We recently stayed at a property managed by "Done Right Management" in McCall, ID, and had a very…read moredisappointing experience. More than a month after our stay, we were charged for alleged damage to a cabinet. The cabinet in question appeared to be an older wooden piece of furniture that could not realistically have been damaged under normal use, and if any wear did occur, it certainly did not happen during our stay. We travel frequently and rent many properties, and we have never encountered an issue like this before. We attempted to resolve the matter directly with management, but the response was not satisfactory. Ultimately, we had to dispute the charge through our credit card company, which resulted in a refund. Based on our experience, we would advise future guests to be cautious when booking with this management company.

What I cannot understand is how a booking issue like this wasn't discovered until three weeks before one of the busiest vacation weeks of the year. I was told that the other party would keep the reservation because they had booked first. If your system can determine who booked first, then how did this supposed glitch go unnoticed for months? The explanation simply doesn't make sense to me. The replacement properties offered were not remotely comparable to the home I originally reserved. They were older, tired-looking homes that lacked the quality, location, and appeal of the property I selected. The agent I worked with initially said he would follow up the next day with a newly available build that might be a better fit. He never did. I had to follow up myself, and the alternative he eventually sent was yet another outdated property that was nowhere near equivalent. With only three weeks until our trip, there were virtually no comparable rentals left in McCall, and the few that were available were nearly double the price. I would have expected a reputable rental company to take ownership of their mistake, work aggressively to find a truly comparable replacement, and offer a meaningful discount or compensation for the inconvenience. Instead, I was left scrambling to salvage a family vacation that had been planned for months. What disappointed me most was the lack of empathy and urgency. The agent showed very little concern for the situation or the impact it had on our family. The entire experience felt unprofessional and poorly handled from start to finish. Unfortunately, because of how this was managed, I will not use this company again and would caution others to think carefully before relying on them for an important vacation booking.

The company showed up and came on the property and threatened to kick us out. She then proceeded to charge $300 for a carpet cleaning fee for a dog that was never in the house. Also the whole house is wood floors with no carpets. She said we broke the policy of having a gathering. She then took pictures of the dog outside . Do not ever use this company.

I've rented vacation rentals all over the world for the last 25 years and these people are the most…read moredisreputable vacation home rental company I've ever encountered. They out right lied to me on several occasions and kept most of my deposit because they claimed I left 2 towels in the washer, for which they charged me $87.50. When I pressed them on it they said they had to change a bed in the 2nd BR because the pillow cases didn't match. huh? I told them numerous times that I lived there alone and the 2nd BR was not used. They charged me $210 to clean the carpet....on and on.... Enough said.....they kept most of my deposit claiming bogus charges. I was especially careful to clean the unit upon departure because of their shady behavior during the renting of the unit. I am a 4 Star Super Host with AirBnB and owned a cleaning company in the past so I think I know how to leave a unit clean. I would never rent from these people again and certainly never list a property with them. I wanted to rent the condo for 6 weeks during mud season when rentals are typically very low. I asked the owner Shauna if they would accept $1100 instead of $1200 because it was off season. She balked and told me she wasn't going to waste a bunch of time negotiating for me because she only made $80 a month managing the unit and it wasn't worth her time. YES, she actually said that! After asking her if she would please at least ask the owners she hesitantly agreed and told me to call her at end of business that day. I called her then, the next day and the third day with no response. I went to her office and at that time she told me the owners agreed to the $1100 but demanded a $300 non refundable pet deposit. It just so happens I was acquainted with the upstairs neighbor to the unit and she spoke to the owners about the same time I was in Shauna's office. It was a complete lie! The owners had no knowledge of my offer to rent their condo. The rent paid the owners overhead for April and May and made them over $500 and it wasn't worth Shauna's time to contact them for only $80 a month management fee.

Once at the rental there was several feet of snow on the steep walk way to the home that had not been shoveled "knowing we were arriving that day", I would have expected them to have at least a path to the door. When I called down to see if there was a snow shovel so we could do our own path I was informed that they had a hired snow removal service that would take care of that. However that never happened in our whole 4 day stay! Cabin was nice very cute and better than the photo's online. Was not disappointed in the lodging just a little dusty but that's no big concern. Heater went out day 2 of our stay. Handy man came to look at it and brought 2 space heaters to plug in. It was "negative" -3 that night so needless to say we all froze and the 3 children who were with me had a terrible night. No call from manager that evening or the next day to see how we were doing. Finally the HVAC person showed up to remedy the problem. Heat was back on! Huge snow storms that weekend and not once did anyone come to shovel snow from walkway or designated parking area. Quite disappointed with the lack of care from McCall Vacations, felt like there view on customer service was to just meet sub par standard but not to go above and beyond by any means. If you stay with them there cabins are nice but there service is NOT! Expect to do most anything that you would think comes standard with your stay yourself!
