One of the most diverse schools in the city, amazing teachers and great community service. The cost is reasonable, and the results are fantastic! The teachers, Matt and Ash, have been fantastic - so kind, patient, and clearly love what they do. Our child feels safe, supported, and excited to go to school every day, which says a lot! They have gone above and beyond to make sure she thrives both socially and academically. Also, because it's a PreK-8, they get access to library, PE and Music class! She comes home every other day with a story about something she learned in PE, a new song that is stuck in her head or wonderful book that she wants to tell us about. We also love that the preschoolers get chances to interact with the older kids during their family group time - This is going to help make the transition to Kindergarten a lot easier! Since our daughter is just about to turn 4, she will be completing a second year of Pre-K in the 2025-2026 school year and we are all very excited she gets another year with Matt, Ash and many of the friends she has made this year!

I find the teachers to be personal, professional and truly strive to understand each student individually. Columbia has supported my kids in a transition year and has help them each find their "thing" that lights them up and gets them excited about coming to school. Columbia Christian has also helped support some of my kids that have learning support needs in a way that encourages and hold them accountable. I highly recommend Columbia Christian if you are looking for a place where the staff and kids care about each other and are encouraged to drive for excellence. We drive 25 minutes to attend and it is worth every single minute/penny!

There has been little communication with teachers despite emailing and stopping in the school to talk with them. I believe students who struggle should be met with patience, understanding, and collaboration between families and school staff. Parents should feel that the school is working with them to help their child succeed, rather than feeling that their child is a problem to be managed. I met with the principal and chief of spiritual development and was ostracized and hurt rather than praying with and supported. The experience has been difficult because my son had begun building connections with the school community, and I wanted him to have a positive high school experience. As a parent, it is heartbreaking to see your child struggle and to have concerns about whether his educational and emotional needs are being adequately supported. This experience breaks my heart. I urge future parents to look at other schools and not subject your child to this. The admission person Carrie was great and made it easy to get in, but from the moment I met Mrs. Vensel the director of the school I should have known that we should have chosen a different school. I hope the school takes a closer look at how it supports students with learning differences and communicates with families, and works to find solutions. Every student deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment where they feel safe, valued, and supported. Even if they don't have the answers on how to support them.

To truly understand the impact Portland Christian has had in improving every aspect of our child's life you would've needed to know our history in the public school system. As the new kid the other students were welcoming. She had no problem making friends. She's had no issues being bullied. Their staff takes all issues serious. They don't let situations build up before intervening. I've never felt I was being bothersome when requesting things or asking questions. My child feels emotionally supported when having a down day. She's not trying to stay home anymore. She's trying new sports to be part of the team. She's the courageous confident kid she was before the pandemic. It's a true testament as to the dedication of the PCS staff and community. It's hard to find words to describe our gratitude.

I wanted to improve my music reading, brush up on technique, and play some classical pieces. While I have full confidence in all the instructors at MGS, Fedja definitely gets 6 stars out of 5. Bonus points for being able to pivot to the occasional bass and piano lessons during our sessions as well. The front desk and management are great too! I have a great deal of appreciation for Neil because he didn't try to sell me on learning extra things or taking me on an unwanted journey to build "the basics". He respected my request and delivered so thoroughly. We ended up designing a melody of three of my wife and my favorite love songs. It was wonderful and he made it so easy and gracefully taught me all three songs and designed the transitions and such. Very good musician and a respectful businessman. Highly recommend for musically curious adults. I would have returned to learn more of my favorite songs here and there, but we moved across the country.

My younger son joined this past year, and we are so grateful that he, too, gets to grow and learn in such a special place. The teachers at Little Hands are truly exceptional--kind, conscientious, warm, and confident. They approach each child with genuine care and respect, creating a safe space where kids are not only encouraged to explore and express themselves, but also gently guided to be thoughtful, kind, and responsible members of their community. It's clear that the staff is deeply committed to teaching children how to be good humans in our complex world. We especially love the play-based learning approach, which allows the children to learn through curiosity, imagination, and joyful discovery. The time they spend outside in the beautiful garden is a highlight--planting, playing, and connecting with nature in meaningful ways. It's the kind of early childhood experience every parent hopes for. Little Hands has been such a gift to our family. We're constantly in awe of the heart and intention that goes into everything they do. Thank you to all the amazing teachers for helping our boys grow with confidence, kindness, and joy!
