After over 25 years with this bank, I am closing my accounts and leaving. The reason is that the…read morepast two times I have gone to cash checks, I have been accused of committing check fraud, communicated to me by screaming at me so loud that parties in the parking lot actually heard and checked if I was okay. I felt alarmed my personal banking information was also communicated through shouting to the point of other customers stepping in and telling the staff that this is my private information. I came in with a large scholarship check issued by Bank of America and was called a "fraud." The employees told me that they would watch me walk across the street to cash it at Bank of America and return with cash to prove I am not a "fraud." I reiterated that I do not feel safe walking across the street with a large amount of money in my pocket after they have been screaming my financial details loudly and everyone around knows I would be walking with a large sum of cash. I told them please give me my check back and immediately close my accounts and rather than giving it back to me they simply deposited it right then. I reported to managers and they assured me they would follow up with employees; I regret giving them another chance after this. A few weeks later a number of fraudulent charges appeared on my paypal account and I went in to report the activity. The manager wrote a bizzare document and asked me to sign it stating that I reported that I had consented to these charges but no longer wanted these subscriptions so I was acknowledging responsibility for them. I reiterated that I did not consent to these charges and this statement was not accurate. The manager stated that since i reported this to paypal and they did not refund my money that I am giving them the equivalent of a "legal notice" that proves I am responsible for these charges. Again voices were raised at me and I was called a "fraud." I reported to a senior manager and went to Weymouth branch and insisted upon a fair investigation. They conducted the investigation and confirmed that I was indeed the victim and not perpetrator of fraud. What concerns me is that not only is this bizarre and unprofessional but also creates a lot of risk for the bank and it's members. I have told the staff every time they have accused me of "fraud" to please follow their official fraud reporting procedures if they think so, and they decline to follow formal steps but rather continue yelling and causing chaos. If you are looking for a bank that supports you getting robbed in the Westgate Mall parking lot, having your identity stolen, and enduring out of state online scammers debiting your account, look no further. If this is not what you want, go elsewhere. Terminating this 25 year relationship.

And I opened the account simply for convenience as the branches are spaced across the South Shore where I frequent. The best thing I have experienced here is the customer service. Friendly, professional people help you out with whatever services you may need. No one turns their head, pretending to not see you! This makes it easy to get in & get out, particularly during the pandemic. At my local branch, the interior is still locked with the lobby ATM open. Twice now, while paused in what I was doing, bank personnel have opened the door to see if I needed assistance (i did). Just opened the door without me banging on it! Like - I was a customer who needed help! The ATM gives $10 bills, the employees are helpful & courteous and they give a decent rate of interest. My short wish list is checked off at CHB!

The 800 customer service number -- nope....no way to report through that number. For a bank, they're fine -- I really like the Sunday hours and number of locations is fine for a South Shore resident. Just don't expect much for your online banking experience. They're getting there...slowly. No 24X7 tech support means they can never be world class. My other online bank allows me 'pay' other people whereas Rockland trust will allow you to only pay other Rockland trust customers. Their new user interface rolled out a few months ago is still on 100% intuitive but again, it's better than what they had. So, use two accounts...one for 'local' use..and one for real world use. I've used VirtualBank (now Sabadell N.A.) for 13 years -- never once had an outage like this.

In general I've been treated very discourteously by their mortgage dept. and their on line banking dept. The straw that broke the camels back was just recently when they tried to take an "overdraft" penalty payment over a weekend seeing that it might happen on a Monday while not allowing an auto deposit that would have covered it. When these people were Brockton Credit Union they were they were customer oriented and helpful. Now that they've grown in to a full blown bank all of that has gone out the window and I'm done with them.

You can't add your card to your apple wallet, you can scan a check into the app. It's all so outdated. My account went overdrawn while working to change things over to a new bank and they charge you for the fees...makes sense. One day I checked and they charged me 6 times at once. So I call and I tell the very rude lady on the phone that I'm taking care of it and I have already switched the bill to my new account. I'm not sure why they keep trying to take it out of this account but in the meantime could you help me stop these fees from coming out. She said no as quick and rude as possible. I don't get charged the crazy fees like sssb. Someone must have gotten my card number and booked a room at the Tropicana Inn, I hadn't noticed the charge yet but the cfcu was all over it. They froze my card, reversed the transaction and issued me a new card all before breakfast. I've never had such great customer service and felt so protected by a bank. Great place!

My Rockland Trust debit card information was stolen and used by someone in another state to make a…read morepurchase of nearly $1,000.00 I was sent a text message from Rockland Trust on that day asking me if I made this purchase, to which I replied "NO", and the card was subsequently frozen and my account was given a provisional credit for that $1,000.00 fraudulent purchase. Fast forward 3 months later, and the provisional credit I had been given was then RESCINDED by Rockland Trust, and I was told they had been given "proof" by the merchant where the fraudulent transaction occurred that it was not fraudulent, despite the fact that the bank itself CONTACTED me that day when the purchase was made as they suspected it to be fraudulent. Now Rockland Trust is telling me there is "nothing more we can do", despite having already being able to provide me a credit for the fraudulent purchase that they TOLD me about the moment it happened. I will very likely be taking my business elsewhere entirely and never banking here again because of this complete failure, on Rockland Trust's part, to protect me and my financial security despite every indication and piece of evidence they had to do so.
