This is a small store. There is no table service and there is limited seating. This place makes some of the best sandwiches I have ever tasted. All the sandwiches are made with pork belly. Pork belly tastes great but it is very fattening. The classic is awesome but the bread is extremely hard. Ask them for the soft roll with your sandwich.

I would've given Mr. Crackles a 5-star, but the onion rings were too salty. My fiancée and I couldn't stomach them. However, they were cooked perfectly well. Still, the saltiness was too much for us to handle. The Mr. Crackles Classic THOUGH was AMAZING!!! The pork belly was cooked perfectly well! The veggies complimented the richness of the meat. The bread was crunchy and fresh! They have a wide variety of choices...classic pork belly to BBQ meat. I'm crossing my fingers that they migrate over to the USA specifically in the Bay Area. I'd be happy to work together and open a franchise as well. Heh, wishful thinking...I know!

I made sure to order extra meat on my sandwich but it seemed like they didn't put it on. The sandwich was good but definitely not the best that I've had. Would I recommend: If you haven't been here before then I would give it a try.

Crackling and Pork Belly heaven

This is hands downs the best roast pork and crispy crackling sandwich that you can get anywhere. The classic Mr Crackles is a crusty french roll filled with juicy, fatty pork that will melt in your mouth, and the crispiest crackling you will ever sink your teeth in! They also put a delicious aioli and picked vegetables in it, so it's almost got a bit of a banh mi kind flair to it. if you're in Sydney, this is a must go spot.

This is a great hole in the wall place that opens up from 12. The food is great! It's tasty, fresh, well presented. The downside is the cost. A standard sandwich is $15, if you add a drink then it's another $3 (for a can of soda) and then there's a surcharge added if you're paying by card. These are substantial detractors which is in addition to the limited space to eat with awkward bench heights. Grab your sandwich to go and camp out either new Darlinghurst courthouse or walk down to Hyde Park to try and have your lunch.

HNNNGGGHHHH My arteries! My poor, poor arteries. I'm so sorry to do this to you, but I need me some pork!!! Pork + crackling + fat = gawd damn + my poor poor arteries. Rocked up here yesterday with a friend to finally try this place out after passing by it so many times. We promptly ordered the Manwich, double the meat and half the salad, which you can get in any iteration, from pork to lamb to tonkotsu and more. They even have a monthly special roll, which this month is mexican. I opted for the sweet pork belly and he opted for the classic pork belly with a bit of chili. We also ordered a side of pork crackling (you kind of have to) and chips with chili salt. NOM NOM FUGGIN NOM. You know a meal is good if you get the meat sweats and tell yourself "I regret this decision but I would do it again." The sweet pork belly is like braised pork belly you could get at an Asian restaurant, but it's definitely on the sweet side. The original is like a pork roll (banh mi) but with much better pork. The chips were a pleasant surprise...the crackling was a bit of a let down because it was so hard it felt like you'd chip your tooth eating it. Protip: Don't get the Manwich unless you're a really big man...it's a bit too much meat. I'll be coming back for sure and ordering a normal size...and trying out their hot dogs. ***Update: So I tried their hot dog...and it's the most legitimately American style hot dog I've had in Sydney. You can order a 6" for $5 or a foot long for $7.50, with toppings $1 extra. Get it with pickles (relish) and prepare to feel like you're at a baseball game. Hello 5 stars!!!

Sweet Pork Roll: $13.50

There's something special about a culinary joint who has really found a unique sweet spot, and that's certainly the case with Mr. Crackles. Whether you're adventurous enough to go straight for the crispy pig skin or a bit more on the conservative side, Mr. Crackles very likely has a pork concoction that will suit your fancy. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? If you couldn't tell by the raw excitement radiating off of some of the other reviews, Mr. Crackles delivers, and you can tell by their pretty basic brick and mortar setup that delivery is where they bring in some serious revenue. The storefront is basic with maybe 10 seats in the entire place, and the fried pork skin is right there for all to see just to make sure that you're dedicated to what you're about to consume. Service is fast and as friendly as you could hope for, so certainly no complaints here. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? As others have stated, Mr. Crackles isn't exactly cheap, and while my Sweet Pork Roll was pretty sizable, it ran me $13.50. While that's not unreasonable ($15.00 would have been unreasonable) and other menu items are priced sub $10.00, keep in mind that this is a tier above the price range you might be comfortable with for a late night bite. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Yum. I've had pork sandwiches of all shapes, sizes and styles, but my Sweet Pork Roll was unique. In between a soft and buttery roll (akin to what you'd have your lobster roll served in back stateside) was some delicious and tender sweet pork mixed with a lettuce and mayo blend. Replace the roll with an asian bun and you'd be looking at a classic pork bao sandwich, which I think is why I liked it so much. Great flavor, great consistency, and a great sandwich. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? It's close, but the price range and somewhat narrow focus of the menu make it such that I can't quite go five stars here. It's close though. No Star Granted.

Mr. Crackles rolls - Pork, lamb and Prawn

Although the Crackles Classic is meant to be the star dish of this joint, I would highly recommend the Prawn Po' Boy instead. It has tempura prawn, pork floss and a hint of chilli a lime - It's hard hitting in flavor without being over salted like its pork counterpart. This is an awesome post-party feed if you happen to be around Oxford St. However, I would avoid the crackling cups, they are way too thick and salty to be enjoyable, I struggled to finish one piece.

We went to Mr Crackles specifically for the crackles and it was worth the $5. Super salty, crunchy yummy goodness. It's a giant roasted pork skin found in my pulled pork sandwiches. By itself, it's a very salty snack. Perfect with beer! Not a dining establishment but they do have a small counter if you want to eat there. Most of the people we saw there were for take out or takeaway (Aussie speak) Being Asian, Roasted Pork Skin is not a novelty but this is a different style, thicker harder and crunchy like a cookie. Good to try for the comparison.

I was fully expecting this place to be overrated, but it is actually really good. The pork roll while expensive is very delicious. The crackling is so crunchy, and the pork meat is so moist and tender. The bun is also very crunchy and freshly toasted, and the coleslaw just has a hint of sour and freshness which balances the fat so well. The seating area is tiny though, and it does get quite busy

Ummm, yeah, so this place....IT"S F-ING STUPID GOOD!!!! The wife and I were rolling home last night after watching We Are the Millers, (terrible...) and I was starving, so as we rolled down Oxford St, I saw Mr Crackles and yelled at the wife to pull over! I've been wanting to eat here for a while, mainly just because the name is so awesome, but also because I love pork and pork rinds!!! So, as the wife swung across multiple lanes of traffic and swerved into the bus lane, I ran into the shop, ordered a classic since I didn't even have time to read the menu, and then bounced around nervously looking into the street and back at the counter waiting for my sandwich to hit the counter! In less than a minute, that bad boy was out and I was back in the car! Amazing speed which is critical with a shop like this, that serves lots of drunks, and passersby. Now, on to that sandwich! Jebus Christo it was good! The pork, succulent, slightly salty, with a perfect flavor. Then just as you're loosing it over that, you hit a piece of crackling...words cannot describe the level of lust I was dealing with at this point, and I hadn't even hit the sauce and the fresh, crispy veggies layered at the bottom of the perfectly crusty soft bread of the roll!!! This seriously is the best sandwich I've had in Sydney, and probably the best one I've had anywhere in a long time, just nonsensically good!!! I'll be back on the regular, and can't wait to try the Mexican special they've got going this month!!! At $10, it was worth a whole lot more to me!

CRACKLES CLASSIC The is almost the best pork roll ever, the succulent pork is the star here, tender meat and super crispy crackling. Fresh salad and decent chewy bread were average. Not much wrong with the ingredients, the main problem is that the roll is too small, it's like Kim Kardashian trying to get in her skinny jeans - more like a salad roll with chunky pieces of pork placed on top. Despite this I would still go back for their pork, it is definitely an experience but a messy one. CUP OF CRACKLING Crackling sounds like a very good mouth-watering idea. In practice, I think it's more of a novelty. After the first bite it's good for sure, it soon dries up your mouth. Crackling without pork fat not so yum. Conclusion Personnel is not that friendly, I hope its because they woke up at 3am to start cooking that delicious pork and perfecting his crackling. Definitely an experience, with a few menu tweaks this could be one of the best pork rolls in Sydney. Just be prepared to take-away as seating is very limited. Pork is wonderful but this roll is not well constructed, Taste Baguette's one wins this one. @thesydneynoob

Scrumptious porky skin crackling delicious! For the health conscious, don't order a side of pork crackling! Burp! Lol! A little messy, greasy sandwich, but very flavorful and moist pork! It's like a fusion Vietnam banh mi classic. Try the pork classic and just add a topping of crackling for $1! I requested the chilis on the side that way you can control your heat! Delicious!!!

It seemed to have been made with some sense of standards, it seemed to have actual discernable meat inside it was tasty and it didn't appear that it might have been sitting there a few days, but instead seemed fresh! It brought back the old sausage roll and tomato sauce memories from my childhood. I might go back for another.

So you can literally order a sliver each of four kinds of cake. Hoorah! Extra bonus: open late so you can pop in for after dinner dessert.

Maybe they don't have a sweet tooth down under as much as we do. You come in and there will be people perusing the counters, tray and tong in hand, making important decisions what to get. There is a cold fridge for their more delicate, frosted treats. I happen to walk in close to their closing time. They were announcing everything was 50% off everything with a few exceptions. With the US$ having about a 30% stronger buying power, I filled up a couple bags to bring home. Didn't have to worry about breakfast this time. I would definitely NOT recommend this place for the quality of their desserts, but if you happen to be in the area and in a cake-related pinch, it will do. They are open super late on weekend nights as well, so that alone is a sizable pro.
