My friend got the AOBA bento box for around $18 and we shared both bento boxes. It surprised me when the chicken tasted so good. The best of the S&S is the singular salmon slices and the seaweed that was on the salad :). You also get miso soup first before your bento box (if stated). The place is small but the inside looks like what Japan looks like, according to my friend that went there. The were two females who worked there that was complete opposite. The one that took our order was very nice and cared about what we wanted. However, when my dish came the other female took over and was a bit rude.

We had water served to us and the service was quite good. We proceeded to order a Vegie Combo Box, Aoba Summer Bento Box and a Teriyaki Chicken Bento box with a sushi platter on the side. The vegie bento box came with tofu, spring rolls, edamame, eggplant, some salad, 2 sushi maki rolls and two croquettes i think potato. The mix of all this food was delightful and all tasted good to very good but none of the dishes were below good/average but yet none were spectacular. The croquettes were the best out of all of them. We also had miso soup before our meals were given to us which was a nice touch. The sushi platter had sashimi and sushi with fresh, beautiful textured fish being used on all of them. The sushi tasted great but it wasn't excellent as the rice and the seaweed could've been better but the main thing was the fish was fresh and wasn't soft that it was going off nor hard which meant that the fish wasn't great quality. Overall this experience was quite good and for 3 people only being around $60 to $70, for the great food we received we would definitely come back to this quaint restaurant. One tip I could give is to expand the eating space so that more people can sit and enjoy this good food

If you're looking for it, it's the arcade with Salsa and Laurent Bakery at the beginning from the Burke Rd entrance. They have all the traditional sushi rolls here, but the taste and standard of the rolls are just miles better than anywhere else locally. The calamari rolls and tempura prawn rolls are the standout here for me; delicious. What's good is that all the rolls are $2.50 no matter what the filling. Wasabi and ginger are also on offer at no additional cost. There's a good selection of sashimi and bento boxes here, as well as some hot food choices which I am yet to sample. They even sell steam dim sims. There's a small area inside and out to eat in if you fancy taking the weight off to watch the world go by. The service is always very friendly here too. Sushi is everywhere in Melbourne and not always of a great standard. Oishii definitely does it better than most. Be sure to give it a go.
