Had an appointment for a kitchen consultation on 1st January. The lady (Kelly I think) was very…read moregood at the time even though the system kept freezing. We had ouor old plans with measurements from the last time we had a kitchen from Homebase and she worked from them. She planned the kitchen and it looked great and then she made an appointment with the fitter so that he could come and see the kitchen in person to give us a quote for the fitting. He came and the dimensions were wrong and he got back in touch with Homebase and she called me and said that she wouold re-plan the kitchen. I told her to send me the new design and to date I have not heard anything from Homebase. Our appointment ran over the two hours and I got a parking ticket as I had been there for over 90 minutes. This is really poor service I thought I would have at least got a call back or even sent the new design - most disappointing.

However, the shop itself is a little dated in terms of its stock and I would expect to be able to buy the latest state of the art DIY equipment here. Basic is probably the right word. It is a pleasant little place but everything is just so...... old. Maybe it should re-brand itself as an antique DIY store. Of course, you can stumble across (quite literally as it isn't particularly well laid out) the odd hammer and drill gun and some odd paints and pots but that is about it. I am no expert in DIY but even I struggled to find the absolute necessities here.

Both are definately worth a look as they are like little aladdins caves, full of treasures and certain to have what you are looking for! Staff are really knowledgable and are happy to answer any questions you may have or point you in the right direction if you are stuck. Prices are reasonable, no more expensive than anywhere else in the town and generally I've always found there is a really nice atmosphere to both shops.

So unlike the bigger stores there are certain things you cannot pick up yourself I.e. A kitchen cupboard. You have to order it via the touch computers then go to the collection point (think Argos) then get your item to the front if the shop where the tills are. A bit of a palaver really and I think it will add time into how long you are actually in the shop. Personally I prefer being able to pick up what I want when I want. It's bright and shiny and they had more staff on the floor than any other branch I have been to so that's a good thing.
