This dental clinic is located in the basement of a brownstone. I came here after switching from another dentist near columbus circle. I decided I did not like my dentist after they made me come in for a second cleaning appointment not covered by my insurance and didnt bother to call me to inform me but instead waited for me to waste my time coming into their office. That and I did not particularly like the dentist or the staff. Dr. Syoum even does the cleaning himself, not by a dental hygenist. Explains things to you while he works, and shows you whats going on. Xray machine is more modern and takes a 360 degree film of your mouth, which is awesome! He has a basket of freebies at the desk with floss, toothpaste and toothbrushes. Apparently he had an office midtown years back but got smart and moved his clinic to the basement of the brownstone he owns. I have a second appointment planned but so far I have a good feeling about my new dentist :D read more

The entire staff deserve all the praise. A welcoming environment, extremely friendly people, they take their time with you and every patient. Stephanie, dental hygienist, is sincerely one of a kind. Dr yohanes spends quality time just discussing life with his patients. People are afraid of the dentist... I can't wait to go to be taken care of by this amazing office. Want quality and personal care? This is absolutely the office for you. read more

Stumbled upon Dr. Syoum when Hurricane Sandy forced me to cancel another appointment to fix a chipped tooth. Now I'll be going back every six months for a cleaning. I hate the dentist - but Dr. Syoum brings just the right mix of skill, compassion, and good humor to the experience. You really feel taken care of in his chair, both by him and his hygienist. He appears to be passionate about his work - and given how important our teeth are, it's nice to be in the care of someone who considers dentistry to be his vocation. For those of you who are hung up on credentials: 1). What's wrong with you? 2). He went to NYU. read more

Was going to wait until I left NYC to review Dr. Yohannes Syoum, but it's been a great 3 years so far with him, so I've decided it's time to share his practice with Yelp. Been coming here to Dr. Syoum since I've moved here, he's an experienced dentist, not out to make a buck, but rather to make sure your oral health is excellent. He's personable, makes time for you. Great team supporting him too, friendly receptionist, and kind hard-working dental hygienist. I've never found it hard to make an appointment here, and there is never a wait when I do get there. His office does everything from the insurance side of things, all I have to do is to make my co-pay and that's it. The practice is located at the bottom of a beautiful brownstone, feels very cozy and comfortable for a dental office. I see no reason why you shouldn't consider Dr. Syoum to be your dentist if you're in the UWS or Harlem areas. I'll miss coming here if I ever leave NYC! (I'm sure you don't hear that every day about a dentist). read more

A very good friend recommended this practice for me so I was gong in with really high expectations. And guess what??? Dr. Syoum exceeded them. He's an EXCELLENT dentist that seems to really care about the health of your teeth and gums. He's extremely thorough and kind. I have had a chip in my front tooth for as long as I can remember. Dr. Syoum took one look at it, asked me how I got it, and told me he would fix it that day. I am so pleased with the results. In fact, I was actually kind of sad when the appt. was over. I have definitely found my new dentist! read more

Dr. Syoum and staff make dentist's appointments something you look forward to! Before starting with Dr.Syoum, I used go to the dentist every few years. He managed to cure me of gingivitis and help save a number of my teeth - teeth that other dentists said needing pulling. Now I look forward to going every 6 months in order to maintain my oral hygiene and to see Dr. Syoum and his friendly and caring staff. read more

I have been looking all over Manhattan for a good and trusting dentist. I was a little spoiled by my former dentist but sadly he had to close his office. Dr. Syoum was the forth dentist I went to and I have to say I will stay with him as he is truly the character I was looking for in a dentist. State of the art clean office, friendly staff and the doctor takes the time to examine your teeth and recommend the best treatment together with you instead of just going for it without consultation. If he thinks there is a better doctor for a job (e.g. complicated root canal etc.) he doesn't have a problem recommending you to a specialist - which was a great, fast and satisfying experience without any pain. I trust him with my smile and that's what's important in a dentist-patient relationship! read more

I recently went in for a check-up/cleaning. What can I say? Dr. Syoum is the best! He used a natural baking soda teeth polisher and my mouth felt great and my teeth were a few shades lighter (I am a coffee and wine drinker :-). I've been going to Dr. Syoum for over 13 years. He has the best comfy set-up in his office. You almost feel like you're going to go visit your uncle, who just happens to be a dentist :-) read more

Dr. Syoum is truly a skilled professional and great guy all around. Admittedly, I never go up to Harlem and wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a pleasant surprise. In fact, I shoot an interior WebWalk tour of the place since I was so impressed: http://beta.webwalk.it/alpha_project_viewer.php?wwid=7866 read more

Where did this Dr. come from???! What a blessing of a dentist, and a human being! I have yet to meet someone in this field (and in general it's rare, sadly) with so much humanity who sincerely cares as much as Dr. Syoum. His staff is great and not only got me in last min (even called later patients to get someone to switch for my earlier time so I can make the appointment!), but Dr. Syoum stayed after hours to help fix something that was just cosmetic and could have easily (and legitimately) told me to come back another day. He is just the most personable, pleasant person who genuinly doesn't try to reeme clients for money. He won't do xrays if not absolutely needed - which I appreciate b/c of the exposure to radiation. He also agreed no problem to do my cleaning my first time there without the xrays, which most dentist won't do (for no good reason really). I'm SOOOO glad I found him. Hope you are smart enought to go to him too. read more

What do you look for when you're looking for a great dentist? Technical skill? Experience? Transparency? Integrity? Compassion? Friendly? Dr. Syoum hits all the attributes the above. As a cash-strapped grad student, I was worried about cost when going to Mount Morris Park Dental to take care of a couple of issues. For years, I hated going to the dentist since it was always more costly than I had prepared for. For whatever reason, it always felt like I was being taken advantage of. However, Dr. Syoum was very understanding and detailed a plan that would take care of all the problems at the least cost possible. It was clear that his sole focus was the oral health of his patients. Dr. Syoum is also keen on informing his patients, explaining fully what he was doing and letting me know what I could expect years down the road in terms of issues with my teeth. After my appointment, I felt more knowledgeable about my teeth than I had ever before. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Syoum to all those looking for a dentist in NYC!! read more

Dr. Syuom is probably the best dentist I have ever had in my life. I have been his patient ever since I moved to New York three years ago. I first came in to get a cleaning, and he took very good care of me. His work is skillful and excellent, and he went the extra mile to make things work with my school's dental insurance. The staff at Mount Morris is extremely professional and courteous, always welcoming me when I come in. Dr. Syuom is very knowledgable, and always has a friendly word to share. He makes me feel extremely comfortable when taking care of my dental needs! read more

Dr. Syoum really lives up to the hype! I had a dental emergency and needed immediate assistance and the receptionist was able to fit me in for an appointment the very next day. I have been looking for a new dentist since I've moved to the city but haven't had much luck until now. Although they don't take my insurance, I will gladly pay out of pocket for their services here. Dr. Syoum and his staff were very Professional, caring and knowledgeable and the results have exceeded my expectations. Thanks again for your help, I will be back ! read more

Dr. Syoum is a highly skilled dentist with a personal warmth and caring touch. He runs the office with respect for your time, it is not simply a volume vactory. I have found other dentists in Manhattan so obsessed with extracting (pun indended) the maximum amount of cash, that you feel almost violated; like a vampire victim! In stark contrast, what I find most admirable of Dr. Syoum is that he actually listens to you as a patient - first.... then he suggests dental options for fixing or treatment. Many times it is in your best interest and not solely his financial best interest. I have trusted Dr. Syoum for over seven years. My whole family goes to him - ex-wife, as well as my precious two kids. I moved from MMPWest in 2008, yet still visit him and consider him my Dentist; the trust is that strong. read more

Dr. Syoum and his staff provide excellent dental services in a stellar, professional environment. His staff were excellent advocates, diligently working with my dental insurance to ensure a pricey cosmetic procedure was adequately covered. He and his staff also worked with me to provide a reasonable payment plan for the remaining out-of-pocket expense. He is extremely professional, skilled and demonstrates he truly cares about patient's dental health. He's also friendly, funny and personable, making the typically unsavory dentist visits into a pleasant experience! Many thanks Team Mount Morris Park Dental! read more

Dr. Syoum is the best dentist I've ever had, hands down. He does all the dental work himself, including cleaning, and is invested in helping you save your teeth. I wish he was my friend instead of my dentist, as he's got an amazing heart, intelligence, and dedication. read more

I chipped a tooth and luckily got an appointment with Dr. Syoum on short notice. I explained to him that I don't have dental insurance and that I'll move to Europe in a few weeks where health care costs are a lot less than in the US. He looked at the tooth and suggested to fix it provisionally for an extremely affordable price and get the full treatment in Europe for a fraction of the costs he would have to charge me. He could have easily taken advantage of my situation, but instead he suggested the solution that was best for me. Dr. Syoum really cares about his patients and, in addition, is a very friendly, likable and decent person. I would give six stars if I could. read more

What do you say when it's your first visit, you're in the waiting area and the previous patient gives the dentist accolades? I can't say, "oh yeah, I know." So I smiled and nodded and said "That's really good to know." Well, little did I know. After actually visiting with him, I got it. This was the first time I felt like any of my doctors was a real human being and saw me as one as well. We were able to have an honest and unforced conversation all while he was looking after my teeth. He did great work and went above and beyond. Not only is Dr. Syoum a great dentist, you can immediately tell he's a wonderful human being. He makes me want to take care of my teeth :-) I'll be back. read more
