We stayed here a few weeks ago in an expensive suite and we were all shocked how incredibly rude every single staff member was the entire time. Each one of us had a really negative interaction with a different employee over the weekend. It honestly felt like they hated us, hated us even though we had just got there and honestly they are the 4 nicest women on the planet, I really don't understand why we were treated so poorly but it was not a good experience. We booked this hotel as we had a wedding in the area. To check in they wanted the room paid in full plus a deposit. When I said I wanted to pay cash they told me I needed $776 for the two nights. $575 for the two nights and a $200 deposit. When I gave them a credit card for the deposit they refused to take it. He said they don't work that way it is either all cash or credit and they don't accept interac at all. It seemed like a sketchy business practice and they said nothing when I booked the hotel so we left. Be warned something isn't right here. Left me and my husband with a weird feeling. read more

We stayed at the Mountain Retreat Hotel while in Squamish for a wedding. We arrived very early in the morning and because the hotel had rooms available they allowed us to check in around 9:00am, which was very much appreciated as otherwise we would have been left to find a place to hangout until 4:00pm. They have covered parking as well as uncovered parking. The staff was friendly enough, definitely a little sleepy, but overall kind. The room was spacious and somewhat clean. I always do my own wipe down with Clorox wipes and I felt a lot more confident after that. The view from our room was very pretty. The room had a mirror that allowed you to see your full outfit which was nice when getting dressed for a wedding, an ironing board and iron which was also helpful, and a refrigerator and microwave...also helpful. read more

Soon as we got in our room the door stuck behind us and we could not get out. Lock plate was bent and door wouldn't open even when unlocked. Almost had to break the door down, finally got out and went to front desk. Clerk gave us a screwdriver to try and fix it and said maintenance wouldn't be here till morning to change locks. It was not repairable, as screws were stripped. Had to sleep the whole night with door slightly ajar and safety latch across. Pretty sure this is a safety code violation as we couldn't leave room unattended, and we couldn't close door to sleep because in the event of a fire we would not be able to get out. The clerk was sympathetic and assured us that we would be given a discount at checkout for the night. When I went to checkout (at 11am checkout time) he was not there, and there was a sign saying back in 20 min. I waited and a female clerk and older woman (presumably the manager) came off the elevator. Manager said "do you want something?" in an annoyed manner. I told her I just wanted to check out. She said "she'll help you in a minute" as if I was a bother to her, gesturing toward the clerk. I gave the clerk the key card and she quoted me full price. I let her know the other clerk promised us a discounted rate. The manager overheard and came over almost angry, demanding to know what the problem was and who said that. She spoke angrily at the clerk for a bit, the clerk looked frightened of her, then she said "give 'em 20$ off" and stormed away. Another guest witnessed the whole thing and shot me a look saying "maybe I should not stay here"?! Unfortunately $20 does not compensate for anything when you're looking at a $630 bill. In hindsight we should have just alerted the fire marshall. Aside from the unkept promises and the nightmare manager-woman, the hotel room was filthy (stained carpets, grimy bathtub not even wiped, broken mirror in bedroom, etc.) . The pool area was very dark and unsafe as adults using waterslide came shooting out into pool where small children swimming, and could barely be seen in extremely dim lighting. The room we booked specifically because it had a kitchenette, but the dishes and cookware was filthy - and no wonder because there was no dishsoap, dishcloths or even paper towel. I phone down to the front desk for some, and the clerk showed up 30 min. later with some facecloths and said "this is all I could find". No dishsoap though, so we had to go to the store to buy our own so that we could wash their dishes. AVOID STAYING HERE!!! The Sandman Inn across the street is waaay better (we stayed there a few years ago) and the same price. Unfortunately they didn't have a vacancy that night. read more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel at the end of September. It is now the end of December. And I've noticed a charge on my credit card of almost $250. In September when we stayed there I paid $171 for the room and that included pet fees and taxes. Now, three months later I'm getting a charge well over what I already paid and they are refusing to refund it. They have asked me to email them a picture of the charge to my card which I did. I then called the hotel itself and spoke with the staff and they told me "there's nothing they can do about it" that they had started a new system and they couldn't find my reservation in September. I explain to her that's not my problem that they switched systems. How is this not an example of credit card fraud? I didn't sign off on these charges I wasn't even aware of these charges were coming and they're still refusing to refund them.. I was told many people are dealing with this. Stayed here instead of somewhat onsite at Whistler for a Ski trip. Had 4 adults in a two bed room. Didn't have any particular issues with the room and the staff were quick to accommodate our request for extra towels and such. There were some coffee ground stains on the carpet. The hotel also has a pretty cool pool/water slide and hot tub that were free to use and was nice to have after a day of skiing. There's also various fast food dining options a walk away from the hotel. read more

As we were settling into our room, we noticed a french fry on the floor. That was odd. When we came back to our room that evening, and were ready to go to bed, we noticed a lot of stains on the sheets (even dirt and a spot that looked like blood!). I started inspecting the pillows, and one of them looked like it had a pubic hair on it. Then I noticed that the fitted sheet wasn't even tucked in, like someone had slept in the bed. We were both really grossed out. My hubby called the front desk and complained. They said they'd move us to a different room. When my hubby went to the lobby to get the new key cards, there was a line of angry people all complaining about how disgusting and dirty the rooms were. When I grabbed my jacket from the closet (as we were leaving the filthy room), I saw 2 pairs of Star Wars flip flops on the bottom of the closet. (Wow! They didn't clean this room at all!!!) A little while later, we went to the lobby to drop off the old key cards, and there was still a line of angry people, and there was a guy going off about how dirty his room was, refusing to pay. Fortunately, the room we were moved to had been cleaned. First thing we did was inspect the bed carefully, and thank goodness we didn't find anything. Another thing we noticed. Thursday night when we took the elevator down to the lobby to drop off the keys to the filthy room, there were big globs of spit in the elevator (perhaps left by one of the angry guests?!?) When we left on Saturday, the globs of spit were still there, all dried up. They seriously need to improve the cleanliness of this hotel. The front desk staff weren't exactly friendly, lacking customer service skills, such as smiling and saying basic things such as "enjoy your stay" when you check in or "how was your stay?" while you're checking out. We will most definitely never stay here again!!! read more

Hotel was completely run down. Everything broken from the pool to the elevators to BOTH elevators to the vending machines. Our toilet was broken when we got to the room. I woke up one morning to go downstairs to walk to Tim Hortons only to hear a man yelling from the only elevator working at the time that he was stuck and yelling help. After 45 mins the "handyman" got the elevator working, and didn't put a "out of order" sign on the elevator as the hotel wouldn't Want people to know both elevators were broken. Please avoid this hotel and keep driving. read more

Safety concerns. Terrible Operations Manager. Will never stay again. Our 8 year old daughter sustained a serious head injury from riding the waterslide in a single, sitting position. The Manager Magali Bliss would not return our calls for four days following the accident and hospitalisation. Upon telephone contact, she was aggressive, unreasonable and extremely unprofessional. We would like a third party to examine the slide but she is completely against any discussion about slide safety. We have filed a report with Technical Safety B.C. and hope the slide is accessed before any further injuries and dealings with this Manager occur to anyone else. read more

Nice hotel, comfortable and quiet. The staff was pleasant enough and this is a pet friendly hotel. There is a restaurant and small liquor store attached which was cool. This would be a solid three stars except that they have an awesome pool, hot tub, workout room and... WATERSLIDE! Extra star is for their awesome waterslide!! It goes super fast and is a ton of fun! Definitely worth staying here JUST to play on the waterslide. We were there for thanksgiving weekend 2012 and there weren't any kids in the pool while we were there which made it even more fun for two fully grown adults. Open from 6am - 10pm. Awesome. Otherwise, pretty basic hotel although ours did have a little fridge and microwave. Not sure if that's in every room or just luck of the draw. Either way, we had no use for them during our one night stay. read more

Let me begin by saying that I found this hotel last minute on Kayak for $69.00 USD. Everything else in the Squamish and Whistler region were going for $229+ a night, and even this one had a rack rate of $109 a night, so I was tickled pink with the rate score. I was expecting much for the price and was shocked at how nice the hotel was really. The rooms were clean and spacious, there was free wifi (a must when you travel), a really nice indoor pool with waterside and decent laundry facilities. All in all, a tremendous value for the price. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful (despite the cliche's, this is not normal in Canada). I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through the area! read more

Not very happy with the service at Front Desk. Check in was very slow. Also, the staff is not professional--I could hear them cribbing as it had been "too busy" for them, while the guests were within earshot. There were two girls at the Front Desk--one of them downright ignored us, even when I asked a question. Breakfast is not included (verify details before booking--we booked though Expedia and it was a bit misleading). Our request for a late check out was denied as well. Not too happy with the service, and would never stay there again. read more

I travel often for fun, and like to avoid big hotel chains. If you're wondering where to stay in Squamish... this is it. Never have I stayed in one place for three nights in a row- but this hotel, and Squamish in general, was awesome. I found these beds to be really comfortable. Hotel staff was great. Wifi can be slow on Fri/ Sat nights (best wifi is any room near the elevators). Mountains all around: a beautiful thing to have for this Ohio gal. In summary... Great price- check! I'm not sure why this isn't listed as a Best Western but we booked it because it was. The hotel rooms were very reasonably prices, very clean and comfortable and the hotel had a great pool. We were also happy that we were able to bring out bikes up to the room rather than leave them outside. There is a great restaurant in the lobby (Timberwolf) as well as a liquor store attached which was very handy. The only complaint I had, and I have to say it was a bit of an oversight on my part, was that we expected a complementary breakfast like most Best Western's offer. I read on their website and in the hotel room about complementary breakfast and when I found out it was not available, I realized the literature was referring to "most" Best Westerns. It was a little misleading and not that I'm a cheapo... I really like their do it yourself waffle station!!! We ended up having breakfast at the Timberwolf and it was fantastic. read more

This place was on the list of hotels for visiting Quest University, so I chose it largely based on location. This was a mistake as it is basically a dump. To start, we arrived hungry , but the restaurant is closed for dinner Monday and Tuesday. The clerk at the desk had very few suggestions, but we did find something decent via Yelp. After dinner, we returned to a clogged toilet. So, I call down and was brought a plunger. The only reason for two stars (rather than 1) is that the room was decent-sized. read more

Early morning fire, kicked out of room, no refund given. We were set for a two night stay. Early on the morning of the first night they had a fire. We had to leave quickly, and then wait in the parking lot for hours before we could collect our things. Despite talking to the (very unfriendly) manger twice, she refused to give a refund for that night. If you're in Squamish, stay somewhere else! read more

HORRIBLE... Only facts. Beds are ancient. First, loud when you move at night; second, EXTREMELY soft - not easy to fall into sleep. A room with 2 queen size beds was not very large. It has only 2 chairs (one is not movable). I.e. if you want to eat, you need to do it one person after another. Reception is another sad story. We booked a room for two nights BUT they activated access key only for one despite we prepaid for two. Also. During checkout we asked them to split a bill on two credit cards(directly telling them how much on one and another)... The split was random and a reseptionist became unhappy to fix it so we did not bother. I guess, if you have no choice and do not care about beds - you can stay there. But if I have two options: 100 dollars per night and get something like this "three stars" or 60 and get two stars hotel near by... I will experiment with two stars. read more

Horrible service from the second we arrived. First I was told that their "system was down" and to "go sit down!" Then told me that they had no room for us, but reservation had been made months prior. Then said someone else checked into two of our multi rooms reserved, then said all but two rooms of the original reservation had been cancelled, and to go talk to other members of our group. Went upstairs with a staff member and knocked on a bunch of rooms with no success, because the person we were looking for had not actually checked in yet. The whole time the manager was being rude to the two other staff members, and myself. Then he went on to tell me they had only ONE room left, but at a higher price than the original reservation. Then when another group under the same reservation arrived, they suddenly had a MUCH more expensive room become available, leaving our party no other option but to pay the much higher rate or have no where to stay. During our stay, all three of my room cards suddenly deactivated and when having them reactivated, the manager acted like it was a common occurrence and didn't appologize for the inconvenience. Not to mention the apparent extreme shortage of towels and face cloths both nights: 3 towels (for 4 guests), 2 hand towels, 1 face cloth). Called front desk to get more, but got no answer! Manager stopped us on our way out of the restaurant, saying someone (that was not even part of our group at breakfast) had not paid and we needed to go find d him!! (We are 68 and 41 year old responsible guests!) All other staff was professional and pleasant, but the manager was just so rude that he left our entire group unsatisfied with our stay. We stayed here January 2014. I do not recommend you stay here unless you like your car getting broken into. The hotel has no security, and no cameras in their covered garage. I would rate zero stars if possible. After speaking with RCMP, and a local business owner (not the hotel) we learned that car prowls are prolific at this hotel and the surrounding businesses, as in multiple times per month. When we checked in the front desk said zero about this, no warning to completely empty out your vehicle, we get a lot of car prowls, etc. we left groceries and sunglasses, that was it. Also, after the break in the hotel manager called the RCMP and said, they aren't coming, they never come. They did arrive, and said they always show up. I think she was trying to downplay the whole situation. What I am most upset about is that they clearly have a problem, know full well about it and didn't bother to provide a clear warning and suggestion to make sure we totally unloaded everything out of the vehicle. Pass on this place and look for a hotel with on site security /monitoring. There is one just up the road. read more

Stayed in early January, 2018 and was very disappointed. It is the first hotel I've stayed at in thirty years that didn't have a complimentary breakfast. Especially for the $ 135. rate per night. The restaurant next door has weird hours and was closed when we were there and wanted food. The towels were dirty. On our first night, after we were sound asleep the smoke alarm started going off and woke us up. We had to change rooms in the middle of the night and lug all our stuff into the other room. Hard to get back to sleep after that. At check out I asked if they would give us something for the scary disruption and they simply said " We have no control over faulty smoke alarms ". That is not true. If they had a policy of changing the batteries once a year that wouldn't happen. So they must change the batteries when they fail. Good luck on that one. We will never stay there again under any circumstances. I will rather stay in my car. read more
