Old seedy and…read morebeautiful Hasbrouck Park has been around for a while. It became a park back in the 1920s and was the first official park in the town of Kingston. The area was used for mining for a long time and when it was mined out ended up with the town. It's a large park of about 45 acres with rolling hills and woods surrounding the open areas. Lot of stuff in this park including basketball courts, softball fields, picnic areas, a large pavilion and great views of the Hudson River, A very cool place but one with an edge. Lots of graffiti on walls and broken bottles scattered around. When we were there I saw a prostitute with a customer as well as several people smoking what I assumed to be illegal substances. An interesting park that has it's own stark beauty but definitely a place I would not want to be at night. The views of the Hudson River from the top of the hill are beautiful but all the graffiti and skanky stuff going isn't. A park that reflects what is beautiful in Kingston and some things that aren't.

We came here recently for their "Touch a Train" day and it was a lot of fun…read more Admittedly, any day riding trains is fun but they had a lot going on: FREE train rides on their 12" gauge park train; FREE tour of their station with many model train exhibits; FREE tours inside of a diesel engine including cab with opportunity to ring the bell and activate the brakes; FREE live music; inexpensive food including popcorn (yum); FREE gift bag for the kids with stickers, wooden train whistle, and other things like that; FREE demonstration of a working railroad work crane; $5 caboose train rides up and down part of the line; run the Lionel train layout in the station for a quarter for a couple of laps. They do this once a year, so don't show up anytime and expect to get all of the above. But they are a great little railroad and museum trying to keep up the history of trains in the area. If you are serious and spend a lot of money you won't make much time on the track... The facility are ok but the parking lot is all out of level and good luck to level the camper. There is no service and you still have to pay 40$ a night. The rules need to change to make it good.

Our food was absolutely disgusting. The potato soup was the consistency of mash potatoes and had a sour milk taste. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which came on a small hamburger roll that was falling apart when it was placed in front of me. Soggy. Nick and Lori, the owners, never rest on their laurels. They are always expanding and innovating in response to the changing and growing needs of their customers and the community. This season, they've done a fantastic job building out a 2nd floor so that they could accommodate additional merchandise. Btw you'll find better pricing here than on the mountain, so I highly recommend you stop in!
