Used Movebuilder because it's the company my new job uses. Nothing went terribly wrong, but I found them a bit challenging to get information from them. There was supposed to be a "single point of contact", but for me that "single" point changed twice, and it was never clear exactly how I was supposed to get ahold of them unless they called me directly. I did have a moderate issue on arrival, in that the building I was moving into didn't allow overnight parking for the truck. The Movebuilder staff (particularly Angie) did a good job of addressing this by finding a "shuttle" service that would pick up our stuff in a smaller truck that didn't have to stay overnight, and it only delayed dropoff by one day. It did cost more, but it was within my company's allowance, so it wasn't a serious problem. But I would have appreciated more guidance by Movebuilder on how to address this, as they kept asking *me* to scout things out in a city I hadn't even moved to yet, instead of finding out from the local moving company. read more

I just made a full-sized move from MA to CA. A 4 bedroom house full of furniture....wife, 3 kids, etc. I chose MoveBuilder thanks in part to the terrific service pre-move from Sonny Mc-Kinney and later Katie Ford. The move was hectic but it got done and in the end we wound up with a smashed 55" TV (mainly because it was not boxed despite the fact we paid for a box ahead of time.) All-in-all, not a disaster as movebuilder quickly set up a claim and a week later said that we were "all set' and the ordeal would be settled shortly. A week or so later we received a check for 25% of the claim because MoveBuilder said that we had failed to claim the FIFTY FIVE INCH FRIGGIN TV as part of the move. Of course I forgot to claim what is only my favorite possession and most expensive single piece of furniture! And of course you ordered TWO (2) TV boxes for my ONE (1) flatscreen TV. These people are lying, duplicitous scumbags for whom hell would be too nice a vacation for. If you need further, gorier details, please feel free to contact me about these frauds. read more

I was looking for a moving company from Wyoming to the east coast. Unfortunately, PODS or any such company does not deliver to the wilds of Wyoming, so the MoveBuilder/ABF/U Pack It trailer pay by the foot was the closest I could get. I had plenty of help packing at the beginning, but no help at delivery, so I also reserved unloading and assembling help at delivery. My estimate was for 8' at $2500. The problems started when we quickly passed our 8' estimate, even though I requested an estimate for a 2 bedroom and we were only 1 bedroom. So, take whatever linear estimate they provide and double it, to be more on target. The next incident was the impossibility of erecting the temporary wall they provide. It was warped and almost impossible to lock in place. Then came the realization that the trailer was delivered in such a way that the doors would not close against the Wyoming winter. I called to have the trailer picked up or at least moved forward 2 feet so the doors could protect our belongings, but alas, that would be impossible, so our crap was exposed to the elements for 3 days. No big deal. All of these problems are manageable. Two weeks and 3000 miles later, the trailer cannot be delivered on the reserved day or the reserved time. It is delivered in the afternoon, after I am guaranteed it can be unloaded and retrieved same day. Not the case. Because the driver was not the one who could guarantee it would be picked up same day, it had to stay over night and be parked 60 feet away (add $500 due to being farther than 75' from door). Delivery guys could not undo the wall that we had to force in place. They had to dismantle it. I think the trailer was in a roll over accident cause ALL of my belongings had damage. I realize that if they had packed it (or a different company provided a full service move which I will do from now on) then the damage would be fully covered, but the amount of movement that my belongings suffered could not have been caused simply by settling. Unloading guys did their job. Or so I thought. One month later, my bed collapses. What is this??? My bed was assembled without the screws I provided? And where are the screws now? I call and request to speak with a customer service rep or a manager. Turns out they only have ONE customer service rep and he can't call me back until tomorrow. After I Yelp this, I think I am going to take it to the Better Business Bureau. All in all, a $2500 estimate ended up being more than DOUBLE! Next time, I will go with a different company, with a full service move, with an in home estimate that is firm; I know I would have saved money that way AND had less of a hassle. read more

I totally agree with above review. Please don't pick this one as your mover its a huge mistake! I end up pay 1000 more, from 2500 to 3500. They were not on time, not at loading, not at unloading. I needed to talk to several different people who apparently didn't have any clue about the type of contract, I had with the company and I had to explain the same storry more than 10 times. I had to get help from my friend to load and I was unloading with them myself, because they send 2 kids for loading and unloading. they broke my expensive dinning table, my drawer, and after 2 months I am still sending emails and calling them to get response on these items... any way, finding a good moving company is not easy, but don't do it with MOVEBUILDER, absolutely not! read more

DO NOT USE MOVE BUILDERS!!! The loading company stole from my family. I reported this to the police and as I am sure you are all well aware, they can do nothing about it. I reported this to Move Builder as possible theft on the loading end, and reserved making a report until we got to our destination. Much to my chagrin, Move Builders takes no responsibility for "their" contractors. Many of my possessions were damaged in freight, and the "insurance" is not worth the paper it's written on. Hello, I just completed a move yesterday with MoveBuilder and am now in the claims/hangover phase. Please think twice before going with a company who coordinates different pieces of moves and contracts with loaders, unloaders and packers on both ends. Although ABF does the freight and if you just need them for this service, you will probably be okay. I did have the concern of not having a full-service moving company from the beginning and not having the same company represented throughout the whole process (like Allied or Atlas). The original move coordinator I worked with was good as well as the loading crew. I did my own packing. A 5-bedroom home going 700 miles. Actually, the local loading crew was excellent. I never tipped a crew so much before. They saved me linear footage and my move is costing less than the estimate. The ABF driver delivered the original trailer on time, picked it up on time and delivered it to my new home on time. MoveBuilder checked in with me to make sure things were going well. Then all went to pieces with the unloading crew and with MoveBuilder on the receiving end of my items. The unloading crew calls and states they cannot find our home - Larry McKenzie's Moving and Delivery Service in Howell, Michigan. They want directions. We tell them we just moved here and do not know how to give them directions. Our GPS got us here and got the ABF trailer here. Larry said "Well, then I don't know how we're going to get your stuff unloaded". He left us hanging and he gave us the impression he wasn't going to show up. It was also raining outside. I called MoveBuilder, concerns dismissed. Told them I was concerned about his professionalism and what if I am not satisfied with how my items are being handled. MoveBuilder basically said I was overreacting and they only work with profressionals. Oh, and they have NEVER had a complaint about Larry McKenzie's rinky dink MOving and Delivery service before. Larry showed up with an attitude and told us he would not be moving boxes which are overweight. I told him the loaders didn't complain about any boxes so I don't think he should have a problem. He didn't put any protection on my near white carpeting which is all over the home, including two sets of stair cases. The carpets were just professionally cleaned before we moved in. He ignored my request to cover the stairs. We go out in the garage and it was chaos. We were not explained the process. We had everything labelled on the top of the boxes. Previous use of boxes had labeling on the sides. I crossed those out. Mover read off side of the box and I explained they need to read what is on the top. As I was explaining, Larry asks where does this "go?". It was a blue tote and I walked over to see if it was abelled. It was the 2nd or 3rd item off of the truck. He tossed it on the ground loudly and said "We only touch a box once". My husband told him he needs to tone it down. Larry through his arms up in the air and grabbed his phone and walked off. I called MoveBuilder, expressed my concerns. They did not care. I was crying, hyperventilating, taking Migraine pills. No one has EVER complained about Larry McKenzie's Moving and Delivery Service before. Well, at this time Larry also called MOveBuilder and compalined about US! Said we didn't know where our stuff went! First of all not true, second of all after he put the tote down and said he only touches a box once, I opened it. I never asked him to pick it up and move it anywhere else. So, basically MoveBuilder was calling me to SLAP MY hand! I am the problem. I asked them if they could have Larry cover my stairs, they are muddy now. MoveBuilder said my stairs are covered. Game on move builder. My video camera is out while I"m talking to them on the phone. Stairs not covered. But go ahead and believe Larry. So I asked MoveBuilder if Larry walks off the job or this doesn't go well what can we do about this. They said no one else would be able to come and unload my truck ... EVER. Apparently there are no other moving companies in the area at all. Apparently they think I'm dumb. An Allied Van is two doors down and Two Guys and a Moving Truck is around the block. Well and there are the yellow pages. Oh yeah, Detroit isn't that far away. I have this on video tape as well. They first said they don't know when they would be able to get someone out and I was amenable to that, I was willing to wait for a week or whatever, but then I was told this was my only opportunity to get the truck unloaded. Oh and if someone else had to come out, I would be charged for it. Guess what Larry told me about the carpet? Get some Resolve. They are just the "movers". Got that on video tape too. Claims department has been GREAT so far though, just not the 6 people I spoke to yesterday when I was distraught. read more

If I cold give 0 stars I would. MoveBuilder is not worth the hassle or the price you pay (in my opinion). The estimated our move to be $4000 from San Antonio to North Carolina and the end result was an unauthorized charge to our credit card of over $9500. The moving space originally quoted was 16ft of truck space and in reality it was over 30. The local movers they hired were awful! 2 guys of which only 1 worked... Broken furniture - Boxes falling out of the truck.. you name it! The estimation process feels like a bait and switch operation - Quote me a low price to get my business and rape me when I have no other option. read more

I recently used MoveBuilder and would strongly recommend against using their service. Many of my furniture pieces were damaged in the move to some degree. One set of shelves was destroyed. The only insurance that they made available to me was $0.30 per pound, so I chose not to deal with the trouble of trying to get any money back from them. The moving cube model did not work well for me and was a major hassle. They left the moving cubes at my moving destination over a period of 5 days after the initial drop off. I had to call multiple times for them to pick up the crates before they finally did (they kept postponing the pick up time). Customer service was horrible in my opinion. Wait times on the phone reached 15 minutes, and the representatives were generally not very helpful. read more

I wished I had read the move builder review before I used their service,I had a one bed room furniture moved from new York , i had Reviewed the abf company thinking that they would not contract with unrealible mover but what a surprise! Not only they stuck you with extra service charges and basically just dumped your furniture, ( almost all my furnitures were damaged more or less, may be that is why they do not bother to help with unwrapping or deposing boxes..) ,I am also shucked at their claime that I am supposed to disassembled all the particle board furniture when they are clearly solid wood and there is no way to take it apart! I would have to find a consultant to deal with them, I can not understand why they had no regard for customer if they wish to stay in business! I actually prefer to keep silence unless you have good thing to say but in this case May be someone will think twice about engaging their service! DO NOT USE Movebuilder or ANY of the other companies that associate with them. (Do your research, because they go by many different titles such as Albert Moving,MovingStaffers,etc). I had furniture delivered from my apartment in NYC to my brothers house in Atlanta and even though the furniture was wrapped with paper and plastic, they arrived completely destroyed since they did not pack them into the truck properly and because the truck was absolutely filthy! I put in a claim and was told all they would give me is 150 dollars for the damage when it is FAR and beyond that. They could care less that the items were delivered in the condition that they were. This place is a scam and I would NOT trust it. I would hate to tell you.. I told you so.. SO THINK twice before using them! read more

I would like to provide other potential customers with an account of my experience with Move Builder. They repeatedly lost track of what services were supposed to be provided. Their contractors that packed and loaded my belongings were a day late in arriving, delaying my cross country move to the point I had to take off 2 days from a new job. I received my items only to find that I was missing over $2500 worth of items, not including charges made to my accounts from my missing PS3. My claim was denied and I was advised to file a police report or go to arbitration. read more

Horrible experience, could never recommend, nor would I ever use again. They deliberately under estimate your size of move and then proceed to up charge you for taking more space than they previously under estimated. Their customer service department must have special training on professional lying because they are so good at it. Team them up with ABF and you will have a tag team move from Hell! My move was a simple move across the country. We added 20 medium size packing boxes to the original estimate and deleted several items as well. My bill was over $3,000.00 more than the estimate, the shipment was nearly a week late from their promised date, and several furniture items were severely damaged. They promised financial compensation for damages and hotel and meal costs. Never happened. We had to fight to even get an invoice 4 months after the move. They will charge your credit card with the fabricated invoice before delivery and you will have no idea how badly you are being cheated. Adding insult to injury is their specialty. They called to alert me that they would be delivering twice while our containers were still in transit three states away on a train. The day they finally did deliver, they didn't call until their arrival. Customer service does not return calls, they lie and cheat you at every opportunity. Avoid this company. read more
