At long last we tried it! Arrived just after 6 and the place was jam packed and the noise level at its fullest. We were immediately seated at the end of the bar towards the kitchen and surprisingly my partner and I could have a normal conversation without shouting. We ordered a bottle of Pipers Brook Pinot Gris ($70) which was served very promptly. The waitress that served us was friendly, helpful and very attentative.
She recommended that we order five dishes to share. We picked the smoked salmon Tostadita ($16) with apple which I enjoyed the most, but it was quite difficult to eat this little stack as it all came tumbling down. Next up (in quick succession) was the Tempura Spider Crab Bahn M ($12) which we both did not enjoy. It was dripping with a very fishy tasting sauce or perhaps the fishy dripping taste came from the crab itself, who knows! Immediately after our Black Pig Gyosa (5 pieces for $15)was served and that was very nice. Hardly wiped our mouthes when the third dish, Duck with toasted Roti Wrap ($22) arrived, this was nice but the inside filling was extremely hot almost as if it was heated inside a microwave oven.
Quite frankly at this stage we felt we had eaten enough savoury dishes and asked for our MFC be cancelled and ordered one serve of Apple Doughnuts ($15) which was the best ever!
All in all our meal came to $150 and we tipped the waitress a deserving $20.
It was an experience, albeit on the expensive side. Will we come again? Probably not. read more
