To preface, I was never late on rent. Never had a complaint against me. I made a few complaints about neighbors and on my social media about Ansley since there was excessive noise in the halls, doors slammed all the time, an insanely loud Mustang with open exhaust at 7am daily, and dog poop in the dog park every day. When I complained about the dog poop, they said they don't do anything about it and had been out of the DNA test kits! Dog park turf is never cleaned and is DISGUSTING. Make sure you don't give constructive feedback to management, even if they ask for it, because they will retaliate and issue you a non-renewal on your lease. CRAZY since they had issued me a renewal already, but I went back and forth with them since they were increasing my rent. Meanwhile, they had the apt across from mine listed for hundreds less online. Where is the integrity in that?? Once I complained, they issued me a non-renewal and it was 45 days before my lease expired. To cover themselves legally, they offered to extend my lease to give me 60 days to vacate. After I complained and gave feedback, they will used my suggestions and scheduled events like pup-cup day, community game night, and improved landscaping which was horrible at best. They told me they didn't have a budget for events - but seem to be having more events once I brought my complaints to the Fogelman corporate office. But Fogelman loves the property manager here bc she always hurries to clean up the community before their visits. They have no problem increasing your rent every year even if you're paying hundreds more than your neighbor. They will lie and tell you your rent increase is not negotiable, but it is and I know this bc hellooooo neighbors talk!! Also interesting that a leasing consultant left right after me for a MUCH better community and two maintenance employees are leaving soon. Additionally, the gym equipment is out of date, carpet always dirty, kids play around in there, and wifi never works. A former leasing consultant was also a personal trainer and had a separate gym membership, if that tells you anything. "Pet spa" is a washbasin in the car wash area with no towels supplied and it and the car wash are closed half the year anyways. Honestly the ONLY allure of Ansley is their cheap rent, which is justified bc their amenities, management, and property need a complete overhaul. Save your time and go to one of the many many other newer properties in Asheville/Arden!! Also, most of the reviews are incentivized. After people move in, Ansley asks for reviews and gives people points and gift cards for responding. I'm sure mgmt will respond to this with a generic response defending themselves, but why would they kick me out and then utilize my feedback to better the community if what I was saying isn't true? Oh and if they offer to sit down and talk to you to discuss an issue...DON'T BOTHER. I did exactly that and the property manager was fake, smug and lied in the meeting straight to my face. read more

Ansley is a great apartment complex! It is in a great location, just off the parkway in South Asheville. We were in a crunch to move quickly during the holidays, and I was looking for something available. Thankfully, Ansley had everything we needed (including a garage) for a quick move-in. There were no crazy fees, no jumping through hoops, and it was quick and easy to have a nice place. The amenities are great, too, including the pool and playground for littles. Extremely dog friendly, which was very important to us. Our view is beautiful. The office staff is great, and the maintenance team is beyond amazing. read more

I recently moved across the country, from Los Angeles, CA to Asheville, NC. I needed a place to live. Top priorities were: pet-friendliness, accessibility of Asheville's many amenities, and a certain level of accommodation. I'm delighted to be able to say Ansley at Roberts Lake delivers all of those in spades. The buildings are beautiful. There's a grill and fountains by the pool. There's a gym, masseuse, even a play gym for children. There's a sidewalk between the buildings, and a short walking trail around a pond with benches. There's a car care center and clothing care center. The whole facility is surrounded by trees, but Biltmore Town Square is only a mile and a half away. The experience is as quiet and peaceful as you want, without feeling like you're at all removed from events and activities in Asheville. I've had occasion to speak at some length with both Persis and Hannah in the office. Both reflect the South's fabled hospitality as well as all the professionalism you could want from apartment managers. If you are coming to Asheville, have pets, and are looking for a nice place to live with a strong sense of community, quiet but not rural, fun but not forced, and within easy driving distance of everything, I highly recommend Ansley at Roberts Lake. read more

So my family and I moved into The Ansley Apartments about a year and a half ago and lived there for 15 months. We were beyond stoked to move into a brand new apartment thats never been lived in and that looked so nice... but a month into we were ready to move out. I seriously wish that there were reviews that told you the straight up truth. So here is our experience: - staff: Super helpful when we were moving in... and then once you sign the lease they are just ... well lets just say unhelpful and rude. When we were moving out, I've never been treated more rudely than i was with the "assistant manager". I asked if I could use her name when I write this review and she never replied. So I took that as a no. Though the maintance people were super friendly. We liked them a lot. - parking: This was an issue from the time we moved in. It was beyond sucky to have to park at one end and have to walk to our apartment with bags and a toddler in hand. Finally they figured out a system that seems to be working so the problem dissolved except they have really strict rules. - apartments: I honestly LOVED the look of them. I did keep finding random nails and other bits all over the house from Im guessing when they were building it. Then a neighborhood kid broke our window one morning and we lived on the third floor. Even though it was brand new apartments our water heater needed maintenance twice, AC didn't work for a few days in the summer (they had to rip up the carpet to fix it), the master bedroom ceiling fan didn't work either, the outlets in the bathrooms would stop working. I mean seriously felt like our apartment was cursed. Also they are listed as 'luxury' apartments because there is literally one coat of paint on the wall and carpet is so cheap that literally my vaccum (which is a cheapish brand-Eureka) would pull little clumps of carpet up (which when it came time to move out we had to pay for the carpet because of the few stains which our child and my parents dog we would dog sit from time to time sit. But they were super rude and didn't even give me a chance to explain anything. I feel like people should understand that when you are trying to potty train a toddler there will be accidents and they spill things. I feel like that should be a given to a place that rents to families! But its whatever. We paid it and want nothing to do with them.) so really examine the apartments with open eyes. - pool: I swam at most three times in that pool. Water is always freezing. And on weekends its packed. We avoided going there on weekends. But we did hang out there week nights playing ping pong and just sitting around. Do not be fooled by the outside fire place because it didn't work since we moved in and they never cared to fix it. And they have grilling things but not enough for as many people living there. They are constantly being used. - gym: I enjoyed the gym. It was nice having one close to home. Though I did have my key card stolen from there (which honestly I think the office personnel took it and never gave it back and so I got charged $50 for it. Lovely.) - gate: SUPER annoying and a waste of time. Takes forever to open and you wait in line for whoever is calling someone to open it... plus it doesn't keep anyone out. They just wait for one person to go through so they can go right after them since like 4 cars can go through easy at once. - trash: The most annoying part for me. Sounded like a great idea but when it came down to it, it was a hassle. It needed to be outside by a certain hour, and only two bags tops with your garbage can (which means you don't have one in the house for hours... which is no good when it comes to life with a toddler. Also you get in trouble for putting it out too early but what can I do if my kids diapers have stunk up the house? Drop everything Im doing and carry the bag and my kid to the trash compactor? - extra info: A few months into living at the apartments, my husband and I heard a rumor about a 12 step program in our apartments. We asked the office personnel and they legit said no thats not true... That was a lie. And when I addressed this to the lady she said they don't have to disclose any info about that. This is literally the nicest apartment complex ever! I have been living here since March 2016. The staff is so friendly! The amenities are amazing. Pool, cabana, grills, club house, gym, laundry facilities, and car wash... and there's still more! All of the residents are also so friendly and I truly feel safe. I moved to the Asheville area in May of 2018 and I am so happy I chose Ansley At Roberts Lake! Checked out several other complexes and in my opinion, nothing compares. The pool, fitness center, car washing station, garbage pickup, and other amenities are next to none. The only negative thing I can think of is the parking. The lot can fill up in the evening hours and I have to park a few buildings over from my apartment. However, it's definitely not a major issue. I would recommend to anyone moving to the area! Private, relaxing, and a great place to call home. read more

Don't move here if you anticipate having company stay the night. There are very few visitor parking spots and a lot of residents take them because they are only allowed one car per name on the lease. If a visitor parks anywhere other than visitor parking they get towed. $225 recovery fee. read more

This is the worst place to live. I have lived here since October 2017 and have nothing but problems with management. They move me into the wrong apartment, with huge mold stains in the bathtub. They did agree to move me into another apartment quickly. The next apartment was the correct building, but had not been cleaned. The carpet was filthy and it smelled like smoke (none of the buildings are smoke free, you can try and enjoy your balcony with someone smoking on their balcony below you). I had a set move in date for the second apartment, but they wanted me to move sooner on the same day they called. I declined because I had to work and could not get the moving company I hired to come sooner. Ansley's response was not kind. In May I had a package delivered to the office, this was a dress I purchased from Nordstrom and had altered for my daughter's wedding. According to my tracking number it had been delivered, Hannah and Persus denied having the package in the office three times. It had been sitting there for a week. I had to get the postmaster for Arden to satellite track it before they would give it to me. I had them on speaker phone at the post office trying to deny very rudely in front of the postmaster. When we were at my daughter's wedding Ansley decided to have our car towed out of the parking space assigned to our apartment building even with the parking permit intact on the window as instructed by management. We were at no time notified of this, until we got home and could not find our car. I called the management office, and they would not help. They denied knowing our car had been towed. The towing company claims they sent 3 emails to management, but we were not notified. Ansley takes you car information down when you lease like make/model license plate number, but still got towed. We were also told we would not have to pay for it if permit was in the window. We did have to pay. Our car was damaged in the towing process and we have an insurance claim on it now. They also do not give proper notice when wanting to enter your apartment (less than 24 hours) and expect you pet be crated when they do. The ammenities are constantly broken or out of order like the pool. I would never rent from here if I would of known. I chose this place because I am a nurse at Mission and it is easy to get to work and for the schools nearby for my daughter, until we could find a house to purchase. Would never rent from here again or recommend to anyone. read more

We have lived here for two years, and we didn't have to many problems - other than the parking situation which is horrible. If you like your car, you may want to spring for the extra $150.00 a month for the garage, if not - you will have LOTS of door dings and dents on your car. The one office person that was absolutely the worst is gone - so that is a bonus! However, yesterday I received a $200.00 fine for dog waste - you have to DNA your dog to live here. I ALWAYS pick up after my dog, however he is 14.5 and maybe something "fell out" when we were walking and I didn't notice or it was dark and I didn't get everything. (They also only mow every Tuesday - and the grass gets pretty long - which makes it hard to see in the dark) I was sent a very rude letter and met with an even nastier response on the phone - by Savannah. Again, I have lived here over two years and have never had that happen - don't you think if I was lazy I would have done it before. Not only that, but there are people wondering around this complex at all hours of the night so unless you have a lock on that dog pot - how do I know someone didn't throw poop out?? (The container is right near where they said I didn't pick up after my dog.) I have personally witnessed a half naked drunk man wondering the complex at 4 AM - along with some men who were in the pool at 4AM. I emailed the office and was just given a "Thanks". Have no idea if anything was done about it. So, if you are a person who follows the rules and does what you are supposed to but then has something like what happened to me happen - with zero warning or concession made - then DON'T MOVE here, you will be fined. For amount of rent we pay here we could be in a nicer complex with more upgraded finishes. No stainless steel or granite counter tops here and you can hear everything! I can hear the neighbor downstairs and the ones next to us - who fight - a lot! Biggest mistake I ever made was moving into this complex! read more

These are the best apartments I've ever lived in, hands down. They're newer, only about two years old so everything is in perfect condition inside the apartment with modern features and design. But the staff have worked really hard to make the apartments feel like a welcoming community and home, not just a place to sleep. They routinely have something going on by the pool such as a fun food truck, are holding drawings and contests with great prizes. The amenities offered are unique, I mean who else lets you rent kayaks for free? And their grills by the pool are great with lots of seating areas. They want you to use them, so they've never said how many people you are or aren't allowed to bring. Who wants to have a cook out with one other person? Anyway, I feel really lucky to have found my home here and I always recommend Ansley to anyone searching for a new apartment. read more

The newness has quickly worn off. While the Ansley may respond and seem transparent in their Facebook reviews, they do not offer the same standards to resident's concerns. The Ansley shows great and may look well on an initial visit, but is far from the luxury standards that they attempt to market. Parking is a HUGE issue! If you work late nights or simply leave the residence anytime after 6pm, there will be absolutely no parking available upon your return. Some residents have taken matters into their own hands (due to the lack of concern from management) and have parked along curbs, in front of garages, and even behind other cars. This has caused a greater issue however, because it blocks others from leaving. They have started issuing parking sticker permits that were supposed to be enforced with a 24/7 towing company - there has been no change to our parking situation to this date. There has also been a recent announcement from the Ansley that each pet owner will have to get their dog's DNA tested. They tell residents that it is only to help keep the area "green and clean" in reference to pet waste, but this is not the case. The new Fogelman Management Group that has recently taken over, requires this as part of their pet insurance coverage. Because certain breeds are restricted, this is way to ensure each pet is compliant and not on the restricted breed list. Hopefully this will not force additional pet fees to those affected. Some solutions that may help: Stop spending so much money on landscaping - the trees are fine where they are; and start using your extra money for a parking system. Designate each lease holding resident a parking number to equate to a parking space. For those who have garages, utilize the front of their garage as their own personally numbered parking space. Enforce this and residents will not have parking concerns. For those that may have a third vehicle, have them park in the overflow lot near the mailboxes. Again, enforcing this is key - not simply touting a 24/7 towing system that has yet to be implemented. If you want to gain the resident's appreciation of the place and keep everyone happy, it would help if you started acting like a luxury complex that has rooms as high as $1600. read more

I submitted an application on 6/16/17 and paid a $50 non-refundable fee plus a $150 refundable admin fee. I shortly received an email stating I had been denied with instructions to call for more information. I called the agent and was told my application was denied due to my credit score. I asked to be refunded the $150 admin fee and the agent told me they would reverse the charges to my card. I handled everything within minutes of my application being processed and denied. Later that day I received a separate email from Persis Wilmoth, manager, stating that I would receive my refund by mail within 45 days. I emailed them back inquiring about the promised card refund and allowed a whole week before calling the apartment complex to inquire about the discrepancy. Today I spoke with "Hannah" who told me I would receive a check, then told me it would be reversed to my card within 45 days. When I asked clarification because the info she was providing was contradictory, she said "I was lucky I was getting a refund at all because this was a courtesy, and they do not usually refund the money at all". She gave me the number for the corporate offices (Fogelman Management) and when I asked for her last name (because I am making sure I am documenting all the information) she said "no thank you" and hung up on me. I was polite and professional throughout the whole conversation. The lack of policy knowledge of their staff is alarming. The lack of professionalism inexcusable. I called corporate and was directed to a voicemail. I wonder if I ever see my money back. Maybe it will require "luck" as Hannah pointed out. Who knows...the staff certainly does not. read more

Nice apartment until you move out. My son lived there for almost 3 years. They couldn't of asked for better tenants. We cleaned the apartment thoroughly and left it looking VERY nice. I went through the walk through since my son had to work. No problems except a burned out light bulb and a missing strainer. Few days later I find out they are charging him 621.00 for "damage to carpet." Absolutely no damage, only normal wear and tear. They called it bad stains. Photos show otherwise. When someone lives in a place for almost 3 years the carpet is going to show wear in the traffic area. They will take advantage of the young an unexperienced. The manager was rude and obviously doesn't know the meaning of "normal wear and tear". So off to small claims court we go. It will be my pleasure to embarrass this company. Word of advice. . . don't fear those who try to take advantage of you. When you are in the right fight for what you believe. If you choose to rent here beware! read more
