    Churro ice cream sandwich

My husband and I had dinner on our last night in St. John's this past week (July 2024). The restaurant looked cute, and it was not very busy, which made our experience head-scratching. We ordered drinks, which took a very long time to arrive even though there was only one customer at the bar. My red wine sangria was not very good (and had a weird "citrus slush" on top of only half of it, which was strange for various reasons), but my husband seemed to enjoy his margarita. Our food arrived literally one minute later and was also underwhelming. I had ordered the spicy habanero mango salmon, which was a summer special, and is served as a sandwich. I ordered it on a bed of lettuce instead, and was told this could be accommodated; however, when it arrived, it was on a lettuce bun, which I had specified to the server was NOT what I wanted... They offered to take it in the back and "re-do it," but I declined and just adjusted it on my end. The salmon was super salty, and was not particularly spicy, feedback of which I gave to the server, who offered to have them re-make it (I declined again). I also ordered the parmesan truffle fries, which were also not very good (too much parmesan, not enough truffle oil/flavor; btw, Gypsy Tavern on Water Street has amazing truffle fries!!). The bright spot in this experience (and the reason for it being 3 stars and not 2 stars) was the Churro ice cream sandwich. When it arrived, I had very low expectations, as I love churros and did not want to be disappointed. However, I took the first bite and it was surprisingly delicious! The churro had just the right amount of crunchiness on the outside and gooey-ness on the inside. The French Vanilla ice cream was fine, but the churros are what make the dish. However, it was not enough to make me want to return.

Great food choices and customer service. Connected to sandman hotel so very convenient if you are staying there.

Never eat here, if you want 30+ dollars for basically Boston pizza food this is your place. The sports bar vibe with fake posh theme l.

Read the fine print on the specials. Rip off. Soggy wings and they are over priced as well. Sad.

We've had a terrible winter/spring but finally summer came and the pedestrian mall in Water Street…read morewas open. It was a warm evening and the sun was out and so I and my friends decided to spend our evening at The Rose & Vine at 206-208 Water Street. We started with 2 people right after 5PM, then more friends came and right about 7PM there were now 6 of us. We were seated at the far end of their outdoor patio in a long table with a couple of sofas. First bad experience was that one of my friends was told that they ran out of wine when she asked. It was early evening and they no longer have wine. Must be good business. Around 7:30PM, 5 more friends came. One of the 2 long sides of the long table had no seating so I asked the waitress for extra chairs and she said there were none. Fine so we waited. Then the small table next to ours became available but instead of having my other friends sit at that separate table, we took 3 of the chairs, put them at the vacant long side of our long table so that our friends can join us. The female waitress didn't tell us this wasn't allowed. There was also more than enough space to navigate even if we added the extra chairs so we weren't creating a safety issue. Then came barging this male waiter who immediately berated our group saying that because we added the extra chairs and making us a big group, the restaurant can be shut down by the authorities. Most in our group are in our 50s and a couple were in their 70s, all of us are professionals and the elderly couple were distinguished members of our community. The male waiter could just have told us in a polite manner that the restaurant does not allow adding more chairs. Our other friends could just have sat at the other table, which was what happened anyway. I told him when he was walking away that he didn't have to berate our group about the business being shut down and instead just tell us that adding the chairs wasn't allowed. We have no trouble with that. What rudeness! We were an Asian group and I just hope it wasn't because of that he thought he could disrespect all of us. The other members of our group couldn't say anything and we were all just in disbelief.

I have never made a review before in my life, this was so bad I had to, we started off ordering…read moredrinks for 20 minutes to go by before someone said they couldn't order my drink. We also ordered the brie cheese when we ordered our drinks. We waited for an hour for a CHEESE PLATE, before finally asking for the bill - after asking for the bill the same server decided to bring it out to us. Will never be going there again nor recommending this to anyone.
