Fun 14er in the Sawatch range and definitely one of the easiest ones! The hardest part is the road up. I have a Subaru Crosstrek and probably could have made it all the way, but stopped about a mile before on accident-I saw a sign and thought I was there but it was taking about as long to drive as it was to walk anyway. By some miracle I didn't get a flat tire, but I definitely wouldn't recommend driving up this road without a truck or Jeep. Unless you're another delusional Subaru driver like me!
From where I started, I clocked 10 miles round trip with about 3K elevation. It's all walking up a road until the scramble, so it's very easy. Many people say it's ugly and just a big rock, but I thought it was beautiful. It wasn't the prettiest of the 32 I've done but it was still amazing and the view from the top was gorgeous. There were lots of wildflowers and columbine clusters when I went. read more
