Mike's wasn't the lowest bid, but it was the only one without contingencies, and the only one which stated up front that his crew would remove the old tile floor, repair any underlying issues with the subfloor, and level it before installing the new luxury vinyl planks. Plus we felt comfortable after meeting him about the plan and the quality of the materials/work. It took about two weeks after signing up to get the planks ordered/delivered, and then set a time to do the installation. A two-man crew showed up around 8:30 a.m., gave me some updates along the way to show what was happening (and ask some important questions I hadn't considered, like which way the new planks should run), and they finished installing the flooring and the quarterround by about 11:30 a.m. Everything looks great, and we are very happy.

My mom used Boone Flooring to have her wood floors refinished two years ago. The house is nearly 70…read moreyears old and there were never any issues with the floors - until they were refinished. The floors badly buckled in the entire house about 6 months after the refinishing. Boone said it was a moisture issue, but three plumbing companies and three air conditioning companies, in addition to a leak specialist, could never find a leak contributing to the moisture. My mom spent thousands of dollars on equipment to dry out under the house, but the floors remained buckled. Just before she moved, there was a section of wood in the dining room literally splitting open. My mom was forced to sell her retirement home for practically nothing because of the damaged floors. I would sue Boone, but my mother is too old to endure litigation.

The other wasn't available until 5 days after my request. In contrast, Blaine showed up the next day. He was prompt, polite and engaging. He explained the process of sealing the pavers and provided the best and lowest bid. When I called to hire him I was lucky as he had a sliver of a window before being scheduled out for two weeks.
