Despite the apartments being very beautiful and modern; the lack of competent management really ruins the complex. I am a student, and when I first spoke to Megan about leasing I asked about the special program where you can get a discount rent if you fall below a certain income threshold, she said that I can qualify. I explained that my financial loan papers are not reflective of the loan amount I will have for the upcoming school year that I will use to pay the lease, she said it was fine and that I can apply with what I had and she will change it later. It seemed like she assumed that since I was asking about a lower lease I would have poor credit and not be approved and that they would get my application fee anyway. Of course when that time came she said that there was no way she can change it. My next issue with Megan was when I moved in I was very clear that I wanted a 2nd floor or higher apt since I would feel safer and she assured me that she would arrange that. I planned my flight, paid movers, had the washer/dryer installed all based on her doing her job correctly. The building was on a hill, so from the front it was second floor however the back was ground level which defeats the purpose; she claimed she forgot and it slipped her mind; but I am fairly confident she also lived in that same building, so not sure how that happened. I was offered to be on a waitlist for the next available apt and was told by the other equally ill suited manager that there is nothing she can do and despite this being their mistake I they would not reimburse me for fees of having to re install washer/dryer and repay movers.
Right under my bedroom window there were HVAC units, one of them clearly was broken because it made a loud whistling noise the whole time it was on and made different noises than the other ones. I had to send in probably 3 maintenance requests since it was going on all night. Megan sent me an email to let me "know that HVAC units make noise" and that the maintenance people have said it only happens when the person above me turns their AC on. I thought this was interesting since it was end of November and in the 10-20's outside. Due to COVID I went home to do school in March but still paid the lease; then I ended up having to terminate the lease early. I communicated this to Megan who said she would market my apt and I would have to pay the lease until someone moved in and she would let me know when they do. Well I had to of course follow up with her when I noticed that on the website it changed from having availability to being full. I emailed her about this and she told me someone had moved in the prior week. I am confused why she didn't tell me, was she trying to get me to keep paying rent and get rent from the new tenant. On the day I moved out, based on my experience with her, I request I be there when the maintenance man did the final inspection; she said it would be fine and I can call the office when I needed it done. I called about 1hr before I needed it done since I had a flight to catch and wanted to make sure it was done; I was told that the maintenance person is busy all day and cannot do it until after 3; I said Megan told me to call whenever I needed it and the other manager rudely told me she wasn't Megan and didn't tell me that; I said I planned my day around this and have a flight, so after back and forth they eventually came and I made my flight. My lease started end of August and was for 1yr; like I said I went home mid March until June, and was gone for the month of December; I spent a total of ~6month in that apartment and almost all my time was spend studying at my dining table. Megan claims that there were stains in the bedroom that I needed to pay for, however there were no such stains; during the final inspection the maintenance man told me that there were no charges and everything was fine. I do not understand where Megan got these stains from but I just wanted to be done with her terrible management and didn't even argue it. She said she did me a favor by not charging me a early termination fee and other fees however, the lease does not lay out any of these fees it only says that early termination was subject to the management's discretion; so not sure if she even could have charged me all those fees anyway. Overall the apartments are nice but not worth having to do the manager's job for her since she is too incompetent; I totally understand that mistakes are made and we are human but holy moly she makes nothing but mistakes. read more
