Also, the breakfast buffet was pretty good, and the staff there attentive. There are many negatives, however. First, the place is dirty, and run down. In our four day stay, they didn't change the linens, or vacuum the room. The sink doesn't drain, and they ignored my complaints for three days. The toilet is so poorly designed that it stops up every day. Another issue is the location. There are no grocers, or restaurants, within reasonable walking distance. You need to depend on Uber, or the strange bus service to go anywhere. There is substantial road construction going on in both directions, making everything more difficult. The front desk personnel are not particularly helpful. They generally ignore your requests, and the information they give you is generally unreliable. The hotel was listed as 4 1/2 stars, and is expensive. There is no justification for the price, or the rating.

I'm not sure how much benefit you'll receive from one session, but it's definitely relaxing and things that are relaxing are always lovely! The facility has about 15 private rooms with a large bath tub in front of a picture window that over looks the beautiful Pacific coast. Upon arrival we were asked if we'd like to add on a massage after our hot bath. The hot bath is 20,000 CLP and both including massage is 45,000 CLP. We had 45 minutes of private time in the bath. The water was hot but naturally started to cool off about 20 minutes in so I turned on the hot water myself and replenished. The facilities are spa-like but in need of an update. Some of the surfaces and finishes look worn and old. It doesn't detract from enjoying the bath though. After the bath I had a 45 min massage in the larger room that also has a view of the coast. The massage was relaxing and nice, but really it's only a half body massage. She only worked on back, shoulders, neck, and arms, while I was face down. She never asked me to turn over and she didn't work on my lower body. Included with your hot bath service is a plate of fruit and green tea, which we very much enjoyed. I was pretty hungry though so I decided to order from the menu as well. I had the artichoke and olive quiche and salad. It was fine. I mean it reminded me of the term 'spa food'. It definitely wasn't terrible but it's not something to specifically go there for. The desserts were great! The raspberry meringue is delicious! If you are in the area (Vina del Mar or Concon) I recommend stopping by for a relaxing afternoon. I don't think it's worth a special trip.

The hotel common spaces are small and quaint. The dining room seems small for a hotel, but it's encircled with windows so you have a great view while dining. We had a one night stay in a Junior King Suite and it was spacious with additional seating in the room and a balcony with additional seating so we could enjoy the ocean sounds. The room was clean and presentable although some fixtures and finishes seemed worn and outdated. My suggestion would be to include a bidet feature in the bathroom. Even if a full fledged fancy seat bidet can't be installed, it would be great to have the small handheld feature for cleansing. Breakfast is included with the room and is a continental style with fresh juices and you can also order scrambled eggs. The WiFi did not work well in the room which was a bit disappointing.

This review is for brunch only, not as a guest of the hotel…read more Location Well positioned right on the coast near the center of town and the famous Flower Clock is across the street! Food Brunch is served smorgasbord style on Sundays from 1pm - 4pm and offers a mix of both cold and hot items. Honestly, there weren't any *breakfast* foods to choose from so most of the items are lunch entrees. We had a variety of breads, meats, cheeses, salmon, steak, cold seafood, ceviche, a salad bar, and a dessert bar with a variety of mini desserts. Brunch also includes unlimited champagne (but not other cocktails or even other wines). While this wasn't offered, we asked for a large glass of orange juice (and it was fresh squeezed!) and made our own mimosas. All of this does not come cheaply, brunch is 30,000 CLP per person. Atmosphere/decor The dining room is lovely (white tablecloth kind of place) overlooking the outdoor patio and ocean. Really great ambiance with a DJ playing music during brunch as well. Service Service was great - actually the best I've had in Chile. Servers were attentive and kept our champagne topped off. Recommendation While pricey, it's a nice experience. If the price is off putting you can go to the outdoor patio bar and order a cocktail or coffee and enjoy the views and ambiance for much less.

I use Yelp a lot when I travel, sometimes more so when traveling internationally, but there are not…read morealways a lot of American reviews, so I'm trying to pay it forward (and provide my American perspective)! The location is great. We could walk to many restaurants and beaches (see my review on La Gatita) and the Jumbo grocery store is a short drive away. Even though the building faces the water, so you think that would be west, it is actually facing north, so the patios/balconies are almost always shaded. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There is ramp access to the hotel and the pool and the building has an elevator. Only the front office has stairs and no other access option that I saw. The kitchen had less than the bare minimum. That is my only complaint. There was no sharp knife or baking dish to use in the oven. There was a salt shaker, but no pepper. Typically in US rentals, there are more non-perishable staples and kitchen gear left behind by other renters or provided by the owner. We left the good knife, glass dish, and extra cutting board we bought at Jumbo so hopefully the next renters get to enjoy those!

Boutique "Casita" nestled in the BEST location of Viña!…read more The best thing about Hotel Monterilla is location, LOCATION, location! Hotel Monterilla is one block from the Enjoy Casino and restaurants and a few blocks from the beach! It was perfect for us since we enjoyed Valpo the day we got there and after we checked in we partied in Vina at the Enjoy. Area is safe to walk even at 4AM (something you don't get in Valaraiso). The rooms were very clean and beds were comfortable. There is no AC in the rooms but that is most places in Chile. The great thing about being in Viña in the early summer is that the evening breeze feels great! We cracked our window in the night and didn't feel hot at all! For us it was perfect for a one night stay. The complimentary breakfast is offered until 10:30 AM which is perfect for those who stay out late at the Casino the night before. I wasn't crazy about the breakfast but they provide the minimal fuel you will need to get your day started: cereal, milk, coffee, fruit, and toast. Parking is available but tiny! If you have an jeep/SUV sized vehicle it will be a tight fit and you are then at risk of getting your car scratched and/or bumped. Overall, for paying $152 we felt like we got a good value since we had the room, breakfast parking all included and the location was unbeatable! We enjoyed our stay and would consider coming back to Hotel Monterilla in the future.
