This very well maintained cemetery dates back to earlier than 1874 when the city of Kings Mountain was incorporated. The oldest determinable grave is that of Martha Fullenwider who was buried in 1835. The cemetery contains over 8640 graves.
There is a dedicated Veterans section with appropriate signage to honor those who have served the United States. Under a bald eagle above, the Veterans monument has the engraved seals of the six branches of service.
This is an active cemetery. I saw two separate burials underway when I visited. So please take appropriate care and be respectful if you're visiting.
