my mother was able to get a gorgeous diamond necklace for herself. The service is great and they even cleaned all our other jewelry while we waited. I don't think I can go back to shopping in an American store. You just don't get the greatest bang for your buck.

Purchased an Opal ring made by Lauren Wolf. It was lovely when I first picked it up. Needed it…read moreresized and didn't mind the $250 resizing cost. The resizing process was very strange, multiple resizing tools were used, leading to confusion. The ring was resized incorrectly, so they offered to resize again. Generally at this point, the fee for resizing should be refunded. During the process the ring was resized incorrectly several times. There was no communication through out the process. After the ring was resized correctly, the Opal came back damaged and there was a flaw in the band. There was no communication about anything, the customer service is severe lacking, especially for a luxury goods dealer. The entire experience has soured my view of Esqueleto, I will never refer anyone, if I know anyone who is thinking of purchasing through them o would strongly suggest against it.
