Let me start by saying that Mountain Top Hot Cocoa was one of the more difficult places for us to actually get to try, but once we did, I could absolutely understand why there always seems to be a line. We attempted to visit three different days, and on two of those days, they closed early without any notice. As you can imagine, that was a little frustrating, especially when you're intentionally making the trip to try something. However, I will say that the trouble was worth the wait. The shop itself is small, so there isn't really an opportunity to sit inside and enjoy your hot cocoa, but there are plenty of places nearby where you can sit and enjoy your treat. There is also a cookie shop nearby that is quite good! Now, let's talk about the hot cocoa. It was thick, rich, and absolutely delicious. The whipped cream was also incredibly flavorful and complemented the richness of the chocolate perfectly. This is not your average cup of hot chocolate, and I certainly understand the appeal. I kept thinking about how delicious this would be while sitting on a balcony in the mountains, enjoying the scenery with a fresh donut or pastry to accompany it. It truly feels like the perfect treat for a mountain getaway. My four-star rating is exclusively because of the unpredictability of their hours during our visit. I would love to see a bit more consistency or communication around early closures. Otherwise, the hot chocolate itself was delicious, and I would absolutely enjoy it again. read more

I am a sucker, because like others- I came because of the hype from tiktok. There is a lot of street parking. Like others rushing in, I was super excited to go here and see if it's really as good as TikTok made it seem. Boy, was the excitement one sided. The guy working looked like he hated his life and maybe with all the hype he's tired of the tourist lmao. My fiancé got the regular hot chocolate and I did the smores. We were in Denvers Mile High City (2nd time) Breckenridge & Vail recently first time, it was freezing weather for us deep south people we stayed in an airbnb log cabin house in Breck 10,000' elevation very nice experience but the weather wow! 1 morning was snowing in Breck was 1 degrees, felt like -22 unbearable freezing at night even with heater on & vicks inside the bedroom. They have 2 back 2 back stores (hot chocolate and cookies), which is great while walking around in this cold weather. Their customer service is pretty good cause they started with a great smile when they welcomed us. I ordered their dark hot coco, which is wow thats sooo good :) The sweetness is a little bit overpowering, but I did expect a liquidized candy in my tastebud haha. I don't know what it is about this place but this is the best hot chocolate that I've had. I've come here twice. The first time I got a Smores Hot Chocolate and the second time I got a Chocolate Strawberry Hot Chocolate. I don't even usually like hot chocolate that much but this place makes it perfectly smooth and creamy without making it too thick. The mini marshmallows and whipped cream that they add to the top is heaven. It is more on the pricey side but 100% worth it. Popped in this little shop on our way out of River Run Village - mainly because I was insanely thirsty and noticed their sign out front stating a free bottle of water was offered when purchasing a cookie! So I figured "why not" and went inside. First of all, if you like cookies, you'll LOVE this place - as the entire case is filled to the brim with fresh made cookies, daily! There were so many different choices, I had a hard time picking out what would satisfy my sweet tooth! I settled on the "Salted Caramel" cookie, which was perfectly balanced between salty and sweet. My husband chose the "white chocolate macadamia nut", which was sweet and hit the spot. Now if you're not feeling water, you can get a free coffee instead - by simply buying a cookie. Unfortunately I was not able to order a cookie here. 10 minutes in the store, 2 people working, there were crepe orders at the window and people in store trying to buy cookies and one of the two employees spent the whole time washing dishes instead of helping customers. Not sure who owns this establishment but I hope you speak with your employees because this is a lot of lost revenue if people literally cannot order. If you follow the smell to the delicious cookies from the gondola, it will lead you here. And for every cookie you buy, you get a free coffee or bottled water. What a great deal! This was the perfect sweet snack after a day on the slopes, and along with a nice hot beverage. They have a wide variety of cookies to choose from and the staff is super nice and friendly. I tried the peanut butter, the chocolate chip, and the snickerdoodle cookie and all were delicious although more crunchy that I normally like my cookies and they were also a bit cold. But still, they were great with my hot coffee. There isn't anywhere to sit in the small shop, but there is plenty of seating just outside on the porch area. I love this place! I have always been a fan of the one in Breck and recently discovered this one... I don't think I could possibly say which cookie I like best, but just know that there are many options in which two delicious cookies create a sandwich with cake frosting in the middle. And then there are some that are so ridiculously good on their own that they do not need the help of frosting to taste delicious. I don't think you can go wrong with any cookie from this shop, but I recommend getting a ton and cutting them into 1/6ths, which is what my family and I did so we could try many. I attempted to buy a cookie from here around noon, Sunday, Feb. 3rd. I've stopped in here numerous times after a day of skiing for the cookie and a coffee deal. Good deal, great cookies. When I waked in today I noticed there was a busy line outside for the crepe stand but I was the only one inside the shop. I stood in front of the cookie display case while an employee was on the other side of the case going back and forth between making something on the grill. I stood there for a minute or two thinking, "ok, how do I go about ordering one of these cookies". Guy behind the cookie counter I know has seen me and knows I'm there (again, only customer in the store) but he wont acknowledge my presence and ask me what I'd like to order. I assume guy behind counter is strictly the cook and doesn't work with customers so I turn to the register area after a bit and I am able to get a girls attention who is working the crepe window and was obviously busy but she asks if she can help me. I asked if they still have the cookie and a coffee deal and she replied, "yes". I'm waiting for her to make her way over to the cookie display so I can point to the one I want. The cook guy behind counter finally acknowledges i'd like to buy something and looks up. I'm looking back and forth trying to figure out who will take me order, girl working the crepe window or cook guy. During this brief moment of uncertainty the crepe window girl turns back to the window and whatever she was doing. So I now turn to the cook guy who I notice is shaking his head (and not in a funny or friendly way) while looking directly at me. I ask him why he's shaking his head at me? He replies something like, "Man, your looking at her and trying to order a cookie from me ...". He purposely ignored me for the first couple minutes of being there and now I'm the one who screwed up because I don't understand the proper protocol of buying cookies from this store if there is one. So, I replied, "not any more" and walked out of the store. This is the first yelp review I've ever done and it goes out to the ownership of this store. If youre in the business of trying to make money off the products you sell, you might want to consider hiring staff that actually help make that happen. Employees shaking there heads in an irritated fashion at a customer just trying to figure out how to exchange his money for a product in the display case, that's probably not going to help make you money. This was a terrible experience. We stopped by after dinner for cookies and a crepe. The two staff members took a few minutes to even acknowledge us and were busy talking to each other in the back, but eventually came to the counter. The lady who took our cookie order inside said that she could take my crepe order inside also (even though they normally don't do so), so I ordered my crepe with the cookies and waited outside to pick it up at the window. When 10 minutes passed I checked in to see how much longer the crepe would be and the same lady who checked us out initially denied taking an order inside (or from me at all) for a crepe. Upset with the lack of accountability by the staffers and terrible customer service, I left to join my family back at the condo. When I told my boyfriend what the staff members said about never taking our order (he was there with our kids while I placed the order) he returned to the store to make sure I wasn't charged for the crepe and to express how disappointed we were with the way they treated a customer. The staff member eventually admitted to taking my order, but that she failed to communicate it to the other staffer who was making the crepes. The lack of accountability of the staff member was outrageous and what was even more bothersome was the way she tried to pass it off as if I simply never ordered from them at all. The staff was incredibly rude and we definitely will not be back for any treats after this experience. The cookies were good, but it isn't worth it to for us support a business with employees that treat customers so poorly. read more
