My recent visit was promising at first, but the rain just kept coming all day long and it "dampened" my spirits completely. I stopped by the main office and got directions to the Jones Mill Dam. Since it was raining so much I gave it some time to clear up, but to no avail. This park is certainly worth checking out and it will be super beautiful later on in the Spring. The wood frogs, spring peepers and other animals will be active. On the same road that this park lies on is two other parks: Kooser State Park and Laurel Ridge State Park, so it is possible to hit those up while in the area. I will certainly make the trip out here later on towards May.

What a great spot for a hike, but an even better place for a swim, relaxing, a picnic on the grass or some sun on the sand by the water. So after we arrived we hit the trail that ran along the water while taking in the small but beautiful lake. We then proceeded to head into the woods. It was a great little hike and the trails were very easy. After we were done hiking we got the huge blanket and the cooler with snacks and drinks in it out of the car and headed over to a shaded spot under the trees. We sat in the grass area in the left corner of the parking lot and listened to music, ate, drank and enjoyed each other's company for a good while. Then after that we packed up our stuff in the car and headed down to the water and enjoyed the lake which is very clean and refreshing and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. I love that they have sand and everyone looked so happy. They also have an area where you can purchase food and beverages but they also have many other great amenities which I am sure can be discovered on here or on their website. I am so glad I discovered this place. I will most definitely be stopping by again when I am in the area. Enjoy :)

The host has added gravel to the spaces to level them out some, and has done a great job of that, our site was pretty level despite being in a woodsy, hilly area. There is some road noise, but nothing too drastic. Pool and showers are among the amenities that are rather nice and the campground owner/host is very friendly.

The showers and bathhouse were clean and the water was very warm. The only suggestion we have is for lot 203, where we stayed to be leveled more to accommodate a 35 foot motor home by getting to a level state without having to raise the wheels far off the ground. We found all the staff at Eagle's Nest to be very pleasant, friendly and accommodating. We had about 15 rigs, and rented one cabin. Paul placed us in sites very near each other, and close to the pavilion which perfectly met our needs for the event. The pavilion near the creek, with electricity, lighting, a nearby restroom, and running water, was a great set-up for our group meetings and meals. Paul even set up a fire ring near the pavilion for our evening campfire and music. The camp facilities were very clean and level, with full services at each site. The restaurant on site (Fireside Inn) has an extensive menu. Try the cauliflower soup ... it is FABULOUS. Eagles Nest is conveniently located near Cumberland, MD - a great local tourism spot with museums, shops, restaurants, and a scenic railroad ride. The campground is still a work in progress and we look forward to going back to see how it is coming along. Paul has a great vision for further improvements and is working hard toward that end. With a mix of seasonal and transient residents, most in self-contained units, there is little need for public facilities. Some in our group might have preferred a public bathhouse (in future development plan), but the lack of a public bathhouse would not prevent our return. Happy trails ...

We had a great experience at Eagle's Nest September 2019, our 39th annual 'Rolling Thunder' rally. The camping, accommodations, food and entertainment were some of the best we have enjoyed. If you want to hike into a mountain paradise that gives you 4 acres to camp and play in, the bottom sites are exactly what you are looking for. The owner is awesome, won't make fun of you too much if he needs to drive you to the camp site since your car has no ground clearance and is an all-round interesting character. I am already itching to go back in two weeks. Wildlife, nature, seclusion, and an hour outside of Pittsburgh. PS - if you want showers and a pool, YOU ARE NOT LOOKING FOR A CAMPGROUND... This is located in the quiet, peaceful little town of Confluence. It's very close to amazing biking and hiking trails and kayaking, fishing, and rafting. The house we stayed in (their are several options) had 3 bedrooms with baths. The common rooms are spacious and gorgeously appointed. The decor is very tasteful Arts and Crafts period. The owner, Robin, is a potter, and you can see her pottery throughout and buy it too. The huge kitchen and dining room are available for your use. A full breakfast is provided. There are TVs in each room and the lounge area. It is IMMACULATE. All COVID precautions in place and we felt very safe. It is dog friendly which made a big difference to us. The charge is $20 per night. Our dog loved it Robin and Dan are lovely hosts and did everything to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. Super nice people. There's not a whole lot to do if you're not into nature here. Eating establishments limited although we did have a good meal at Rivers Edge restaurant. The hiking is excellent.

Ours was on top of the hill, over-looking a grassy area and the campground, near the Pavillion which was home to DJ's Friday and Saturday night and the talented Partners and Crime Band Sunday. They had activities for the kids, crafts, sno cones and a hay ride (rained out for us) and BINGO with nice prizes. The kids did some fishing and swimming and lots of walking to and fro from the bathhouse! The staff were terrific, and very helpful and welcoming. A very nice place. As a side note, they did have a bit of bee issue, which is common this time of year.

The owners hide behind their faith and use it as a justification to treat people rudely. From the first point of contact, the woman spoke to us rudely, talking over my husband, and even yelling. They have many strict rules (some of which are extreme, like paying extra if you have over 3 people but can have no more than 6 people). The owner charged us twice for the extra people, then argued that she didn't, until we told her we had bank statements to prove it. The deer pen is really sad. The fence is falling down and in the pen, there are several falling down sheds, the pen itself is small. The pool is not heated (and if you have child that is not potty trained, or a child that wears swimmy diapers, they are prohibited to swim), the playground is subpar, and the grounds are run down. Go somewhere else, where your money is appreciated because you will be paying a lot for nothing.
