Honestly, I generally can't handle too many hamburgers though they have some great other options, such as the loaded fries - I tend to go for the chilli ones, though the HSP, which is twice the size as the other loaded fries, is also a pretty cool option. Oh, and I should mention the excellent customer service, but that probably has something to do with us being regulars now.

On arrival the line snaked out the door with hungry punters waiting for their burgers. At $12 for the classic rude boy provides a decent sized burger with an equally impressive meat patty, crisp fresh lettuce, cheese and sauce that oozes out after a couple of bites. The burger is more reminiscent of a classic fish and chip style with a modern twist and is larger than your huxtaburger offering. Each burger arrives perfectly presented plump and ready to be devoured, no soggy, saggy buns here. The burger itself was so filling that we struggled to finish it and didn't even contemplate chips although they do have loaded fries, onion rings and potatoe gems amongst other side options. The venue is also fully licensed so you can sit out the the front and enjoy with a cold beer. What's not to love!

When eating out, I usually have a strong preference for independent eateries over chain…read morerestaurants. However, when I found out that Grill'd was doing a free burger promotion I was willing to compromise my principles. Lucky for me, it turned out that I was able to cram a big mayo coated burger in my face and still leave with my principles intact. Walking in, the first thing I saw was Little Creatures, Two Birds, and Mountain Goat beer on the drinks menu and Meredith Dairy goats cheese listed as a burger topping and I started feeling better already. I was also delighted to see that instead of one uninspired token vegetarian dish, there are 3 different veggie burger options - with three different patties. Plus salads! Nice work for a burger place. The meat eaters aren't forgotten - with grass-fed/free range beef, chicken, and lamb. Grill'd uses quality ingredients like avocado, herbed mayo, free range eggs, and buns free of sugar and artificial preservatives. One small draw back was that my veggie burger came out a bit black around the edges. But for a free promo burger that was stacked high with tasty toppings, I give the over-all Grill'd experience a thumbs up. The staff is friendly and the business also makes small donations (between $100-300 to local charities each month.) There are a number Grill'd(s) dotted around the city. I'd recommend it for CBD workers looking for a quick place to grab lunch - the quality is good and the prices are reasonable.

Well it is all true, unlike, say for example the 'healthy' part of the Grill'd business name. These burgers are not healthy. They are super tasty though. And just because they offer gluten free options does not make any of their food 'healthy'. But you really do have to give it to these guys. They know how to make tasty food and spin a good marketing line. The one that gets me every time, with this particular Grill'd in Melbourne Central, is the 'buy a burger and get a $10 movie ticket to Hoyts next door'. Why wouldn't I get a burger if I was going to see a movie anyway and I was going to pay twice the price for said movie without my delicious healthy burger. Did I just say healthy? Damn, they got me again.
