Quality is consistent but needed to do a double take on the kim chi sides.. first time at they're original venue and when asked about the sides the student waitress pointed to the small jars on the table. Not too appetising as the immediate thought was who else has been in the same jar? Are they the same ones left from previous patron? Was only game enough to try after seeing waitress clear tables and replenishing with new one. anyways... this place is all about sit ur ass down order eat FAAAAST pay get out!!!! Next!! Why 3 stars? My new favourite local! The most hipster restaurant on Koornang Road. Loved the food, wine list and ambience. Korean BBQ fusion menu with the usual suspects of chicken, beef, pork or lamb as sets, or other choices of individual serves of brisket, steak, etc. A refreshing twist was the non traditional options of side dishes sides, like salsa, corn on the cob, roasted potato, and shredded greens. Hopefully the addition of this trendy new spot to the Koornang Road strip will see others like it pop up too. read more

Good Korean BBQ. Coming on a weeknight I did not expect this place to be busy at all. Surprisingly the entire downstairs was full, luckily there was upstairs seating available so we managed to nab a table for two. For the amount of food, the price was reasonable in my view. We ordered the Kim's special, five different meats served with two salads and rice with kim chi and pickled onion ($78 total including drinks). Service was prompt, but be mindful if it's already a hot day you'll be sitting by a hot grill hearing your legs and face. Staff came and cooked our meats and I would have preferred just to do that myself, there may have been a lack of communication as every 30 seconds we had a male and female server alternating cooking at our grill which was totally unnecessary. The meat was lovely, though the marinade tasted the same for all meats. Rice was good, the kim chi was an absolute stand out, but the tomato and avocado salad... I didn't understand how it fitted in with everything else. Whilst enjoyable, not the best I've ever eaten. My hair also smelt of the grill upon leaving and I did feel somewhat rushed- not sure if it was due to another booking or whether the staff are just incredibly efficient. Overall it's worth a try. This is my new fave place in the hood I have decided. I took the extended family and shouted them dinner on a busy Friday night as I figured it would be a new experience for them. Imagine a foodie space full of eclectic people, minimalist interior and a table of six peeps which look slightly confused about what Koren BBQ is and how to use metal chopsticks. Now imagine a tall hipster in yellow Saltwater sandals waving said chopsticks around like a wise ninja and instructing them on the joy of Asian food (that's me in case you missed the subtle reference). For $39 per person, you can select the set menu and feast on either beef, chicken, pork, ribs or lamb and you also get steamed rice, kimchi, lettuce salad and pickled onion on the side. Throw an Asahi on top and you're in Korean BBQ heaven. Part of the fun with Korean BBQ is watching everything cook right in front of you, dropping food everywhere, smelling like roasted meat afterwards and eating all the kimchi. Either way, its a fun way to spend a couple of hours having a casual dinner and catching up and its not too pricey. For the record, even my Greek mother dug the food and she now has a fetish for Asahi Super Dry and kimchi. Respect. read more

Visited again with my sister for her birthday and we tried the set meal this time. For 2 people, the set meal was $39 and we practically rolled out of our seats to the car. The set meals work really well because if you can't be bothered choosing and are happy with an extra salad, 2 rices, soup, grilled vegetables (potatoes and corn) then it is a bargain! read more

Had been thinking of going to this place for a while as it is near a great Japanese spot, saw that it had 94% on urban spoon so check it out. Was very pleasantly surprised, ordered the moo set as recommended and the meat was fantastic. BYO for $2 a person is a fantastic bonus. I tried all the highlights beef skirt, beer gigadi or some damn thing and the chilli pork belly. The meat was fantastic but the side dishes were lame as. They even put Australian pickled onions as one of the sides - pretty ballsy. I've been to Korea and had the finest BBQ grill there, usually the sides are fantastic, especially the salads. Go here for the great meat and BYO policy and low prices. Just don't expect it to be as good as downtown Seoul. read more

My wife and I ordered the "oink pack" (pork) with chilli sauce marinade ($39) which was delicious and highly recommended. The side dishes could have been better as the beef soup was bland and the salad leaves somewhat dismal. Overall a good experience, friendly service and an excellent bbq! read more

Mrs. Kim's is serviceable Korean BBQ at an ok price for Melbourne. Some drawbacks are that the grills are a little tiny and at least when I went, the service was only mediocre. The banchan servings were sparse and overall not what I expect from good Korean BBQ. Didn't have a bad time and the meat was good, but I doubt I will go back. read more

Just like any other korean bbq place to me. I do like the fact that they give really fresh produce for you to eat with your bbq meat. The restaurant isn't that big and you'd definitely come out smelling like bbq smoke. Need more vents! Staff are always busy so service is slow but we did get everything eventually. read more

Good local bbq find for the suburbs. It's always packed and noisy. Staff is quite helpful and efficient.

The staff was friendly and it has good customers service. We came there late, the shop was almost closed, but the staff served us very well, we felt welcome at the door. Food was nice and various options. read more
