Mountain Range is a Local Gem tucked away between Cattle Farms in a Country Setting. Mr. Jule who owns the place is a National Treasure. Lets just take a moment to appreciate this kind Man, his charisma, and his service to our Country. With the world in such a state of affairs I realized it was time for me to get serious. I purchased a shogun for home protection and came here to learn the ins and outs of my firearm. Lane rental is $30 and Mr Jule gave me a personal assessment for no extra charge. What a guy. A year later I took my local CC class I came back to Mountain Range to train and learn more about 9mm's. They had a selection of rentals for me to choose from and once again I had a Lesson with Mr. Jule. I left feeling much more confident about not only my skill level but also which firearm I would be purchasing in the future. Sad to see them going- apparently they'll be shutting down the range this month and the shop side next month. Everything in shop (minus ammo) was 10% off as of 10/30/25. Because they're closing they didn't have too many items variety I'm sure they've been selling a lot and not restocking of course. We didn't get to go to the range part but the guys there were really nice. The property itself was also gorgeous. Easy parking spaces. read more

I was looking for a range to shoot in. Found Mountain Range great atmosphere, plenty of pistol, and rifle lanes. Excellent staff.

If you are a new shooter, this is actually an excellent place for you to go. There are both pistol and rifle bays that can be configured for sitting or standing. They go out to 30yds and have excellent ventilation (for lead safety.) The range officers are interested in your shooting and will accompany you out to shoot and even pull/paste/drive targets for you. If you are not a new shooter, go somewhere else. This is the first range I've ever been to that requires you to purchase and use only their targets. The range officers will then go through all of your possessions to check for the dreaded steel-cased ammo. They will take it from you until you leave and only then return it. OK, this makes sense if they're worried about their backstops, but they then follow you out to the range and watch you shoot the entire time. I've had this before, but the RO's generally leave after seeing that I know what I'm doing. This time, the RO hovered so much and so closely, that my girlfriend did not feel comfortable shooting and declined to do more than watch. The RO brought out a bench rest that was held together by tape and set my rifle on it. It was not balanced, and I had to catch it before it fell to the ground. Then while "zeroing" my new rifle, the RO wanted to argue that I didn't understand that all rifles were "zeroed" for 30yds, and that you could "set" it to another distance, but he didn't know why anyone would. I said I would prefer to "set" my .223/5.56 to a 50yd zero to maximize accuracy from 0 - 250/300yds. He had never heard of this and wanted to continue to argue the point so I just dropped it and left my ballistic software app in my pocket so I could leave ASAP. We finished "zeroing" for 30yds, and I'll adjust it to 50yds as soon as we go to a regular range. The people here are nice and mean well, but they are just too smothering and obnoxious for anyone experienced to shoot with. read more

Absolutely the best a range gets. Fantastic friendly, super knowledgeable, and helpful staff. Jule is the best. Great gun shop. Fantastic service on any firearm. Range is pristine like new. Setting is picture perfect in the middle of the western Carolina mountains. Couldn't ask for a better range/shop/patriots !!!!! read more

Super operation! Very clean and fun staff! Spent the entire day yesterday in their Concealed Carry class...yes, the entire day (required 8 hours). However, the materials were great and the leader....knew his stuff! Made the day very enjoyable and held our attention. Not boring, lots of real examples to truly get the law. To boot, we had alot of laughs! Shooting instructions were safe and well communicated. Highly recommend and we are definitely going back on a regular basis. read more

Friendly and fun. Safe and secure. Gun ranges and gun stores tend to have folks who are a little bit know it all and often somewhat aloof. Not so at Mountain Range. Julie and family and employees are all well versed in their range and gun store. They know their products and their place both very well. Beyond that, they are just great folks. Easy to talk to and happy to help seems to be the business model. Everything about Mountain Range is clearly well thought out and carefully designed. I've been to many ranges in sixty years of LE and the military. This one is a great combination of well built and well run. That makes it stand out anywhere, never mind in WNC. Absolutely state of the art range, including BOTH devoted pistol and rifle lanes, which I can't find anywhere else within a distance that wouldn't require a hotel stay. The kicker is, I'd rather be at Mountain Range more that the other far-away option or two even if I lived next door to them. Brand new facilities complete with all the bells and whistles, pleasant staff with obvious knowledge and customer care as a focus, very well stocked sales floor offering wide variety of firearms, ammunition, and all the coveted accessories you could ask for. If you haven't tried Mountain Range yet, I highly suggest you give it a shot. read more

My brother and I decided to stop in on a rainy afternoon, we had passed the sign on the way to our Air BnB. The owner was friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He explained the pricing and the types of guns to rent (including ammo and suggestions for both my brother and I based off our personal preferences). The pricing was reasonable, and we were there for a good two hours. It was my first time shooting, and we were renting guns neither of us had used, so the owner came with us to show us how to load and work the guns, gave advice on how to shoot better, and gave us time alone when we were comfortable with periodic check ins. Returning the equipment was a simple task when we were done. I would definitely recommend spending your time and money here. We had a fantastic time and will be back if ever in the area again! read more

Way over price and rules are stupid. Then they want to stand over the top of you while you shoot..

Used this range in 2017 and it was great. We are spending the summer in the area and I wanted to get a six month membership ($200) this year. That compares to the $125 I pay for six months at a similar indoor range where I spend the winter in Florida. But as I entered the range with my bag and targets was notified that as of May 1, 2019 you could only use targets purchased from them! Their least expensive target was .50 and a piece of junk compared to my NRA bulls-eye pistol targets that I get for .13 each. I have shot at many ranges throughout the country and have always been able to use my own targets. I decided not to join and contribute to their greed - eight targets per week times 25 weeks times .37 is an additional $74 in addition to the $200, just too expensive. I emailed them two weeks later to see if they had come to their senses and never received a reply. read more
