Hi Yelp! I have been to Mr. Taco several times, and wanted to review them but they weren't on Yelp. SO I ADDED THEM. As a paramedic from Abilene, where there are by my estimation, more breakfast burritos/tacos per capita than anywhere else in the country, I appreciate a good breakfast taco. Mr. Taco Jr. may have the best chorizo I've ever eaten. If I am exaggerating, excuse me, but it's really freakin good. Prices are extremely reasonable, and service is quick. I've only ever gotten it on duty, and there's hardly a wait at all. The tacos come at me piping hot, with cheese gooey melted. The tortillas are soft and warm. They have two hot sauces, a very very mild red, for taste only, and a moderately warm green sauce to choose from. 5 stars from me. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner from Mr. Taco jr in Whitehouse several times and every time it's delicious. They have the best breakfast tacos and their dinner crunch tacos are perfect as well. The drive through is quick and inside the building is clean. 10/10 read more

Best Tex Max tacos w homemade tortillas in North Texas bar none. I suggest breakfast is the best with lunch plates also very good. The service has always been too notch. This is a true hole in the wall with great authentic food. Nothing fake about Mr Taco! Their carne guisada is almost as good as my moms but on the spicy side also sometimes. I can stop without saying my go to is the huevos rancheros which is top shelf. read more

Quality of the food is good, prices have risen to a level that are making them not a good value. I also wish that they would come up with a method to differentiate the wrappers. When you order several tacos of different varieties it becomes a mess sorting the out. read more

If I could give a zero I would. We had a large order for delivery and were able to enjoy only a few items: one of the crunchy Tacos, a chicken Taco and a Taco Salad. Everything else was dripping in grease and most was tossed in the trash. One "crunchy" Taco was on two soggy soft tortillas with nothing but a big meat log of Ground beef (which was dripping grease) We were so disappointed and I WILL be calling them when they open. La Herradura Tex Mex on 110 is the way to go! We will never stray from there again. read more

Perhaps I had an abnormally bad experience here, and maybe their breakfast menu is fantastic and doesn't affect people wandering in for dinner, but it felt like they didn't know how to deal with a guy coming in asking for a meal of enchiladas, rice and beans.... oh yea if you want chips and salsa that's extra. First off their parking lot is a hellhole of issues to navigate if you don't own a huge truck. Their parking arrangement goes out of their way to suck, and they were given a tough circumstance, but it was frustrating to learn I had to narrowly traverse around their (sorry for being vulgar) shitty and disastrously designed parking lot to learn that there were more cars than people in their restaurant. The paint on the pavement is all faded and makes no sense so you don't realize you're in a handicap spot until you have to back out of the 15' of available roadway and find somewhere else to park. I hope you remember where those stupidly deep potholes are, because you're going to hit them again if you have a small car. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I love hole in the wall Mexican restaurants. The fact that getting into this awful location, with my little hatchback car, was actually exciting because I expected the food to be amazing. But instead of cultured Mexican men and ladies cooking, with their indentured children serving freaking amazing food, this place offered three teenagers serving overpriced junk at barely tolerable quality. The beans where canned, the riced microwaved, and the enchiladas contained nacho cheese. I had to wait 20 minutes in a nearly (there was was one other customer, a small family in the) empty restaurant, then I broke and demanded they add the garnishes promised on their menu, side salad with some crappy vegetables with my overpriced meal that didn't include chips and salsa. Oddly all three employees didn't really respond. Shortly afterwards, however, the (I think 15 yr/old) lady working that day deserves fantastic credit as she customer serviced the hell out of me afterwards. She acknowledging that I was upset, offered me complimentary chips and salsa (I declined), explained that they were dealing with an ordering crisis at that second, fed me a free sopapilla (couldn't say no, they were very yummy), and honestly answered that they'd just opened a few months ago and the owner wasn't often around daily for customers like me wanting to consult with them. I'm assuming that either: they're breakfast food is amazing, or something else is keeping their business open. The quality of their dinner food was flatly garbage, and if it weren't for their floor manager I'd thought they were beyond caring about customer's opinion of their establishment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I know it's Whitehouse Texas, but I've sampled the two surrounding Mexican restaurants and they rock. There's no reason I should get an undercooked tortilla with aweful meat, decent red sauce, and ugh nacho cheese as enchiladas, a hard glob of beans, and overheated rice on a plate for around $9 dollars. The owner may hear this and blame his staff, but I'm told he doesn't show up every day, so I guess it doesn't matter because he's not going to be there to fix it. read more

I was searching for tacos the night before and came up short but it was well worth it to find Mr. Taco Jr. the next day. Everything is freshly prepared when you order it and one thing I look for in taco places is scratch made tortillas, which they do. If you haven't, nothing takes a taco to the next level like a fresh tortilla. I ate with that family so we got plenty of options. Let's begin with the breakfast tacos. I got Potato & Egg and Link Sausage & Egg. The potatoes were cooked perfectly both being soft while holding their structure and not becoming mush when mixed with the eggs. The link sausage were sliced and had a nice crust on them in the taco. Both were hot and fresh. When you finished with one, the next was still piping hot. I also had the Ground Meat & Potato lunch taco. The ground meat (beef) was sautéed in spices along with the potatoes and was delicious. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these tacos. I also had a side of beans to round out my meal (along with a complimentary margarita). Unlike other places, the beans didn't taste like they just opened a can and threw them in a bowl. Continuing with breakfast, a family member got the Kids Pancake Plate and everything was also hot and fresh. The pancake was freshly griddled, nice and fluffy, and came with a scrambled egg and a sausage patty. Now from the lunch menu, we ordered the BBQ Plate which came with 2 slices of brisket, rice, beans, pico de gallo, and 3 tortillas. The brisket was nicely smoked with a good smoke ring on the slices and was seasoned well. The pico was fresh and everything was nice and hot. The brisket was good by itself or when placed in a tortilla and topped to make a taco with the other ingredients. Finally, that last order was another Ground Meat & Potato taco and a Chicken Fajita Taco. The chicken fajita taco came with guacamole and pico de gallo. The chicken was seasoned well opposed to some guacamole's, this one had a little kick to it. Not a lot, but enough for you to know it was there and gave it a good flavor. And I'm case you missed it, they had COMPLIMENTARY margaritas. And they weren't watered down either, depending upon your personal tolerance, you may not want to indulge in a full cup. Maybe just a half or quarter cup. But to each their own and you have to know your own personal limits and limitations. I mixed the two flavors (traditional and strawberry) and it was good. Add a salted rim and a lime and you have a ready made party. So if you couldn't tell, I said all of that to say if you're in the Whitehouse/Tyler area, this is definitely a place that you need to check out. They also have covered outdoor seating. Went for breakfast today. Wife had huevos rancheros. Very well cooked eggs, perfect potatoes and beans. I had the breakfast quesadilla with beans, cheese, and chorizo. WOW. The quesadilla was more like a giant empanada with a huge side of very traditional guac. Avocado toast on crack. Wonderful hole in the wall place. We will be back over and over and over! read more
