Arrgh! The laptop is on the fritz! It's off to the computer fix it shop down the road…read more ETC Computers isn't such a flashy shop but they can fix computers, my laptop to be exact. The guys behind the counter must have read my mind when I stumbled through the door with a look of exasperation on my face. When they told me it could be ready by next morning I was elated. True to word, I was able to pick it up next day. Let's say my laptop did die, I'd probably seriously think of purchasing another computer from here. They have a good range in stock and their prices were reasonable. Stretched for cash, then ask them about leasing one of their machines which is actually a great option. There is a whole range of computing accessories in store for your laptops, PCs, printers. The techie guys can troubleshoot your problems with you. Check out their website as you can also purchase online from there.

During the few days after it happens you can't help but constantly remember some other irreplaceable peice of information that is now gone forever. Don't despair friend, I had my busted hard drive partially recovered by some technical artisan at etc Computers. I don't know how he did it (I actually asked and he woudn't tell me), but I was super grateful. He only charged me like $35, which considering that some of the photos he recovered were priceless to me, is not too high a price.

There is no surprise to the fact that Mac Computers are the best selling computers in the USA, and…read morethat iPhones and iPads are the most popular in their field. Plus Mac's marketing team is extremely effective in promoting products and software, so it makes sense that they have moved almost everything to become web based, with only the hardware being sold via retailers. Yoobee is a retailer that sells Mac products, and they only do the hardware bits, so if you need software upgrades, then you need to go online. If you need advice, then you need to go online... And this is where it all falls flat. The guys and galls working for Yoobee are nothing more than sales people. They can punch in a price, and print a receipt. More than that, it depends on the person of the day. I doubt that they get any Mac training. So it is very frustrating for shoppers to get answers to everyday problems, as you would expect them to assist with small everyday issues. I'm not sure if my beef is with Mac or Yoobee, but I do feel that a specialist shop should hire staff with a more than average knowledge, or at least bother to train them. I love Macs, but you might as well buy on price, and for that Yoobee is too expensive, and there is no added value.

Yoobee - used to be the apple store in Albany Mall so I tend to still think of it that way. I own a…read moremacbook pro and an iphone 5 (man I sound like a douche saying that) but I've never come here to buy any of those bigger items. Mainly because I'm always sniffing out cheaper deals elsewhere. What I do come here for is screen protectors and covers. I know now days you can buy a cover for your macbook almost anywhere... even cheap shops for about $20. But the difference between those covers and the ones you find here is quality. I like a pretty solid cover for my laptop because I can be a bit clumsy so knocking it on tables or spilling my drink on it is likely. When I came to buy screen protectors for my new phone I sort of expected having it put onto the phone to come with the purchase. I was wrong... apparently that novelty comes at an extra charge. I can't remember now how much exactly it was but I think it was around the $5 mark. I was desperate to start fingering at my phone so I paid the extra and at least there were no bubbles on the screen! Overall opinion on the place - if you want to have a go on the latest ipad come on in and have a blast. I'm pretty sure the people know what they're talking about and they're stocked up on good stuff. But really nothing you couldn't find elsewhere.
