I can't speak highly enough about this place. It use to be a staple for my husband and I when we were in college at Purdue (2003-2007). Tonight, we were able to take our children to this location for the first time. It was almost nostalgic. So many of the things we loved (decor, staff, food) were just as great as they were 20 years ago. The staff even recognized us from many years ago prior. This is authentic Japanese Hibachi. If you have an appreciation of delicious Japanese cuisine, go here! I wish we lived closer so that we could visit more often.

I made reservations by calling the restaurant and speaking with a live person. Discussed the best time for a reservation on Easter Sunday, and agreed upon 1:00 pm. We arrived a little earlier than 1:00 pm to find the restaurant closed and the parking lot empty. We drove hours from our home to meet up with our daughters, one of whom also drove hours. This was to be our Easter dinner celebration, but we were left in the cold despite having a reservation. This gave us time to look around. We found a lot of filth behind the restaurant, it is dated, and has a general unkept and dirty feel to it. Obviously, I cannot speak to service or food quality, but they are not reliable and do not offer a pleasant dining experience. Strongly recommend that you stay away, especially if traveling from out of town to meet your Purdue student for a special meal. They may leave you all alone.

Fabulous pre covid, still fabulous now. If you've never had Teppanyaki before, this is the place to go. The cook is a very nice and funny guy. I won't ruin the experience by posting any spoilers, but you're in for a laugh. If you act like a wet mop, he'll sense that and probably won't bother you much, but why would you want to? This place is an experience as well as dining. It isn't a huge place so be prepared to wait if they're busy. There are about 8 spots to sit around the grill, and he cooks for everyone that gets seated there. Sometimes it's just you, or it could be two or three other couples! Now they seat less to a table to keep you socially distanced. Watching him cook is oddly satisfying, and it's served right in front of you piping hot. Very delicious. He likes to offer you different pieces of meat too if people get different things. For example: my husband usually gets steak and chicken. I get shrimp. He'll give me a piece of steak, and a piece of chicken to try while giving my husband two pieces of shrimp. All entrees are served with miso soup and salad. I highly recommend the sesame dressing. I tried red bean ice cream for the first time, and it was so delicious! It kind of tasted like candy. I will forever come to this place until it's gone or I die. Whatever comes first.

My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out on a Sunday afternoon. It was quiet, there was only one other party of two there. The decor is definitely outdated and it seemed as though this has been around for awhile. The waitress was friendly and welcoming. We both ordered the steak and chicken hibachi with gyoza as an appetizer. Our salads came first. I chose the ginger sauce, while my bf chose the sesame one. I liked his better, but I just wanted to try something different! Our gyozas came out next. It was fresh and really hot! Once it cooled down, the flavor was great, and the sauce complimented it. Next, the chef came out with his cart. He was very friendly and explained the different sauces that paired with the meats. Even though we ordered the chicken and steak, he added a couple pieces of shrimp, which we appreciated. The portion was very large and I really liked the sautéed vegetables! Overall, the food was great but it is a bit overpriced. As someone stated in a previous review, you are paying for the show. You can get a similar meal at a cheaper cost at a different Japanese restaurant. It was a good early dinner date though for my boyfriend and I. Maybe with some renovations this place can get a little bit more business, because I can see it being a great spot for a date night.

All their offerings are 3 course meals. A salad or soup, an entree and a dessert. I tried their salad, Atlantic cod fish with some veggies and fresh fruit as the salad. I verified from the server that they don't use alcohol to cook. They had some interesting desserts, but did not try from concern of non-halal ingredients. Their food taste was overall good but the portions are not enough. I was hungry even after lunch.

It was nice to sit down to a hot, well made full service meal on a campus full of student food choices. I had the Italian special, which was their daily special today. The pasta was well cooked, slightly on the bland side but once I salted it m, it was great. There were a lot of pieces of shrimp and plenty of fresh spinach in the bowl. The serving was a good size and also came with two mini cannoli. The cannoli was the highlight of the meal. Delicious cream, not too sweet loaded with chocolate chips and the perfect size. Service was also good, it's nice to be waited on instead of doing a cafeteria style meal. I'd recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a "better" meal at Purdue.

Right off the bat, the staff was rude both when making the reservation and again when we arrived to be seated. Not the kind of welcome you expect when you're celebrating something special. There were 5 adults and 1 child in our party, and 4 of the adults (including my dad, the birthday guest) ordered the prime rib. We waited about 30 minutes just to place our order, even though the restaurant wasn't that busy. The most frustrating part was that after we ordered, we waited another 45 minutes only to be told they were completely out of prime rib. No warning ahead of time, no checking before taking multiple orders, and barely any apology. I had ordered prime rib, steak fries, and a salad, and during all that waiting they didn't even bring out my fries or salad. We were then told we should have come before 5 PM because they "run out," which didn't make sense since I had recently been there on a Friday evening for my own birthday and had no issue ordering it. To top it off, there was no attempt to make things right--no apology, no discount, no comp. I ended up not ordering anything because I didn't want to pay for something I didn't actually want after waiting that long. Overall, a really frustrating experience, especially for my dad's birthday. Definitely not the level of service we expected.

After we arrived and texted our location as requested, we then sat and waited in the car for more than five minutes, until I wound up going inside to get the order, which was just coming out of the kitchen. The order was, at least, completely accurate. The food was also quite good. I ordered the lemon garlic chicken (large size, 12 oz) and was impressed with the flavor and taste. My baked potato side order was quite possibly the largest baked potato I have had in recent memory, so large that I wound up saving more than half of it for future meals. It also comes with your choice of toppings, including bacon, green onion, cheese and sour cream. My wife's shrimp dinner was also good, though the shrimp-lobster chowder that she ordered as a premium side dish had a dearth of shrimp (two pieces in the entire bowl) and no actual lobster at all. Lots of potatoes and corn, though. The salads that we ordered with the meals were good; the ranch dressing that we got tasted homemade to me. And all meals, including takeout, come with a loaf of honey-wheat bread that was quite tasty. If you're planning a trip here, I recommend that, a day or two before you go, you join the online loyalty club. You'll get an email with a coupon good for a free appetizer, but it takes awhile for it to arrive. I joined the loyalty club on the same day that we ordered dinner, and wound up getting the coupon very shortly after we finished our meal. Bottom line: I think we will almost certainly eat at Longhorn's again, but next time will actually eat in the restaurant rather than ordering takeout.

I thought I was underdressed, but the dress code seems pretty casual. Water was served in a cold milk bottle. I could not decide what to order; everything on the menu looked absolutely delicious. The menu described the items well, and when I asked the wait staff for their preference or any recommendations, she told me five different favorite items that are often ordered, which was nice, but was not what I asked. I finally decided on the strawberry-and-brie cheeseburger. I ordered it medium well with fries. I was really disappointed in the French fries; they tasted old and cold, and when I cut into the hamburger, it was bloody. I sent the burger back, and this time they brought it out well done. The staff argued that it was medium well, with blood coming out of it. And before anybody thinks I'm confusing the strawberry jam on the burger with bloody pink meat, please see the picture. Upon receiving the new burger, which was cooked well done, I found it to be very good. It was tasty and juicy. As I was finishing my meal, a young family came in, and their child was making a lot of noise. A gentleman told them that if the child did not calm down, they would have to go outside. When the family tried to speak with the gentleman further, he continued walking away and did not stop to answer questions. I was not sitting close to this table, and yet I heard the gentleman talking to the young couple. Had I not already received my food and been getting ready to leave, I would have gotten up and gone with the couple in support. I understand setting standards, especially when the restaurant is bustling, but at this point, as a server, I could only observe two other tables in the entire restaurant, and one of them was preparing to leave. If I ever returned to this area, this restaurant would not be one I would return to.
