Had a leak of transmission fluid in my 2015 Mercedes GLA 250 diagnosed by my regular mechanic (who does not do transmission work). He arranged towing my car to Mr Transmission after speaking to Mr Transmission by phone on October 22, 2026. I did not receive a call from Mr Transmission to confirm that they received my car or to ask me anything about what I knew about the problem. The fact is they never called me until October 27, when they told me to pick up my car. Between October 22 and 27 I initiated calls to them four times. Each time I got someone at the front desk who did not know anything about the work being done. I just received excuses that they did not have an open auto lift to put my car on, the mechanic was out getting parts, etc. This experience does not compare to others on Yelp* and Google reviews which stated service was timely, professional etc. On their call to me October 27, they used obfuscatory language to describe what they found and did. I did understand that they were going to charge me $747.47. They ask me several times who my mechanic was (remember my mechanic arranged towing of my car to Mr Transmission). They said my mechanic put two quarts too much oil in the motor on the last service, and advised that when I need an oil change I should bring it to them. I checked the work order from my mechanic on the last oil change, and they used 5.7 quarts which is the proper amount.
At this point I was stuck. They had my car and I couldn't do without it, so I went to Mr Transmission on October 28, to pick it up. Upon entering the front office there was no one present to greet me and no bell to ring to get someone's attention. I waited a few minutes then walked to the back of the front office area where two men were seated at a desk talking. I called to them and explained that I was there to pickup my car. They seemed disappointed at being interrupted. One man stood up, walked toward me, offered to shake my hand and did so with a limp handshake (a weak handshake suggests weakness, low confidence, indifference, or a lack of engagement). He mumbled a list of things they did to my car and took my credit card and returned only the credit card receipt. He seemed satisfied that he had completed his duty. I informed him that for my records I needed an itemized receipt. He was upset that he had to give this routine service that all my mechanics supply. I followed to the office from which he came. He pulled out a legal size form which looked like a work order. I informed him that a copy of that would do. He replied that he couldn't do that because his copy machine only printed regular size forms and it would cut off the bottom of the legal size form. I told him that would be satisfactory. Without reply he sat down, pulled out at pad of 8x5.5 inch generic (ie. no professionally printed heading) and hand printed Mr Transmission at the top, followed by five lines of hard to decipher printing, and the bill for $747.47. There was no itemization of parts, labor, or tax. No mechanics name. This "receipt" was placed in my hand and I was ushered to the door. On the way out I was reminded to come back to Mr Transmission for my next oil change.
I believe the figure of $747.47 for the bill was pulled out of thin air as there was no itemization of parts, labor, or tax. The lack of a figure for tax makes me wonder if this business is doing something fraudulent.
I also believe Mr Transmission is padding the reviews. The Google reviews give a 5 star rating with 675 reviews, many of which are no brainers like good work, fair price, very professional etc. The Yelp* reviews are half 5 star and half 1 star. The 1 star reviews are very damning. It's very strange that on Yelp* there are no 2, 3, or 4 star ratings. Is Mr Transmission cooking the books on reviews?
This review is being made on Sunday November 1. I will be checking with Better Business Bureau and any other pertinent entities tomorrow. Check back if anything else shows up.
I hope this review helps someone looking for work on their vehicle. Avoid Mr Transmission.
