There is a small parking lot at the base (park next to the Lafayette Campground). My suggestion is to arrive early because it fills up. Plus it's always better to battle an uphill hike early anyways. Most of the hike is shaded, but be warned that it's pretty steep. You'll need to climb uphill for at least two miles before you reach the lake. Luckily the payoff is beautiful and you get to hike downhill the entire way back. #WORTHIT Once at the top you'll immediately have beautiful views of the lake, but make sure that you keep walking for another 10-15 minutes up the narrow trail. That will eventually lead you to a wider boardwalk area where you can lay out some towels, enjoy snacks and drinks and jump right into the lake. I'm glad we packed towels and beers because after the long steep hike I was more than happy to chill out with a drink. I honestly could've stayed all day and been content. Definitely add this hike to your list if you are in the area!

We were visiting Littleton beginning of November and spent our whole Saturday on different trails. We got to Lonesome Lake a little later in the afternoon. The parking lot was nearly full when we got there but the trails really didn't seem that crowded at all. The entire hike up is all uphill, but not too challenging. But once you see the lake at the top?? So incredibly worth the sore legs. It seriously feels unreal or from a photograph when you first see it. It was partly covered in ice but we were so heated up from the uphill trek. This lake must be pretty wonderful in the summer months when you are just drenched from the hike up and can cool off by jumping in the lake. Little tip, be sure to wander a little further once you get to the lake. You'll see a trail with wooden planks. We basically made our own little outcove off of the trail by the water so I am not sure what is alllll the way farther down that trail. We got there on the late side and didn't want to make the hike down in the dark so we only stayed for about an hour, but I honestly could have spent the whole day there. Bring snack, drinks, anything to make a supremely cozy stay at the top. If you are looking for the perfect hike, ya found it.

Cathedral Ledge Lookout is a ledge located in Echo Lake State Park. There's a mile long road that…read morevehicles can drive up to a parking area. There are also hiking trails that leads up to it. Being able to drive up and park was perfect for my family and I since I have young kids. It's a short distance walk from the parking area. There are two lookouts, both fenced in. The first lookout was smaller and has a bench. The second lookout was wide. It's on a huge boulder and the views were stunning. The pictures and videos don't do it any justice, you have to see it for yourselves. There are views of the White Mountains, Saco River Valley, and Echo Lake. This is also a popular place for people to rock and ice climb. I'm glad we got to check it out!

Then, continued on Carriage road to the Mount Moosiluke. Hiked down via Beaver brook trail and Asquam ridge trail. The top area is green meadow. This is very unusual in the White mountains. It is nice to sit down in the meadow and have lunch with view.

I highly recommend this trail for a half day 4-5 hour outing as the full loop is about 7.5 miles. There is a little stretch near the top that's so windy it will freeze up your face and any liquids you're carrying will instantly turn into ice. I'm pretty sure with the windshield factor up there, it's below zero. As long as you've got the proper gear (gloves, multiple layers of clothing, hat and definitely microspikes or crampons) to tackle this baby, the summit is absolutely worth all the hard work. Such gorgeous views.

Travel 1.5 hrs Will recommend…read more Will return I used the Brooke to liberty Trail there are some very steep slab parts of the trail about 2 miles in I am not that experienced of a hiker and it was OK for me to do. I was intimidated looking at it but once I got my foot grip down, I was OK to continue. There are slippery spots due to being running water off of the mountain the views are breathtaking. The sounds of the babbling Brooks and the little waterfalls are beautiful. and just being in the woods there is just amazing. Everything is alive and I mean that by saying not lots of dead trees around I mean there is dead trees, but it's so much alive that you don't really see the dead trees. it's very dense woods. we did not take the trail that leads all the way to the top of Mount Chocorua (piper) we had a very challenging night the night before with our other tenants of the building so it was best that we had not done that without doing that we had a 7 1/2 mile hike had we included that it probably would've been a 9 mile hike. We took our time and had small 15 minute breaks and in total it took us about 6 1/2 hours, but it can definitely be done in four if you do straight hike up straight hike down. Going down liberty Trail. It was a little bit more wet and mushy because you're going down the mountain and the streams are running down mountain but I didn't care. I have hiking shoes that are intended to get wet so and you can find alternate routes through the woods if you choose to do so it still wouldn't deter me from coming back For the parking you do have to drive down what looks to be a snowmobile trail. Don't be afraid of that. Yes, there is parking enough of it directly where your GPS leads you. I hope you all enjoy your hike

Honestly if I could give this a negative 100 star review, I probably would. So where we start…read more These campsites are trash in trash out campgrounds. No one follows the rules ever. There shouldn't be broken beer bottles littered everywhere or toilet papers and wet wipes scattered in the woods. That isn't even the worse part. We come camping to disconnect from electronics in order to be one with nature. However, there are people that come with generators and karaoke machine, strobe lights to name the least. I get it. Everyone wants to have a good time. Be considerate of your neighbors. Having raves and karaoke parties until early in the morning is not fun. Especially when they have their volumes at 100. This used to be a great place to come and reconnect with your families. Not anymore.

We took falling waters trail up and old bridal trail down. The views were spectacular, I highly recommend this hike - the reward is high both in the views and the glute workout! This hike took us about 6 hours in including the extra hour we had to hike when we made a wrong turn at the peak. Crowds weren't a huge problem for us. Hike was difficult, but doable. I hike a couple times a summer and workout a lot so I am in pretty good shape. Tips: 1. Wear sunscreen and bring a hat/sunglasses (you start off hiking in the woods under shade cover but once you hit above tree line you are in the sun for a significant amount of time) 2. Bugs: There are black flies once you hit above tree line - a lot of them. I ended up putting my long sleeve on to try to avoid them which helped a little. If you hike fast they won't bite you. I had some bug spray on from the parking lot but it either washed off (from the sweat storm I was) or didn't work. 3. DO follow the signs. We took the wrong trail down from the peak of Mt. Lafayette and ended up having to hike an extra hour BACK up to the peak so we could then take bridal down. DO NOT DO THIS, I was at a breaking point and out of water. 4. Water, water, water. I had three water bottles and all were gone by the time I reached Mt. Lafayette Peak. It was a hot day (93 on the ground). There is a hut that you pass on old bridal trail about 1.1 miles from lafayette peak where you can fill up your water bottle for free, use the restroom, and buy goodies. It was a savior! 5. Wear good footwear. There are LOTS of rocks you need to jump on, crawl up, maneuver around. Having good traction was extremely important on this hike!

Stunning entry point to the Pemigewasset Wilderness!…read more I was looking for a short hike to salvage the great weather we had at the end of a rainy weekend and this one came across my facebook feed of all places. I was amped though because I was hoping for 3 things this trip to NH: viewpoints, water, and bridges. This had 2/3 and The Flume had given me the last piece the day prior. I got there around 11 which seemed to be pretty early as the trail was empty. So empty I second guessed myself as there were bear warning signs and no cell reception. After a brief pep talk I continued on my way. So glad I did because eventually other day and thru hikers joined the path. This trail goes for a little over 3 miles and ends at a waterfall and connects to other trails and mountains in the Whites. Much of it is abandoned railway and the old planks are still partially exposed along the path. The view downriver is breathtaking. I must have stood on the suspension bridge for 20 minutes taking it all in. Were it a bit warmer I would have joined some of the other brave souls and dipped my feet in! Things to know: -paid parking for a nominal fee. They have machines and the trust system. -tons of parking spaces -restrooms though I can't say if they're flush or not -right off the Kanc and close to Loon Mountain I can show you better than I can tell you - enjoy my pics!

We did not finish the 3+ mile trail, we came back to the parking lot after a short walk. This parking lot could get very busy during Fall, so I suggested either go early or go late during foliage season.

It was a nice view from Jennings Peak and Sandwich mountains. Completely covered with snow, but micospikes are good enough: no needed of snowshoes, although I carried them. Not many people since it is 3993 (still under 4000 feet). so it's peaceful.
