My husband and I were driving on Highway 89, a golf ball from this course struck our car and…read moreshattered the windshield. This happened on a public roadway, not inside the golf course. We later learned that incidents like this may not be uncommon in this area. The golf ball hit the driver-side and the situation could have been much worse. Surprisingly, the golf course stated that they are not responsible and that liability falls on the individual who hit the ball despite that being located next to the highway and having low fencing. I see how this kind of position may reduce the incentive to improve safety measures.

The company policy that "members take responsibility for damage" is entirely up to the guilty party to fess up and pay up, neither of which they do. Phone calls and in-person visits to the Golf Club with the guilty ball (which are assigned and marked to players) and photos as proof, are met with indifference and shrugs by staff. It's up to us to run out onto the golf course within seconds to identify the golfer and challenge them to 1) admit it was their doing, and 2) make arrangements to reimburse you for repairs. Riiiiiiiiight. As a nearby homeowner hit more than several times for repairs, I feel it's time to move. Too bad the Ogden Golf Club and its members don't take responsibility and hold themselves accountable for the destruction they cause to the lives and pocketbooks of individuals in the adjacent communities.
