Los Altos History Museum - The interactive town map in the Permanent Exhibition

I would highly recommend booking this museum in Los Altos for your wedding or any event, really…read more The venue is absolutely stunning for an outdoor wedding and has an indoor section too. We really wanted a cozy intimate backyard wedding vibe and that's exactly what we got here! Huge plus is my husband loves history, and you get free access to the museum for a year with a ton of other benefits once you have an event here + your donation is tax deductible. You also don't need much decor at all due to the natural beauty but we hired a decorator for the arches, stages, and table settings. Lisa will also give you a list of vendors partners you can work with just in case. Overall, she was really amazing to work with and super responsive because anytime we needed to do a tour walk through with vendors or a tour of the venue, she was there. Thanks Lisa for answering all my questions!! You can't go wrong having your wedding here. We had a spring wedding of close to ~200 folks and thank God it didn't rain but summer or even fall would be beautiful here. For photoshoot opportunities there's a ton onsite and a beautiful orchard just steps away from the museum for sunset shots. A magical day indeed.

Upstairs, there's a permanent exhibit on the history of this city, which has about 40,000 people, but still feels like a town. Overall, it's a great little museum (with free (!) admission) and about 20-30 minutes is plenty of time to explore and get an idea of the exhibits and the staff are friendly and helpful to give an overview. There's also a little gift shop by the front desk with cute trinkets and toys, as well as books and other souvenirs. You can even rent this museum for a private event such as a party or a wedding!

Hillview Community Center, and Hillview Park (both listed at the same address 97 Hillview Avenue)…read moreoffers many recreational and community programs for Los Altans, mainly kids and youth. These include music and dancing courses, art classes, fitness, and cooking. The Los Altos senior program is also hosted here. I walk these grounds almost every day. If your thing is walking, it's close to downtown, you just have to cross the San Antonio Rd. Best way is to cross at the intersection where Enchanté Boutique Hotel now stands. Or you can park by the library, and walk around to see it all. I have reviews for many of the individual listings described below. This complex is an 8.3 acre site, which consists of the following facilities surrounding the Los Altos library: - The administrative offices of the Recreation & Community Services Department - Little League baseball diamond - The "Whistlestop" children's playground near it - The parcourse exercise equipment - A soccer field that is, essentially, the Hillview Park (please see a separate review) - Los Altos History Museum - Gilbert Smith History House - Bus Barn Theater, or Los Altos Stage Company There are multiple facilities that are available for rentals, like celebrations, social gatherings, and kids birthdays: two bocce ball courts, a multi-purpose room with kitchen, and several classrooms and meeting rooms. These are mostly older facilities, and at the same time, they exude a certain old country charm and are full of history.

Currently closed for renovations…read more I've been attending a keep fit class here for a few weeks and would say that the building is tired, old and in need of some love. It's like they read my mind, because it's currently closed so that they can renovate the place!! I'm excited to see how these will improve the site and its facilities for the local community, and hope to update my review to a more positive one once the work is complete

It is starting to be over the top. 20 minutes to get from one side of town to the other, let alone these annoying driverless cars merging into traffic and weaving in and out..that is scary, hello! CITY OF MT VIEW YOU ARE BUILDING WAY TO MUCH. I am capitilizing this in case you cannot read or see. We do not have the infastructure..way too many people, not enough land. You need to follow the suit of towns like Los Altos and Menlo Park and S Bay like Los Gatos. You are making this over the top. You really need to listen up. Are you building so much to pay the exorbitant city salaries of your employees? There is not enough infastructure here to support what you are trying to do, wake up call.

I'm assuming it's usually not super bad, but we went on Valentine's Day, so that made things a tad more difficult. There's a wide variety of eateries (just know that some of them close for a lunch break) and boba places and sweets places which is nice, as well as a local mom and pop owned market, a book store, gift shops, and the pop up for local independent artists. It's pretty lively on weekends with lots of people walking around, students busking, families hanging out, there's a ping pong table, and it's nice that they close down part of the middle roadway so pedestrians can walk easier and much more willy nilly, as well as opportunities for al fresca dining. Food options that I saw were Japanese, Thai, Korean, Chinese (from many regions), Indian, Mexican, American, Mediterranean, and much more. They got a sizeable Ume Tea here as well and if it weren't so busy, I'd stop by either of the 2 patisseries they had. Also, random, but I liked how they used that one storefront just to highlight what looks like a child's research project on penguins. Super cute!

If you write him on a Monday he won't respond until Friday and vaguely at that. He was so hard to contact. He made the preparation process very difficult and added more stress. When we had a one on one in person, this man showed no interest while presenting the hall. He seemed like he had better things to do. No politeness, no smiling whatsoever, no kindness. Rushed us through the layout options, we emailed him two weeks before the wedding the finalized layout and he didn't respond until the night before the wedding. After telling us he would work with us due to the time he still didn't have the right set up on the day of. My husband fixed it the day of. Terrible customer service on his part. We had a slideshow, requested his assistance and never returned with the wire for the slideshow to play on the projector. You shouldn't be working for a community center if you're not helpful to your community. Rude. Disgustingly distasteful with your communication. The space itself earned the two stars, that guy Matthew ruined my wedding prep. Super annoying. I wouldn't treat people that way.
