If it were at all possible I would not have given this company a one. They advertise than three quarters of their mortgages are completed within a week or two. Not so. We just completed our mortgage after more than 6 months! We worked with one of their people out of Palm Beach County (Florida) on the basis of a recommendation for a home we were purchasing in North Carolina. Our representative was both inept and untruthful. On more than one occasion she kept requesting documentation that was previously provided her. She used old data to compute an outrageous closing check to pay off existing debt even though such debt was paid off in its entirety monthly. This was a concept she either could not comprehend or chose to disregard. As we crept to a potential closing date, she got involved with the loan processor which lead to more details and an internal fight between the two of them. I am not a newbie to house purchasing ads this was my 11th home bought. However, this was, by far, the single worst mortgage company I've ever dealt with. Movement Mortgage should rename itself--No Movement. That would accurately describe them. read more

I started this process living in California, my family and I were interested in purchasing a home in North Carolina to be closer to our family. Having 3 children with 1 on the way, purchasing our first home. This was an unparalleled joy for my husband and I to embark on this journey. I was working with Jason Johnson a lender with the company, he was referred by the realtor we started the process with. He took our application and gave an exciting announcement as we were pre approved for a mortgage. There were some red flags in the beginning as he was not forth coming with information and the information he did provide did not always match up to what he later said. There were many conversations we had where he wouldn't remember previous conversations or he would contradict what he previously stated. When I would call him out on it he would apologize and then all of a sudden remember what he previously stated. During this process I submitted numerous amounts of paperwork which is expected in purchasing a home. We had put an offer in on a home and had a projected closing date of May 30th, we made a plan to terminate our lease in our apartment and drive across the country for our closing. For the closing fee I asked him should I take from my 401k when that's apart of the assets I have, he advised it would be no problem. So I did, when I did that it became a problem being the very issue I asked about from the beginning, my husbands money couldn't be sourced after providing numerous months of statements to show where the money came from and my parents gifted us part of the closing. Since my parents did this they Jason and his manager Marty advised for me to asked me to get my parents to gift the portion my husband and I try to give as their money was verified. So I did and when I did that my closing wasn't approved because my parents gave to much. Movement was heavily pushed to us by our Realtor, and I'm pretty happy we went with them. I'll start with my nags: Our Loan Processor was difficult to deal with, she didn't have great communication skills. I also wasn't impressed with their rate they were able to secure, as well as the application cost. I was comparing these guys with some other lenders from Costco who were able to get both lower rates and waive an application fee, so I'm kinda kicking myself a bit for not going with my gut. BUT. Being a first time homebuyer, things were definitely a bit confusing, but Simon Brais and his team did an excellent job orchestrating everything from Loan Applications down to the final CD. And I think that's kind of priceless. I don't know if other companies would've had the same kind of smoothness, but our overall service from Movement washed any frustrations I gained along the way. read more

If you are retired, self-employed, a minority, or need a quick answer avoid this company. They told me 100 points was subtracted from my credit score for being self employed even though my score was very good with no late payments. My husband was required to sign documents saying he allowed me to have access to the funds in our joint account - yes, that account that had the big OR between our names. My husband was very angry and felt this demand set the Woman's Movement back 60 years. Communication regarding status of the loan was extremely slow. What I was told by "team" members contradicted account information given on the app. It took 6 months to close. Two other friends who used the same Movement Mortgage office also experienced the same lengthy period until closing. They also remarked on poor communication. Our closing was delayed 3 different times. Our seller was going to back out. Often I could not get any response to text messages, emails or phone calls to this company . The attorney's staff became very frustrated from having to reach out multiple times to get responses to questions regarding paperwork. They remarked that they had never dealt with such a difficult lender. It was simply an awful experience. I have closed in excess of a dozen mortgages. This was by far the most difficult application process. Closing paperwork was 67 pages long. Avoid this lender at all costs if you dislike stress. On the positive side, the "team" members seemed like nice people. One employee , Whitney Thompson, genuinely tried to be helpful and get other staff members to return calls and emails, or personally did her best to get the requested information. read more

They worked hard to get us a mortgage pre approval, but when it came to do the closing, the underwriter suddenly decided my income source was not good enough, three days before, delayed the closing, and the buyer got pissed off and backed out, so we could not buy the home we had under contract, lost us our due diligance money, and moving deposit, cost us thousands! read more

I refinanced with Movement Mortgage back in September and it has been nothing short of horrible. The loan was transferred from Movement Mortgage Dovenmuhele to Movement Mortgage Service Mac. They misplaced my payment in transition and I have been dealing with debt collection and letters ever since. I have provided documentation numerous times including the cashed check. It is now January 2021 and they still have not straightened this out. I am about to seek a lawyer. Your company is horrible! read more

I was lucky enough to be introduced to Dan McNaught (and Movement Mortgage) by my Realtor and even at the end of a 6 month long, tedious short sale situation I can honestly say that Dan Mcnaught was the bright shining star through the darkness for me. When my personal life took an unexpected turn 8 days before closing that made me rethink my financing choice, Dan didn't flinch; he spun into action and got it accomplished with very little mess. When I called- Dan answered... every single time. When I texted- Dan responded... no matter what time. I'm not sure when he sleeps because he seemed to always be available when I needed reassurance. I'm not great with math. I was honest up front about it and warned Dan that I'd be asking a lot of questions and for him to please explain things to me slowly. He never once got frustrated with me or rushed me and he'd explain the same topic as many times as it took for me to understand it. They were very responsive and were always available to field a phone call for any question we had. It was a simple and quick closing on our refinance. I was a first time home buyer and my initial phone call was fantastic and very informative. After that it was extremely hard to get ahold of the lady taking care of the process. She would answer calls from my real estate agent but not me, and would rarely call me back. There was one point where she went on vacation, which we all need from time to time,and she gave my real estate agent a different person to talk to. Well I found a house that I loved and the person that was supposed to help (who ended up being the underwriter) was MIA. Since the market is so hot right now I lost the house I wanted. I finally found another house I wanted and things went a bit more smooth- until it came to processing my loan. They said the whole process would take about 7 business days... 32 days later the process was completed. I sent constant emails asking for an update or if I needed to provide additional information. 99% of the emails were unanswered by either one of the ladies. Day before closing came and my real estate agent had to call and get everything going for CD and tell them to send me wiring information. One lady sent the wiring information to me. I had time to go eat lunch, complete the wire and send an email letting them know the wire was complete before the other lady sent me the same wiring email. Overall: Communication is awful, employees go MIA. And emails don't get answered. When you have them on the phone they are very informative and helpful. read more
