After travelling all over the globe, living in places like Australia, France, Vietnam, UK, I can…read morehonestly say Glebe video is by far the best video store I've been a member of. Forget Netflix, Prime, YouTube etc that manipulate algorithms to show you small list of promoted movies with various covers tricking you into thinking they have a wide selection. Glebe video has a huge variety of hidden classics and a wealth of knowledge to match anyone's taste.

Glebe Video is the best place to go in Ottawa if you're looking for foreign and older films,…read moreespecially rare titles. They have an enormous collection of foreign movies, which are usually sorted according to country. They also still hold on to hundreds of VHS titles, often because they're rare movies that are difficult or impossible to get on DVD. The price of new releases and old releases are basically the same ($5), which makes this place fairly expensive for renting old movies. They only accept cash and still don't use a computer system. However, the staff are very knowledgeable and can usually be counted on to find a movie for you in the store if you're having trouble. My only big criticism is the staff can border on pretentious from time to time. I've often found when I ask them for suggestions and I explicitly outline the type of movie I'm looking for, they tend to recommend movies they think I "should" like and not what I'm actually asking for.

Sells resealed games as new…read more This is called a Y seal, and if it doesn't have it, it's been resealed and is not factory new. http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac47/rarebucky/GC%20Reseals/IMG_3614.jpg The following image are how the switch games are and they are "new" being sold for new prices, even though they are used. http://archive.pokedit.com/images/posts/genuine/fake_new_game_seal.jpg

Surprise, surprise, my review was deleted…read more I used to shop here all the time since I was in my teens and I found out recently they've been selling resealed games for a VERY long time. I've gotten into collecting sealed games, and the large majority of genuine sealed games are sealed using what is called a Y seal. https://i.imgur.com/I0OD318.jpg I've only really noticed collectors editions tend to not have this seal. (Think big boxes with odd shapes) He has these resealed games all over his shelf. If I am going to pay 80$ for a game that is supposed to be new, I'd like to actually receive a new game thanks... His worst offender is definitely a game called Lunar Silver Star Story it's supposedly sealed but has obviously been resealed, and the guy is selling it for 300$. That's pretty bad. He has MANY more like this all over his store. I used to love giving my money to this local gaming store, but after this, I'd give Walmart my money any day. At least they aren't tricking me. If you want to see what a factory sealed version of the game you want actually looks like go to any Walmart or BestBuy... Or for his resealed retrogames look them up on ebay and browse for a while, and ask on retro gaming subs.

You don't find too many Rogers Video locations anymore, but this is one of them. You can both rent…read moreand buy new and old movies, TV series, and video games, and you can also purchase cellphones and talk to a representative about your Rogers questions and issues on the other side of the store, which most people are in because hey, Rogers sucks - who DOESN'T have problems with them?! - But back to the video part - They have all the newest releases for rental against the wall, and even some older movies on the shelves in the isle. I've only walked around this area a few times because I usually get distracted by the TV shows and movies on sale at the front of the store. My boyfriend and I bought the "Life" TV series DVD by BBC, and the Harry Potter movie series for reasonable prices. I know, I know, nerd city. At least the lady at the front gave us a big smile and said she enjoyed them too, so we felt more like "big kids" than geeks. As a huge plus, you can also pay your Rogers bill here. It's a self-serve kind of machine, where you can look up your account with phone number and postal code, and you can pay with debit. You can also pay your balance in full or choose to pay another amount that you specify. Super convenient if you don't use online banking!

Their old release selection is hefty enough for me to have taken advantage of their 3 movies for $9 or 6 movies for $15 deals in the past. This was before I discovered the 6 movies for $10 deal at West Coast Video in Old Ottawa South, of course. They also have a very good selection of used and new movies and video games at the front of the store. Their new release wall is average compared to other chains like Blockbuster and Jumbo Video. I've always received great service from their laid back and knowledgeable staff. They also have a Rogers wireless store beside them.
