My mother was admitted to Post Acute Ukiah for rehabilitation after suffering a fall at her…read moreapartment. During the approximately six months she stayed there, she experienced three separate falls while under their care. After the second fall, she suffered significant bruising across the left side of her face that lasted for weeks, and our family was deeply concerned about the seriousness of her injuries. Following her third fall, her condition declined rapidly, and she passed away three days later. Our family is devastated and heartbroken by what happened. We entrusted this facility with her care and safety during a vulnerable time in her life. We believe there were serious concerns regarding fall prevention, supervision, and communication with our family throughout her stay. I am sharing our experience because families deserve to ask questions, stay involved, and carefully monitor the care their loved ones receive in rehabilitation and nursing facilities. I hope the facility takes concerns like these seriously and thoroughly reviews its policies and procedures to help prevent other families from experiencing a similar tragedy. To the staff and administration: I urge you to examine what happened during my mother's care and make resident safety your highest priority. I write this as my personal experience and opinion based on what my family witnessed.

After the surgery, his assistant put dressings on the wounds so sloppy that I had to return in several days to have my toes anesthesized so he could remove the bandages. He prescribed some meds for me that he shouldn't have, because of conflicts with other meds I take. He wasn't paying attention. One of the toenails grew back as an ingrown toenail, and another one grew back and the fungus returned. My impression was that his business came first, and his patients second. First the backstory: I have lived with chronic pain my entire life, literally from the day I was born. I have a congenital birth defect that was not diagnosed until I was 55 years old. Rather than making my pain better, the surgery they did to remove the mass they discovered in my pre-sacral body cavity turned out to dramatically increase it. During this time period, I was treated by the pain clinic at Stanford Hospital. They were excellent, and I felt Based on my experience that they deserved their reputation as one of the best pain clinics in the country. Still, my pain worsened Along with my PTSD and I ended up having to move from the congested mid-Peninsula Town of Palo Alto to Ukiah. I was referred to Dr Young and after literally Decades of seeing pain doctors either did not understand, did not deeply listen, or did not have their focus on me. Dr Young has helped me get off of methadone-It has been 3 years now. He has worked with me to find the most effective medication for procedure for me that has the lowest side effect and risk profile. He is always willing to offer me new ideas and possible solutions to my predicament. Perhaps the greatest thing he has given me is Hope. At one point I had an accidental overdose. When I woke up in the emergency room the first face I saw was Dr Young at my bedside. He reached over and gave me a deep long hug. Not the kind of thing a doctor does. I start to cry when I think about it now. He stayed within healthy doctor/patient boundaries yet managed to give me a level of support I did not receive from anyone in my family.
