Coming from the land of burgers (USA that is) and eating at hundreds of spots around the world, I…read morefeel fairly decently positioned to provide an assessment. It's a popular establishment here and what I can say is that the burger probably sits in the average category. It does not have the secret flavor touch of burgers from premium chains like Shake Shack or Five Guys. It is also far from some "gourmet" burger joints now found in many cities. I also can't even put it up to challenge some of the steakhouse burgers, but that's a different category. At the same time, it is an good quality meat and a decent bread. The bread was both too squishy and too squished. I enjoyed the burger here, but cannot say that there would be a reason to come back had I lived in Santiago. The sautéed onions seemed way too sweet for me on the burger, but someone else might like it, so can't critique on that. The good part is that there are draft cold beers to chase the burger down and again, some pretty decent fries topped with cheese. People were nice, although a bit disorganized as they didn't realize we ordered a beer until I went to inquire. If visiting the city, the spot can probably be skipped, but coming here is also not going to be a highly regrettable moment as it is overall a good meal.

There's a lot of potential here if they could improve the patties. The toppings are very good and their fries are nearly perfect. Even the veggie burger is solid. I'd happily return any time and try another burger. Service is pretty basic. You'll be eating outside under a covered patio and find multiple uncleaned tables. That could be improved pretty easily. Staff is nice and speaks basic English.

Bottom line: the is the MOST American burger joint in Santiago. Yes, music is loud, the place is…read morepretty small and jam-packed, but all of that is worth it if you want a delicious, juicy burger that tastes like home. We had heard about Honesto Mike's through a friend and decided to check it out before visiting a friend in the hospital. We thought we were arriving early (within 1 hour of opening), but even though we were on gringo time, the place was already packed and we were third on the wait list. As others have pointed out, Beervana next door is also a creation of the same owner and we were told that we could take our receipt next door for a discount on beer. Whoohoo! The food is amazing. They actually have fried pickles ("frickles") on the menu, though I opted not to order them because our server indicated they are on the sweet side (like everything else in this country, sigh...a croissant is NOT a donut, Chile!). Instead, we got the onion rings and were not disappointed. Even though they use red onions, which is somewhat unusual, the batter is exquisite and we had to ask for extra dipping sauce (it's like tartar sauce) because my husband thinks that onion rings are just a vehicle for getting sauce in his mouth. When we first sat down, we were greeted and placed our beer orders. Since we had walked a long way, I was very thirsty and ordered a pint glass of whatever was on #19 that day (there's a huge chalkboard that looks like a calendar with each of their beers on tap listed). I was surprised to see the very-USA influence on everything here from the decor, to music, to beer and food. The people next to us were drinking their beers out of Sierra Nevada pint glasses--something I haven't seen in about a year. Definitely made me feel right at home. The beer was delicious as was everything else. One oddity was that we wanted to order a burger and fries to go so we could take it to our friend at the hospital, but our server told us it was not possible. WHAT!?! We felt terrible because we'd been texting our friend photos of the menu so he could escape having to eat yet another hospital meal during his long-term stay. Our server explained that the burgers are so tall and huge that they do not fit in a to-go box and it's just not their policy (take-out food is a really big thing in Santiago, and I can see how that would be a slippery slope for them). We artfully crafted a simple work-around: We ordered 3 meals and when one of them arrived on the plate, our server immediately took it to the back, broke it down, and boxed it for us. Voilà! When we arrived to our American friend's hospital room, he was overjoyed and pretty much devoured the burger in 30 seconds, just as the nurse came in and jokingly scolded him for eating non-hospital food. We will DEFINITELY be coming back here again and bringing our friends. It is a shame they don't do takeout, but as other Yelpers have noted, the kitchen is just too tiny. Honestly (get it?), I kind of like that this place is so small and hard to get into. I don't know that I would want them to recreate it elsewhere or expand. It's perfect just the way it is--blasting heavy metal in your face and all.

Our party of 4 ate here for dinner around 9:00 p.m. on January 18, 2017…read more Utterly shocked that this place currently averages 4.5 stars out of 8 review on Yelp. Very disappointed that a place that describes itself as a "hamburgueseria" (a place that specializes in hamburgers) serves hamburgers with beef patties that taste nothing like beef. The beef had a strange slimy/spongy "wet" texture, artificial taste & artificial-looking color. The only time I tasted something similar was also in Santiago; I was in the middle of cooking dinner, only to realize that I did not have any beef at home. So I sent my husband to the nearest Ekono to buy some beef quickly. He returned with beef in sealed, manufactured plastic package, swimming in liquid. I cut open the package to chop the raw beef & noticed that this beef felt unusually slippery. But I was in a hurry, and it did not smell bad, so I threw it into the pot. When we ate dinner, we found it to have a strange texture & artificial taste. I looked on the packaging at the ingredients & found that it was loaded with chemicals & preservatives. My husband informed me that this beef had been expensive, which I found bizarre. That is what the beef at Luco's tasted like. I would never eat there again. Only giving it 2 stars because it is a cute-looking restaurant with nice presentation of the food and the service was okay (not great). It is also the only restaurant or hamburger joint in Chile that has ever asked us how we wanted our hamburger meat cooked (which is standard practice in the U.S.). Too bad the meat is like what I imagine canned, wet dog food tastes like.

This location on Providencia has been open for some time, and I had not bothered to try it until today because I had not been out for a burger in Chile in a little over a year. Apparently what happened here is that the owner sold off the rights to the name and it was taken over by people used to churning out the same sad crap that makes local cuisine tragic. Gone is the creative menu, the high-quality meat has been replaced by vulgar gargantuan portions of sub-standard beef served at that boiled-tasting soggy medium-well brown point that is so popular in Chilean food. The menu is filled with talentless and poorly copied rehashes. The bun is huge under-baked crumbly crap (tastes like powdered milk - not at all what's visible in Evelyn K's great review), and the service is most definitely Chilean in the worst sense of the word: one single table seated, five staff hanging around chatting with each other, yet it took several minutes to get anyone's attention to get the bill, and two of them doing that very, very slimy thing that's half-way between busking and just hitting on women that walk by. The place is dead and buried.

I would not recommend tourists to go here - unless there's some sort of sportsball game you MUST watch while on vacation, skip it. If you live in Santiago though it's a good place to have on the rotation. Food: The food isn't the best I've ever had but it certainly isn't bad. I've enjoyed most things I've ordered - from pizzas to burgers. They have wings which can be hard to find in Santiago, but I can't recommend the buffalo wings. Chilean hot sauce has a distinctive flavor that is very different and way saltier than Franks/traditional buffalo sauce. I tried using it at home to make buffalo sauce and it just doesn't work - and it tasted just like the buffalo sauce here. The other sauce flavors for the wings are good though. Drinks: They have a nice variety of drinks with prices that aren't too offensive. Atmosphere: It's a gringo bar. The place is pretty huge - there are several rooms on different floors. This makes it a great place for events. I've been to several events from different groups - from language exchanges, English storytelling, to US presidential debate parties. They also seem to have themed dance parties and events that you can find on Facebook. The ambiance is California sports bar with surfaces that are a bit sticky. Service: Typical Chilean service (slow) but I have been there before when the service was actually really good. They get really busy and are understaffed but you can tell the staff is usually doing their best given the circumstances. Overall I think as long as you know what to expect you shouldn't be disappointed with this place, and I would recommend it to any English speaking foreigners in Santiago.
