Little gem in Windsor! Researched before my partner & I ate there as I heard it gets really busy. I understand how people are underwhelmed with their service but it can't be helped if they're so busy it just means their that good! As long as the food quality doesn't go down I'm content. I love the modern asian menu & the vibe & atmosphere that Mr. Miyagi provides. Its a place I see myself going to for enjoyable food & drinks with friends after work.

I adore Mr M's! The menu is kitschy, trendy and an upmarket take on some pretty good food. My latest visit (Saturday night) was with a group of friends for a birthday dinner and was possibly one of my favourite meals I've ever had at Mr Miyagi. We had: - edamame (duh!) - Miyagi fried chicken (a favourite of mine) - spider crab banh mi - wagyu beef tataki - prawn dawgs - Jimmy crack corn - Korean BBQ ribs - nigiri and sashimi mix The spider crab was PERFECT! I want to come back tonight just to eat loads of MFC, spider crab banh mi and prawn dawgs! The cocktails here have always been scrumptious but the frozen rosé (frosé) is to-die-for and hard to stop at one (or two!) The Domaine Chandon Pinot Noir Rosé that is used is the perfect base with it's strawberries and cream notes. The only downside is the waiting time and service can be a little slow, but if you don't mind waiting then the food definitely makes up for it tenfold!

Trendy and chic, very hipster. The menu is pretty much bar food, good twist on classics... flavor profile could be a bit bolder for my palette. It's a shame they don't serve the entire menu in the bar area, it's the best part of the entire Mr Miyagi experience. Service was a bit off when I visited, perhaps teething issues.

It's not everyday you get to have dinner with movie starts and robot heros. The decoration is fantastic and very creative, I sat by the bar in front of Godzilla with Astro Boy hanging off the drinks rack. Pleasantly surprised! Walking along Chapel st, this place caught my eye with it's dim interior and smell of juicy food. The menu is categorized for you and almost sounds like a story - either dirty or like an action film. Starting from my most favorite: Nori Taco - with grilled salmon belly and mayo $12 Small Nigiri and Sashimi Combo $24 (very fresh tasting sashimi) BBQ Pork Ribs $14 (really smokey and crunchy) Hickory Smoked Quail $18 (not my favorite but the other half gobbled it up) After my experience, I read the reviews and must say I think they have improved as our server was at first a bit short with us however she became more relaxed throughout the night and we found out that it was actually her 2nd shift and her 1st time having a full section to herself! I would go back again and next time I want to try to Fried Chicken since I had food envy about it as the other tables munched no box-fulls of them.

Tia went above and beyond for us, her service was amazing and she demonstrated that she genuinely cared for our needs. Provided us with complimentary champagne and a lovely hand written card congratulating us for graduating uni! Definitely a lovely experience Cocktails are really yummy And food is good too from the banquet menu It is enough to be satisfied and it came out quick - maybe too quick but the staff are always available to help with anything

It's a love hate relationship with Mr Miyagi. Love the food, hate the service. We arrived right on 6pm, so not too busy yet. After being seated at the bar, you're left to your own devices until you can flag someone down to take a drink order. The menu is full of appetising / interesting Japanese fusion. Good luck though getting someone to take your order. Between the front of house chatting and giggling with the bar staff and the rest of the service team chatting with each other, it's a veritable vacuum for service. I was very close to getting up and leaving! On a positive note the Japanese team members who presented the sashimi platter and waygu sushi were very descriptive and friendly. The tuna cracker is always a standout.

Had an awesome meal here. Very relaxed vibe inside (although apparently it gets real busy later at night). I had the soft shell crab taco, some fried chicken, and a few glasses of wine - loved it all. Staff were real friendly too. I'd definitely return here to try other things.

Jumped at the chance to dine at Mr Miyagi one Friday night. It's cool, but you know that. For drinks a must try is the Mr Martini, a perfectly balanced martini garnished with pickled ginger. Food highlights included the tuna cracker, prawn balls and scallop pancakes. I was impressed with the wine knowledge and enthusiasm expressed by some of the wait staff, although the service on the whole was bit hit and miss. We did visit early on so I am hoping things will smooth out. I will give it another go in not too long.

Loved the vibe and setup of this place. The nori taco lived up to my high expectations (a MUST try) and the salted watermelon martini was dangerously good.

Ok, I have been wanting to try Mr Miyagi since I was born (slight exaggeration) and for the most part, it did not disappoint! The food is amazing, those Nori Tacos need an Oscar - so delicious and great balance of complimentary flavours and textures. And I love that the pulled pork buns come deconstructed so you can make them up as you like them. Everything else was great including the waiter. My one small criticism was, while waiting at the bar, we were told we had a table only to get up, gather all our belongings and then advised 'oops sorry, it was the people next to you. I'm sure yours won't be long'...not cool! Wait time was a little too long for a Tues night but the food and decor won me over....I'll be back!

very first place i visited during my visit to Melbourne. This seems to be the place the locals are going. It was so busy and packed- finally got seated after 20mims of wait. They pretty much serve bar food, so the portions were very small. But all the dishes we had was amazing(delicious and even creative). They also have a great selection of wine from all around the world. The service was wonderful as well, the waitress was very helpful-she actually helped me to choose the menu- and very attentive. I also loved the ambiance here- very hip!

The service was so bad, it was like they had bad blood with me. They never gave me a reason for the way they treated me. They just acted like I was invisible. They made me feel like I was the last great American dynasty, but not in a good way. The quality of the food was poor and not at the correct temperature. It was a cruel summer for my taste buds. The dishes were bland and boring, nothing like the sparks fly I expected. They served me cold as you sushi and wildest dreams noodles. The restaurant was not clean and well-maintained. It looked like a place where the lovers go to hide away. There were stains on the tablecloth and dust on the shelves. It made me feel like I was in exile. The atmosphere was dark and gloomy, like a haunted house. The lighting was too dim, the music was too loud, and the design was too cluttered. The restaurant lacked a clear brand story and personality. It did not impress me with a great view or a remarkable ambiance. I would not recommend this restaurant to others. I think Kanpai is in a great location for the perfect balance. ~ Inside, its dimly lit, warm atmosphere is relaxing and the staff are welcoming and understanding. ~ The drinks come in big glasses, the food is well presented, and orders come out quickly. ~ The open kitchen style is nice, albeit not particularly unique, finding comforts in the more traditional teppanyaki-styled Japanese restaurants. The downside of this is that when the restaurant is busy, I imagine the kitchen sounds could get quite noisy for the seating environment. ~ The restaurant is open 'late' on some nights -- and they mean it more than other restaurants in the area. Kanpai was actually my second choice of places to try, however arriving at the first restaurant at 10.15pm on a Saturday night and finding it closed made me give Kanpai a try. On the Saturday night I was here, the kitchen closed at about 11pm. ~ Sadly, the entrees and mains did not come out at the same time. It's a little pet peeve of mine, but if I'm eating with someone else and my entree arrives ten minutes before theirs, I have the choice of either being rude and gobble it up without waiting for theirs to show, or allow it to go cold while waiting for my dining partner's dish. Overall, the food was tasty, the environment was quiet and clean, the experience was positive, and the staff were kind. I even had a laugh at the waiter who I witnessed using an array of chopsticks and sticky-tape to rescue a receipt that had fallen behind the fridge. A positive dining experience. I will be back.

In fact you could even say that it is 70% entertainment and 30% eating. The first time we went here I had no idea of what to expect. I didn't even know what Teppanyaki was (The word teppanyaki is derived from teppan, which means iron plate, and yaki, which means grilled, broiled or pan-fried - so wikipedia tells me). It gives your cook the opportunity to cook in front of guests. Having no idea what to expect probably heightened the experience for my first time. So just go there and don't read on. STOP READING NOW! If you've decided to find out more then you can expect plenty of the following: - the bowl and rice catch - the egg in your face - more comical events The food itself is actually really good. And you don't have to work for it every time. We ordered sashimi on the side which was also really good. Starting at $65 this isn't a cheap meal. But it is definitely worth the experience if you want an amusing night. It is really the chefs who make the experience and they might be from anywhere in Asia but all have the common thread of being a riot! I think they must get personality tested before getting this gig. I forgot to mention... our Korean chef told me I looked like a white version of a famous Korean movie star.

The servers were always refilling water and our drink orders and the chef "Crazy John" was hilarious. The downside was that the food was overcooked and often burned. I ordered the Osaka Set for $65 and hubby ordered the Emperor's Set for $100. He said afterwards that it wasn't worth the $35 extra. He got half a lobster tail, wagyu beef, scallops and a dessert for the extra money but the lobster tail was actually a crayfish and was very overdone. Seafood in general should only be cooked for a short period of time, but most of it was rubbery and overdone. Hubby said that my steak for the $65 set was better than the wagu that he received. They do all the fancy grilling/chopping/throwing of food, which was very well done and then moved us to another table up front for the birthday cake and tea and coffee. The reason I'm not giving a meh, i've had better is that they give you really nice service and a birthday photo for you to keep at the end. The details are nice but the kids birthdays, (screaming, bumping of chairs) and the actual food isn't as good as other places. It's good for a group but not for a date night. NB, the better teppanyaki places I've been are: Burwood Teppanyaki in Melbourne, Kobe Japanese Steak House in Maui, Kobe Japanese Steak and Seafood House in Vancouver and Showchef Teppanyaki in Sydney.

It's almost easy to miss walking by as the new kid on the block, if it weren't for all the people shovelling down the goods. Walk up, order and wait for your name to be called. (Note: Only cards accepted - no cash!) The assembly line is more like a fresh deli, with big jars and bowls full of fresh veggies and proteins. You pay a set price depending on the protein you order - tofu starts at $12, chicken, salmon and kingfish are $14, tuna is $15. You follow the easy instructions above starting with the base - rice or salad, then protein, two long lists of toppings, and then your sauce. They have Korean rice, so yummy! Even their toppings go the extra mile with red pepper edamame, pickled cucumber with ginger, Kimchi, wasabi tobiko, two kinds of sesame, flavoured mushrooms, the list goes on. You can have it all! The portion size is extremely generous. I was super hungry and still could not finish it. Easy take away for a second meal! Fish quality was good for what could be called 'fast food.' Their sauces are spectacular too - traditional poke is shoyu style, but you can get two types of mayo, jalepeno, a total of five or six to choose or try a few. I'll definitely be back as this is the perfect summer food, leaving you feeling healthy and happy. :)
