Surprised to find an Irish pub in Santiago! All televisions were hooked to the Rugby World Cup with…read moreScottish and Irish supporters. Eclectic menu - steak tartare excellent, other items on the menu a mix of Chilean and Celtic. Ambience excellent as also the service.

The place has a typical Irish pub feel and supposedly they brew their own beer. I did not try the…read morebeer and am not a beer person so I cannot speak for it in that regard. I did order some fries though, which left much to be desired. The cheese sauce was bland, as was the side of sauce that came with the dish. In addition to there being an overall lack of flavor, the potatoes were cut in very inconsistent sized pieces, some appearing to be almost half a potato. This is problematic because potatoes take time to cook, and when you cook a half a potato along side a small slice, one of them is either going to be burned or way under-cooked. So half the plate was under-cooked potatoes. The food did come out fast though. The other thing that irked me was happy hour goes until 9 PM, which here really means 8:50 PM. I ordered at 8:55, and I had a feeling this was going to be problematic because speed and customer service aren't a common thing in Chile, and I was correct. Not only did the bartender wait 5 minutes to ring up the drink, but the computer system was 5 minutes fast, therefore causing me to miss the happy hour pricing. I didn't bother arguing with her as that doesn't generally get you more than a shrug, so I just paid full price. The combination of the bland and under-cooked food, and the intentional disregard to the end of happy hour makes it a place I don't need to return to. In a city as big as Santiago there's plenty of other places to go. If you're a beer person though, give the beer a try, but skip the food.

Coming from the land of burgers (USA that is) and eating at hundreds of spots around the world, I…read morefeel fairly decently positioned to provide an assessment. It's a popular establishment here and what I can say is that the burger probably sits in the average category. It does not have the secret flavor touch of burgers from premium chains like Shake Shack or Five Guys. It is also far from some "gourmet" burger joints now found in many cities. I also can't even put it up to challenge some of the steakhouse burgers, but that's a different category. At the same time, it is an good quality meat and a decent bread. The bread was both too squishy and too squished. I enjoyed the burger here, but cannot say that there would be a reason to come back had I lived in Santiago. The sautéed onions seemed way too sweet for me on the burger, but someone else might like it, so can't critique on that. The good part is that there are draft cold beers to chase the burger down and again, some pretty decent fries topped with cheese. People were nice, although a bit disorganized as they didn't realize we ordered a beer until I went to inquire. If visiting the city, the spot can probably be skipped, but coming here is also not going to be a highly regrettable moment as it is overall a good meal.

There's nothing wrong with the burgers at Streat Burger. They're plump, juicy, well priced, and…read morefilling. The problem is the meat is a little bland. There's a lot of potential here if they could improve the patties. The toppings are very good and their fries are nearly perfect. Even the veggie burger is solid. I'd happily return any time and try another burger. Service is pretty basic. You'll be eating outside under a covered patio and find multiple uncleaned tables. That could be improved pretty easily. Staff is nice and speaks basic English.
