Warren Health & Racquet Club - Medieval torture device ... I mean exercise machine

    Warren Health & Racquet Club

I use only the fitness part of the club - no tennis or racquetball. It is appalling. The…read moreabductor/adductor machine has been broken for months. On most of the machines, the weight labels have worn off, so you don't know how much weight you're using. The women's locker room is also appalling. NONE of the toilet stalls can be latched. NONE! As for the hot tub and sauna, I've been a member for over 20 years and I've never seen them operational. I'm still using this gym because it's so close to home that I don't have any excuse for not going!

Warren Health & Racquet has been around for ages. And most of it looks that way…read more As you approach the entrance, there is a stained glass window that has a tennis player on it...with a 70s haircut and knee high white socks. The interior keeps with this theme. The best feature of the club is the indoor tennis facilities, which are kept up very nicely. If it wasn't for the excellent condition of the tennis courts, I'd rate it 2 stars. There is a pro shop, where you can get racquets restrung, buy balls, racquets, clothing, shoes, etc. The gym... is ancient. Some of the workout machines are so old they look like medieval torture devices. I kid you not. This place is also popular because they have several racquetball courts. Unfortunately, several of the courts are open at the rear wall or the upper sides. It can be frustrating when your game is interrupted by your ball leaving the court and bouncing into the gym or a neighboring court. They are one of the only places around that allow you to pay-to-play, rather than have a membership, so I still use the place often. The locker room reminds me of a 1960s high school. I won't shower here, and the thought of using the hot tub is laughable. The staff has always been helpful, and very nice. This could be an excellent place if they invested in modernizing.

This place is ridiculous, the AC hasn't worked all summer. Have you ever tried to work out indoors…read moreon a 97 degree day?! Torture ESPECIALLY in a Tuesday night spin class because Athena is EFFICIENT! Only for her work to be rewarded with pure laziness and undesirable conditions, every time we come in, another bike is out of commission. The speakers in the cycle room don't work! Working out in SILENCE is one of THE MOST uncomfortable things to do! Especially at a monthly rate!!!!!!!! Going to the gym is already annoying but under these conditions, it's harder and harder to lose the weight because its like I'm fighting myself from going to the gym. Not because of fitness but because of TORTURE! Temperature torture, uncleanliness torture, equipment torture, slipping & tripping TORTURE. There's never any wet wipes! In a post Covid society, that's unacceptable , it should be a crime. Especially in a place people are always IN. Then come to find out, they're trying to get rid of the paper towels too! Which we're already moistening by pumping the hand sanitizer onto.... Can you say "GHETTO ?!" Ghetto in PISCATAWAY?! C'mon, HOW?! Absolutely unacceptable. There were holes in the gym ceiling for months to the point night volleyball games were beyond hazardous . Liabilities to say the least! A slip in there at volleyball playing speed can take you out of work for MONTHS. The sauna works on & off in spurts... really just depends on the day. They need more people teaching more classes all day! Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday's don't have enough to choose from. I joined this gym for cycle classes, aquafit & volleyball Not only do they not offer enough of them , aquafit is once a week very early, & I already mentioned why volleyball and cycle were a bust! (For the record also, Juliet is a fantastic instructor as well) Going to the other location is NOT conducive for me because I live down the street! Why should I be inconvenienced by somewhere I PAY TO BE?! Please! Help us! We've had enough at this point, it's truly a negligent situation we're facing & again, for a monthly Fee, doing something most truly don't want to participate in anyway.... The GYM!

Had an incredibly terrible experience at the LA Fitness on Oak Tree Rd in South Plainfield, I came…read morewith my sister who uses a GymPass to come here, I was doing the 3-day free guest pass as offered on LA's website, I came on day one and they took my ID and didn't explain anything about the guest pass or give a tour or literally anything for that matter. Day 2 I go in to use the guest pass again and I scanned in my guest pass just as I did yesterday, and signed the form they wanted me to, I was taken behind the counter to the membership desk with employee, Zayd, and was told since I already used the guest pass yesterday under my sisters I couldn't today, she doesn't have a direct LA Fitness pass and doesn't even have guest abilities. I let the guy know I came yesterday and had never come prior to this gym. I was told I couldn't use it today or again for that matter. I asked to speak to the GM, his name is Amari, and he flat out said that I either needed to pay the $20 for the day pass or leave. I asked to see the guest pass policy that states that I couldn't use it for all three days and even showed my email from LA showing that. I then left the gym feeling frustrated, I called the corporate number that LA lists and after explaining our situation he got in contact with Amari from the location, who then decided to issue the 3-day guest pass to me so problem solved. In all, it should've been explained to me why that happened and why I couldn't use it, I was very much considering using this gym as it is much closer to my home and offers different benefits from the one I currently go to. But now, since being treated unfairly I do not feel as though it is worth it to go here to have employees who simply do not care or give any decency to people wanting to come here.
