He estimated repairs would take about two hours, but it was done in one. He even reinforced the leg to make sure it wouldn't collapse like it had before. (It had very ambitiously been stapled into place and it's a miracle it lasted as long as it did.) He was even able to put a new dust cover into place since the previous one had gotten shredded by the leg and then my cat. There was no mess left when he was done, and he walked me through every step as he was working. 10/10, definitely recommend. I also booked an heirloom coffee table to be picked up and refinished. I cannot wait to see it come back to life like my armchair did.

Meyer inspected the sideboard, tried to get the drawers out but gave up after several minutes of pulling on the drawers. He said he needed to move the sideboard to his shop (with our help!) and that there was a good chance he'd have to first break the drawers removing them prior to repairing. He said he wouldn't give us a quote unless we gave him $180 for the time he spent inspecting the sideboard (which we are sorry we did); even so, we never did get a quote for the repair. We did get a dirty 2 inch block of beeswax for the money, though, that he told us to rub on the drawers and to get back to him. While Meyer was here, he was often rude and condescending when speaking of his experience and knowledge of working with wood furniture. We found another furniture restorer who came to our house and repaired our sideboard in place after about 4 hours of planing and sanding. He was absolutely awesome. We hate to write a negative review, but this person richly deserves it and we felt we should warn others who may be victimized.

There were 2 holes about the size of a pinky and the cavity is about the size that could fit my thumb up to its nailbed. I reached out to a few folks and got quotes. Given my prior positive experience, I reached out to Mauricio to see if this could be done. I also noticed 2 holes that I'm not sure if it was there when I first got the furniture or if something else bore out. These were about the size of a dull pencil tip but on the underside of the furniture. Mauricio was extremely patient with me upon getting the details as I was considering getting a second opinion from some local exterminators on the risk of another emergence. Eventually, I figured out some details and booked an appointment. Everything was quickly scheduled with Edgar who arrived on time promptly and quickly went to work fixing the 4 holes. By the time it was finished, I could only vaguely guess where the holes were. To someone who didn't know about the holes, it would look almost natural. All in all, this took roughly an hour or so to complete. Edgar was sure to clean up after himself and laid out some paper padding to capture any mess left behind and prevent it from touching the floor. Overall, I was happy with the price and quality of work done.
