Now that I've been to a few classes, I can say that even if I hadn't been staying close, I'd travel to get my training here! I was really impressed with the facility upon walking in. Honestly, years of driving down Old York Rd., I never noticed this place on the corner but looks are definitely deceiving from the outside. I was actually intimidated by how much space there was! I'm really glad there were water fountains too because I had forgotten my water bottle. Anyway, I was able to make it to mostly the midday gi classes that start at 11:30 and one evening nogi class and was glad to get instruction from different instructors, all black belts, and to spar with belts of all different levels. The academy where I train regularly in LA county is fairly young so we don't have too many higher level belts to train with so it was fun to continuously get challenged. I really enjoyed the focused skill training and the ample amount of time left in class to just roll. One thing that stuck out to me was that there was always room for everyone to start from standing instead of seated. Most academies I've been to start from sitting so I don't get much experience from standing, where all fights start from anyway so I was happy about that. All of this is to say that I will definitely be back!
