They have Time Crisis 4, which gave me a big pang of nostalgia. Anyway, this is all beside the point. I include these details for those of you who might go to arcades for anything other than Dance Dance Revolution (DDR). I swear I've spent so much money on this machine, I'm basically keeping Century City afloat. It's not like it's a particularly good DDR machine, the songs are all J-pop, the price is €1 a pop, but it's very addictive. Very addictive. Thanks to those obsessive Japanese (even more so than yours truly), the game has 5 levels of difficulty, ranging from "bloody hard" to "break down in tears". I have yet to complete a mission on the 2nd easiest level of difficulty, something I find very emasculating. Not content with making you move your feet with the timing and precision of MJ himself, they also have a great laugh randomly changing the tempo, gah!

I was surprised at how many people were playing the games, this being at 11am and the year 2013, especially when you can download most of the games on your phone for 89 cent. A nice place, somewhat a look into the past when entertainment was simpler.

That being said I've been dragged in here a few times and sometimes it can be fun to get rid of your loose change or win an ugly stuff animal that isn't worth the 4 Euros you spent trying to get it. Be warned though that these games are rigged!! Watch out for the people eying your machine too. They're waiting for you to put in all your money so they can swoop in afterwards and collect your reward. Another word of caution for the Dr. Quirkey's newbie: there are some rough people that hang out here. Because it's located on the top of O'Connell Street, you get a lot of bratty little kids that are bored and looking to rattle some cages. This place is good for a cheap thrill or if you need to kill time before you catch your bus out of town.

There's no drinks here, so you don't have the drunken debauchery that sometimes accompany casinos. There is a decent variety of games (blackjack, roulette, video poker) but they're all automated (no dealers, no chips, no cashier) and honestly it gets boring pretty quickly. Dr. Quirkey's is good for an hour or so of (relatively) inexpensive entertainment, but not much beyond that.

What I ordered: Buffalo Love Tenders (€11) Tainted Love Tenders (€12) Thicc Sweet Potato Chips (€5.50) Flaked Out Mozzarella Sticks (€7) Tropicana (€12) Kinder Clusterf*ck Cheesecake (€7.50) Buffalo Love Tenders One thing I can say about both tenders is that they weren't dry, which is sadly common for a lot of restaurants I've visited. So this was definitely a plus! The Buffalo Love Tenders were covered in a Smoked Habenero Hot Sauce, Gorgonzola Mayo, Fresh Jalapenos & Nigella Seeds. I really enjoyed it and I think the flavors worked really well together. Tainted Love Tenders When I ordered it I was a bit skeptical. I'm used to hearing how a dish is supposedly spicy but then being disappointed. The spice level in this wasn't too crazy, but they deffo had a good kick which I appreciated. These tenders were covered in Feugo Negro Sauce, Turbo Spice Flake & House Pickles. Now, I've commented about how I liked it was spicy and it wasn't dry but that is about all I can say. Personally, it could've used a little bit more flavor to accompany the spice. Apart from that, not bad. Thicc Sweet Potato Chips Sweet potato fries are my number one go-to side, and it was prettyyy good. Flaked Out Mozzarella Sticks I have mixed opinions on this. They were nice, but maybe I should've gotten a dip to go with it as they were a tad bit dry for my liking. Kinder Clusterf*ck Cheesecake Ah.. the cheesecake. I don't know what to say. It wasn't BAD, definitely room for improvement though. I can't put my finger exactly on what I didn't like, I just know I've had way better cheesecakes for cheaper prices. An alternative for dessert here could be their Vegan Creme Brulee. I personally didn't have this but my friend who was with me did and claims it was delicious so do with that information what you will Will I come back here? Most likely, I'm curious to try their Mac n Cheese and their burgers. They also win extra points for really trying to incorporate vegan options on their menu. I noticed they offer some vegan burgers and all the tenders had vegan versions too, so I'll have to give it an 8/10.

I discovered this place via Yelp and I heard it named by some local record collector and when I visited I found it pretty cool even if I do not collect or even play retro games. What I liked in this store in the first was the attitude: lotsa records everywhere, lotsa turntables to try them by yourself, lotsa selection and fair prices. The place is little, is literally underground and the people working there are pretty young and they listen to very good music with old time stereo systems that sound ok especially for the place. Someone in Dublin said to me this businness is run by Trinity College students (and it could be considering, lucky them, they are pretty young: I met three of them, a guy looking like a young Mick Jagger, a very nice lady spinning great country infected records and the self called Boss I said before (he played Sufjan Steve records, so he shouldn't be that bad :-). The young Jagger played a super cool The Clean record after we had a talk about new psychedelia and paisley underground (I found a True West record for 5 euro, or 3 records for 12 euro department down below) and I recommended it to him to check it out. So, what I really like in this store, was diggin' in that "3 records for 12 euro department", were you can really find everything, a lot of any and every type of stuff in various configurations and conditions! Some have broken covers, some got terrible vinyl condition, then same, many, are good and they can be a real deal, then they still are like they presented them: second rate purchase for one reason or another and it needs someone like me to appreciate it and buy it, just if the price is reasonable. So the first time I was very happy becouse, after having all the fun in the store listen to those records, selecting them and finally choosing a big bunch of them to buy, I was greeted by the "young Mick Jagger guy" an appreciable, appreciated and expected discount. I went out of the store very happy and find the time to come back two or three hours before the fly to come back home few days later. Sadly "the young mick jagger" left the store before I completed my new selection to purchase and when it was time to pay there was "the boss" to the register and the attitude was completely different related with the price policy even if I said the other guy had a completely different approach and it was in that moment he explained to me he was the boss there. I let my selection there literally in his hands (no purchase) becouse it was impossible to find a fair agreement (and I was a bit disappointed) then I still recommend this place becouse it is still my fav place for records in Dublin (hoping to find the right guy at the register). PS: I was still lucky: pretty much what I was interested for (circa 30 records) was bought in my first visit, those additional 10 records I left at the register wasn't essential so "the boss" didn't impacted too much on my The Rage experience. No too much "rage" at the end. :-)
