I've been with WIX since 2008. WIX hands down allows more options on customization. You can even edit photos (size, crop, etc). Plus, they throw fun events and contests, and offer lots of video tutorials. But, it can also be costly since I pay over $100 annually to use their premium services which is a major CON I have for this company.
MotoCMS has better pricing which is a major PRO. You just pay for the template and that's it. Nothing annual unless you use them for hosting. From what I saw when using the free trial, its very limiting compared to WIX. It also takes more time to build a website because, for example, you need to insert space & rows whereas with WIX, there's no need for space & rows because you just drag and drop text/photo/video wherever you want.
Both companies has it's pros & cons. However, in the end, I think customer service precedes reputation. I am not even a customer yet and I have already encountered unaccommodating personnel when I confronted them about their misleading advertising. I obtained a 14-day FREE TRIAL for a temporarily discounted template costing $109. 3 days into the free trial, I decided I wanted to purchase the template but I found that the discount ended and is now $199. After putting in 3 days of effort on learning how to use their program, getting to know their features and creating content, I asked the manager to make an exception because the information advertised was NOT clear. I thought i had a free 14-day trial locked with that special rate. He would not honor that rate but would charge me $139. I told him I would additionally purchase the $49 installation and pay $158. Still, he would not honor me the extension of that discounted rate. For the future, i recommend this company to clarify that .... the FREE 14-day is actually a 1-day trial on specials. Otherwise, I would not have wasted my time.
UPDATE:
So, i decided to change my 2-star to a 4-star rating. MotoCMS finally understood my frustration with the confusion on the template specials. They finally honored the discount and I went ahead and made the purchase. After exploring more of it's features, it turns out I made a great choice to convert from WIX. Aside from having the BEST pricing, they also have the BEST communication. You can instantly chat with a human being. With WIX, they make you read support forums and then create a support ticket until someone emails you back. I would give MotoCMS a 5-star, if they had advanced features where, for example, you can drag and drop, resize, crop/edit photos, etc. I'm sure in the near future, they will be able to offer these enhancements and i am looking for to it! read more
