They have Time Crisis 4, which gave me a big pang of nostalgia. Anyway, this is all beside the point. I include these details for those of you who might go to arcades for anything other than Dance Dance Revolution (DDR). I swear I've spent so much money on this machine, I'm basically keeping Century City afloat. It's not like it's a particularly good DDR machine, the songs are all J-pop, the price is €1 a pop, but it's very addictive. Very addictive. Thanks to those obsessive Japanese (even more so than yours truly), the game has 5 levels of difficulty, ranging from "bloody hard" to "break down in tears". I have yet to complete a mission on the 2nd easiest level of difficulty, something I find very emasculating. Not content with making you move your feet with the timing and precision of MJ himself, they also have a great laugh randomly changing the tempo, gah!

Came here and did a little mini circuit of the entire place. Started off, reliving our childhood memories playing Tekken III, they must be the only arcade in Dublin that stocks this classic! Swiftly moved onto the pool where I got my ass handed to me, guess I can't really blame them for that one. Soon after we moved onto the main event, the creme de la creme, the bowling. Overall the place was suitably busy, had a nice crowd and also incredibly clean, something thats hard to come by in bowling alleys these days. We even topped off the day with some food which tasted damn good. If you're hosting a kids birthday party in the area, this is surely the only place to do it, kids are guaranteed to have a blast. For the adults, what better way let off some steam waiting for the kids then to kill a few zombies or lash a few bowling balls?

Two things got worried me. First, entrance door has been lock and we were let in by staff once he identified us over the window. Second, there was only a single guy (a member of staff) sitting in the glass protected booth. Didn't give us the "safest place in Dublin" feeling. Tables are nice and tidy, tho. There's second level with few more tables. We ended up going to Planet Murphy's, which appeared to be degraded even more since my last visit. But still, a good value and no trouble there.

Be warned though that these games are rigged!! Watch out for the people eying your machine too. They're waiting for you to put in all your money so they can swoop in afterwards and collect your reward. Another word of caution for the Dr. Quirkey's newbie: there are some rough people that hang out here. Because it's located on the top of O'Connell Street, you get a lot of bratty little kids that are bored and looking to rattle some cages. This place is good for a cheap thrill or if you need to kill time before you catch your bus out of town.

There is a decent variety of games (blackjack, roulette, video poker) but they're all automated (no dealers, no chips, no cashier) and honestly it gets boring pretty quickly. Everyone in secondary school who was cool used to come here on the weekends for a while, it was the cool thing to do! then it got boring and we stopped going, they introduced an entrance fee, we realised the food wasn't nice and the bowling went up a bit in price. this wasn't our dream hang out spot anymore. its still a grand spot for a spot of bowling and i have gone back quite a few times but i have only ever indulged in the bowling. They provide a trestle table and jugs of water you bring everything else so some miwadi for the jugs, disposable cups, plates, whatever Last year we got pizzas from 4 star pizza down stairs and this year the birthday boy requested happy meals. (Note to self, just get nuggets, burgers and chips in future the happy meals were mostly thrown out apart from the food!) but to be fair, a burger queue, a nugget queue, hand them Each a fruit shoot (got the same for all) and they were all happy out More killing each other in the giant bouncy area then cake, and collection. They each got a cupcake going home that I'd wrapped - no party bag nonsense here There is ONE toilet in the place. And it's on the other side of a games arcade: not good. You will need help, I had 3 mothers stay - 1 to police the door, 1 to supervise toilet trips and 1 to help me make sure no one actually killed anyone and to tidy up the cups, boxes, chips etc The lads came in as the kids were starting to go to clean up and it is worth the €125 hire to just be able to walk away from it all I have to say. You are greeted with an array of computer games (actually, some of the shooting ones look like fun) and those coin-shove machines that encourage you to throw all your spare change in in the hopes of getting that 20 euro note that looks like it is just about to fall over. it is all a bit nasty, but then, I am a 40 year old man and I am most definitely not the target audience.
